  1. 30 months seems a bit excessive...more to the story maybe?
  2. That's what I was getting at.
  3. Damn...I've heard both of these stories before. I had no idea it was the same guy all on one flight.
  4. Where and what community is he a part of?
  5. He is one of many. In the past few years, we have had at least 10-12 guys get non-vol'd to UAVs. I would expect the trend to continue...for legacy herk guys at least. We are a dying breed.
  6. ZING!
  7. Jesus Tap-dancing Christ, no one is talking about the broken promotion system. I have two E's on every sortie I fly...so pipe down Nancy. I know how important points are. Make it above the AM and AAM. It just shouldn't be where it is. I could literally not care less about how many merit badges adorn my service dress. No one is saying that the medal is a bad idea, it's strictly the placement of it. Are there other medals that maybe should be lower than they are? Sure. Take it up with your congressman. Keep in mind, some guys do get AMs for missions in those "combat zones" that you speak of, but they still have 100% more of a chance of getting a SA-7 up their ass then you do. edit: grammar
  8. Copy...let's put it just below the medal of honor...since comparing them is apples and oranges. Put it in line with an Air Medal and the AAM. End of story and everyone would be fine with it. I get the whole "V" device argument...but when it comes down to it, this medal still outranks the Bronze Star with V device. I'm sorry, that's not right.
  9. No, they shouldn't get AIR medals (nor AAMs for that matter). But you are. You said: That's the point everyone is trying to make. It shouldn't be as high as it is. I'm not as upset as some and I'm not going to lose sleep at night over it...but I completely agree that this medal should not be above the purple heart or bronze star.
  10. The pilots here that have saved lives...were given air medals. That's because people in the Army Air Corps had nearly the same mortality rate as those in the regular Army. 2.5% vs 2.8% for the Army (https://cgsc.cdmhost.com/cdm/compoundobject/collection/p4013coll8/id/130) Ever read up on how many casualties 8AF had in WWII?
  11. Doesn't matter. You will graduate on time regardless of where you go. Don't forget to study, fly, and drink. Also, don't suck.
  12. Heard from our CC during a commander's call the other day that due to the reshuffling of the H, those expecting/trying to go J shouldn't hold their breath on getting a J slot. They are going to be few and far between (unless you are a fairly new guy already in the 61st or possible the 2nd) Expect a lot of white jets/UAVs/MC-12s/a few spec ops for assignments the next couple years.
  13. That wasn't my situation, but that shouldn't matter, as we had guys on scholarship at my school who were crosstown. Maybe someone here can provide better insight. Good luck.
  14. Oh, I see what you did there!
  15. You can to a point, but when the emails aren't sent directly to you (i.e base all distro, then sq all distro, then sq officers distro), there is not much you can do except tell the ADO "Hey numbnuts, thanks for sending me the FSS slides for a 3rd time". But as my mustache as my witness, for every multiple-forwarded email I get next week, I'm moving my beer time on Friday back by 10 minutes. I figure I'll be able to start drinking before 0800.
  16. 1st three emails in my inbox yesterday were the same three emails...original email sent out to the base distro list, the same email then forwarded to me from the shirt, and again from an ADO. It makes me want to punch a puppy.
  17. No more pretending like I'm flying an ILS for an hour. But seriously...if you aren't beans complete on your SKE events by your 2nd flight in the semi-annual, you're doing it wrong. ...and don't start with the "proficient vs qualified" argument. A no-shit combat SKE formation is about as probable as Rainman endorsing the F-35 as a replacement for the A-10.
  18. Copy. I was addressing the previous statement of i though he was speaking in generalities. But we've proven that nsplayr knows not of what he speaks.
  19. Luckily there is no annual Boat Driving requirement. Only needs to be logged once and you are MR for life. But seriously...where the hell is Rainman?
  20. He's going 18X...he applied for the slot (similar to UPT I guess). I'm not smart on the process.
  21. We just had a Nav get picked up for RPA training a week ago. It's already happening.
