Question about the BRS.... im currently AD in search of a reserve gig with 15+ yrs time in service. If I have a few month break in service from getting out of AD and starting reserve job, how does that work for retirement plan? After starting with the reserves, I have 30 days to decide legacy plan or BRS? Or auto enrollment into BRS?? Thanks

Nickel on the grass for a fighter pilot gone too soon as Trip flew west yesterday. I imagine there will be a full up donation site for his lil girl and wife before too long, i'll post when it comes up.
-
Able to share what non rev apps and websites you’re referring to?
-
I'll be vague for now til a more proper donation page comes out, but a 30 year old USAF fighter pilot is in need of A LOT of prayers right now. One of the healthiest bros in the squadron went for a run Wednesday night by himself and eventually collapsed from an apparent heart attack. He was deprived of oxygen for a while prior to being found and rushed to the hospital. He's not in good shape right now, breathing with the help of a machine, but is fighting hard to come back from this event. He's got a ton of squadron family around him and family praying and sending good vibes, but the more prayers the better. It's an hour by hour update kind of thing right now to see how he goes. If/when a donation site is set up to help with expenses, I'll let you all know. Things like this just don't make sense and always remember to hug your loved ones.

?s on ADSC (Active Duty Service Commitment)

That’s the word I’ve seen. PCS ADSC still applies. Said it may take a few days to sort it all out -
?s on ADSC (Active Duty Service Commitment)
isuguy1234 replied to FreudianSlip's topic in General Discussion
When ur pilot adsc is up, how does ur date of sep work? For instance, adsc is up May 2020 but for whatever reason u want to separate in aug 2020 for job reasons or whatever. Can u do that, or do u have to separate on the exact end of adsc date? -
I also noted this quote.......... "We have asked them to do a lot over 25 years," said Gen. Mike Holmes, head of Air Combat Command. He spoke during a panel addressing the service's pilot shortage at the Air Force Association Air, Space and Cyber conference. HEAD!! who said head?!?!................. Speaking of community, remember when it was killed? Quote from a few previous bros, "I used to do these things and sing these songs, but now I forbid you!"

Do T-6 students practice SFO's or forced landings
isuguy1234 replied to dannoc's topic in General Discussion
See lots of SFOs and PFOs from 16s and 35s at Luke. Maybe that'll change though with PTN/new T-6 studs. When did teaching ELPs stop? -
So I never saved my Aviation Training Jacket when I completed UPT. The ole total student time shows up on my flight records, but zero breakdown for T6/T38 sorties and time. Anybody know if the registrar at UPT bases keeps a record for X amount of time of all grads(talkin 10 years ago)? I know I could just put the total time in there as student/dual on some airline apps, but again no breakdown between the two types. I'm not concerned about the handful of hours of solo time, but moreso accurately reflecting the time in each aircraft and the sortie numbers. Cheers.

Anybody on here recently hired by airlines with close to min time for their requirements? Curious to see hour numbers and type aircraft flown of mil peeps getting hired.

Questions on the GI Bill (Tuition Aid)
isuguy1234 replied to USAF Pirate's topic in General Discussion
Yeah in the grand scheme of total force retention tho, they would lose 2 yrs out of me. Got it, not about me, but how many others? I know 2 at my base alone. When u make plans based off a current and known value, it sucks when the known commodity changes. I also understand that the bandit has a vote, just didn’t think the bandit was big blue. I have much to learn still. -
Questions on the GI Bill (Tuition Aid)
isuguy1234 replied to USAF Pirate's topic in General Discussion
Ah ha! I knew, but hadn't seen til today that there would be some uber restriction. The transfer only occurs if you Palace Chase/Front(the ole AFI 36-2649, Air Force Voluntary Education Program, Attachment 13, para A13.18.8.6). Good luck with that during this time in the AF? I would have problems with this by 4.5 months due to my current ADSC. Anybody know of grandfather'd in kind of things or seeking a waiver of sorts?! Lots of time in, it seems crazy the AF could just give me the middle finger like this. Trying not to be angry. -
Good to hear, thanks for the info

Questions on the GI Bill (Tuition Aid)
isuguy1234 replied to USAF Pirate's topic in General Discussion
Happen to know where this is stated? I've asked a couple people locally and the response is usually "you're stuck on active duty until you serve the commitment." I've also heard, "if you choose to get out at the end of your UPT commitment, you lose any unused benefits." Confirm if I transfer now, with less than 2 years left on AD, I can still exercise an option to get out of AD at the end of my UPT commitment? Then I just don't get all the benefits?? Orrrrrrrrrrrrrr, by no break in service you mean, i get out of AD on Monday and officially start ANG/AFRC on Tuesday? Obviously what i don't want is to sign the transfer and get hung up on AD for 4 more years, but obviously don't want to completely lose all the benefits either. Official options?? -
Another asking for a friend..... I had my regular CFII from the civilian world before I joined the AF and also had regular Multi Engine rating, but no MEI I then joined the AF and instructed in 2 engine fighters for a bit. I've also recently got the ATP knocked out. What's required to add the MEI to my ratings? Is it still the mil comp written test as mentioned above, or not since the CFII is already on my cert? I assume it's one more container to check on apps?

Questions on the GI Bill (Tuition Aid)

Grd and Reserves too it looks like huh? So if a guy wants to go from AD to grd/reserves and transfer day 1, no longer can he do that if he’s a bit older? Wtf? That could then turn into total force anti retention. -

Sex Panther is great! Fat Amy is extremely applicable for the BFM aspect, literally just think about turning and it's slowing down! Still a lovely lady.

Couple years ago they changed the Raytheon Trophy from the "Best A/A squadron in the USAF" to the "Best Fighter Squadron in the USAF." One of the LN Mudhen squadrons won it this year.
