1000rnd TRP report: One failure to feed (new magazine not fully seated) shoots about 2" at 25 yards (at least the best I could do) one ragged hole at 7 and 15. The serrations now feel great, I actually ordered a set of more aggressive grips. Haven't shot a Glock in two weeks. Oh yeah, shooting shit is fun.
  2. Pretty sure 60_Driver had experience with those (or something similar) in another life when he was flying OV-10s.
  3. I think composite fear is over stated by many, it's not as tolerate of dirty repair conditions but it's not impossible. That said, I don't think the concept of a smaller, updated version of the A-10 requires composites nor a single engine. Oh well, I'll certainly never be involved in building an A-10 replacement so it's all mental masturbation anyways.
  4. Even Boyd went beyond basic EM theory
  5. Care to expound on the nope, nope, nope?
  6. Let us know how it goes.
  7. Good Shit CH, thanks.
  8. pbar, I was thinking along those lines. Something still capable of stable slow speed flight and long endurace, but better high speed cruise. I'll admit wasn't thinking about a tank killer, more an unimproved strip fighter that can rapidly deploy. Call it the CAS version of Rapid Raptor. ETA: Come on Lawman, it's a concept not a production aircraft.
  9. Side fire has vastly more complicated exterior ballistics; but velocity drop off due to slant range doesn't really change. The wikipedia article is actually pretty damn good.
  10. According to wikipedia the GAU-22 is supposed to have 1.4mil dispersion. Assuming the bullet doesn't start tumbling that could make for some very long range strafing, my understanding is that the 25mm made it's way onto the AC-130 because the 20mm was doing exactly that, hispeed does that check?. Obviously that doesn't account for kinetic energy. I guess my thought goes that if we built an airplane around the GAU-22 vice the GAU-8, how much more efficient could the whole thing be? Less weight in gun/ammo means less fuel to burn, less fuel weight means less structure to carry it, etc, etc, etc. Based on : I don't think A-X 2.0 stands a chance unless it's kept to the bare minimum required. That's what got me started down this cocktail napkin exercise.
  11. Serious question for the Hog dudes and AC-130 types. If we were building a legit follow-on CAS aircraft, would a 30mm cannon be worth the 40% (rough I know) weight increase over a 25mm? I curious how small / light / cheap could you make this notional aircraft.

I've got a Supertuck for my Glocks, I find I have a hard time getting a good grip prior to drawing. That and i didn't like the idea of a kydex holster and a 1911, no real rational explanation.

Still waiting on the local CCP, but it's been on the belt for five hours now. Comfortable enough for having a big hunk of steel in my pants (yes I said that), definitely need an undershirt though as the grips/ serrations are a bit harsh on the skin. Breckey, that's what the Glock 26 is for....

Bought a Desantis IWB for the 1911, may be concealable afterall. At least in the winter.
  18. Yep, kiss that TFU good bye if you're landing on unimproved strips. tac airlifter, you think the 380 HLD wouldn't work (from the website) or is the MX-15 the problem?

Didn't think it was possible. That is a hideous 1911.

Sickness is right! I've been eye fucking a Dan Wesson Compact Guardian, like I need another $1k+ handgun less than a week later! Hit up the range on the way home today, trip 3 for the TRP. It's stupid accurate and my trigger control is shit, I'm having to really concentrate on isolating my trigger finger from my hands. I always knew my guns shoot better than I do, but this one gave me a glimpse at something amazing. Anyone got a good method of catching/collecting brass on n indoor range? This is going to get very expensive and I'd like to start reloading. EDIT: Thought it deserved a better snap

Every once in a while "it's looks cool and it's expensive, so it must be good" works out. Got to handle a Glock 42 the other night, trigger was a bit heavy but felt nice in the hand. I'll probably end up with a 43 when they actually show up in stores.
  22. Pre-SUPT, they finished T-38s then went to Rucker. Before that, they went straight to Rucker and never flew fixed wing.

I figured I'd jump in with both feet. I have no frame of reference other than my Glocks, but it shoots sweet and the front strap serrations are very aggressive. That and I have no idea how anyone can conceal one of these things.

Any reason you picked the 42 over the 43?
