After dumping the pickling liquid out, put a paper towel into a bowl, on top of the jar, with the cap slightly unscrewed. Then flip the whole thing over and put it back in the fridge. It'll drain the rest out over night.

Stop being a smug ass. I didn't say anything about the vaccine. Most people who stamp their feet and refuse to get it are being dumb. That isn't relevant. You asked about how many raw numbers was too much in response to an argument using percentages. My point was if you're going to ask an open ended question about high raw numbers without context, someone else can do the same in the other direction. If the US population was 1B, nearly 200k would die of the flu every year.

The irony... Quibbling when a test pilot and 11F tells you it's legit, then you start slinging WO around. With no idea who else is talking to you. Take a breath, maybe if everyone is telling you you're wrapped around the axle about nothing, just maybe it's you. And yes, I put the UH-60J in my bio.

How much financial pain are we willing to accept? If you could save every single person from covid, but the cost was complete economic collapse, even then? How many dead Americans is a small enough number to not rise above your need to act threshold? It's obviously a cost/benefit analysis. But if you're going to point to the raw number of deaths, you need to be able to defend the number itself.

Some of you guys are just looking for shit to be mad about. I flew one flight in a Japanese UH-60J, I made sure that ARMS folks put that thing in my flight records cause I thought it was cool. Should I feel terrible about it? Give me a break.

Those actors are taking advantage of something that already existed. The change dates back about a decade, to the introduction of smart phones really. Arab spring, yellow jackets, indignados, occupy wall street, original tea party, etc. The distrust of traditional institutions of power pairs with their inability to hide or spin their failures to live up to promises of competency in the social media/smart phone age. "Combatting it" will be a matter of those institutions learning to deal with the new reality. Again, I highly recommend reading "The Revolt of the Public." Martin Gurri, a former CIA analyst, released it in 2014 and it is remarkably prescient.

This isn't driven by malicious conspiracy driven mustache twirling "bad actors." This is the mob driving the politicians. Born of the internet and social media. There are analogous crazy theories on the cultural left. But you're right that it's dissention. Read "The Revolt of the Public"

Years ago, Biden wanted to declare victory and go home, then go back to kill terrorists when needed. That was when counter insurgency theory was all the rage. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

Some of you guys will believe anything.... Try having some skepticism for reporting that confirms your priors, not just things you already think are nonsense.

This might be the dumbest thing they could have done. Hopefully.

I think this is mostly a call to arms, and a declaration of victory. The intended audience is other Islamists. Which I guess makes this a strong indicator of who the Taliban will let in, and their intent for the future. Rubbing it in our faces is a secondary objective. The Islamist movement has always been good at "social media" even before social media. A big portion of the mujahedeen were not Afghani. All the people asking whether an attack was directed by Al Qaeda (or any other group) or just inspired by them misses the point.

Taliban urge Afghan unity as protests spread to Kabul Also read a blurb saying the Taliban was threatening Afghan civil servants to get them to go back to work. I'm sure they'll just start killing people to get compliance, but it does present an interesting conundrum if the Taliban are trying to take control of the already established bureaucracy as the "new legitimate ruling class" rather than tear it all down and start over.

Why don't you explain the pros and cons of a fiat vs commodity monetary systems.

Not to mention the whole thing reads like the wet dream of a Qanon level conspiracy theorist.

Lighten up Francis. And stop engaging dogfish like he's a rational person. He eats paste.

There are snippets. example: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41375-021-01332-z I'm not convinced they amount to much. I'm not aware of any follow up studies to prove/disprove (common problem in the current media climate) but just listening to politifact declare everything false isn't true either.

This is the fundamental disconnect. Some agree with you. Some think the primary purpose of government is protect its citizens rights.

Looking at the top things on the list makes me think people with a demonstrated ability to doggedly pursue a goal no matter what correlates with success. Shocker. Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk

Katie Herzog is a reporter, and was a staff writer for "The Stranger," which is a very left wing Seattle paper. She's also a lefty lesbian. Bari Weiss is a former New York Times reporter, also left of center and married to a woman. It's a far cry from "some lady's blog." And it sure as hell isn't a Newsmax/OANN fever dream.

Moving the pole year, the 5 year promotion window, etc are all geared towards slowing everything down, giving folks more time to live a different career path and generally stop making everyone play the game of trying to make it to the flag ranks. However, there's a lot of "stuff" to figure out. whether that's policy, re-writing AFI or complying with law. Time will tell how it plays out.
