  1. Revival....anybody know where it says to use the “full gust factor” for crosswinds? ie if it’s 32G40 then u use 40 instead of the old wom of using half the gust factor? I seem to remember a long time ago people would use 36 for the wind strength since that’s half the difference for 32-40kts.

  3. Yeah i hear that. I fought the battle that is putting leave into the system, the system defeated itself...I win! Flt/CC was the one that originally approved it, std ops, but the Airman decided it was time to exercise his authority. Blows my mind, but add it to the list of things anyway.

Just had a day of local leave (approved by my flt/cc in the sqd on leaveweb) get full up denied in leaveweb because per the FSS Airman in reference to AFI umptifrats, my first-line supervisor needs to approve it. I've had lots of leave approved through the years and NEVER has it been denied. Why now?? Isn't it enough that i've spent xx hours defeating comm to get Leaveweb to actually work and let me sign, but now my flt/cc doesn't have the authority to approve my leave?!

  6. I see some PCS PC packages being approved on here. Anybody know of any “advanced flying training” ADSCs that take u slightly past the original UPT ADSC being approved to go to a guard/reserve unit TFI style?
  7. The T-6 at Luke finally departed today(it's been here for a while). Hopefully the pilot/crew got to hang out in Phoenix for the weekend prior!
  8. Don't they ask you if you authorize the search?? You can say no...........once. I imagine that will be an offering to make sure your blues still fit though, and still be searched anyway.

Thanks ya'll, appreciate the responses. 3 of the 4 problems lie within simple math that doesn't add up, so hopefully they can just change it in their system and "initial the change" cuz that is usually the key to making it ok. I've never seen a pencil change to the pencil change, but such is life.

Blast from the past.....anybody ever tried/had any luck submitting a DD Form 149 to the Air Force Board for Correction of Military Records to have some stuff in your flight records changed(meaning from 6-9 years ago that the HARM office said can't be changed)? Back in the day as a good ole LT, you can imagine how the overwhelming flight records review goes as you stare at all the flights you used to get as a young guy in the sqd and you say, "yup looks good." Or was that just me? Now as I try to clean it all up, i've discovered some penciled in screw ups from the HARM office back then literally miscounting hours by a couple and adding flights and sims(when the actual number is less than their math) with pencil too because their calculator math was better than the computer?!?! Anyway, as I mentioned at the top, anybody had any luck? If so, how long does it take-ish from submitting the form to the record being allowed to be updated and keeping the form in there? I literally need a couple pencil changes to the pencil changes. You might be asking why, prolly not, but if you are, it's cuz things just don't add up right. For future employment, I know they aren't looking that closely at the records, but I also don't want to be the rando record they do take a close look at and things don't add up. Thoughts? Thanks.
  11. That Congressman also mentioned that he recommends the Guard and Reserves open up a lot more flying positions. I've seen those spots be limited in some places and I haven't really heard much conversation about opening more spots up except for this article. It seems a lot of guys would happily fly for either of those if there were part time jobs available, but obviously that would be a big paradigm shift. Is this something being looked at seriously anywhere? I'm speaking specifcally to TFI units that could easily absorb a larger Reserve/Guard spot increase with a lack of Active Duty spots.

  14. I tried the Google machine, but just looking for some updated info on the "I just left Active Duty and have a final PCS move to X location." How long is that move good for and how/can it be extended? i.e. maybe some guard/reserve time in current location for a couple years, then move to a final destination?

  21. Is this still the case? Dudes leaving AD after 10 yrs, goin to the guard/reserve and transferring on day 1? Here's a scenario, dude leaves AD, goes to the guard and gets hired by an airline. Does his one year probation at the airline and fulfills a part time guard gig in the meantime. Does that count for the 4 year commitment in the guard if you do part time for 4 years, or do you have to be a tech/AGR type?
