  1. Who the hell are you gonna BS with in a comm jamming environment? There's more than one reason for radio discipline.
  2. The one vs two seat fighter argument always makes me smile. I'd get lonely flying alone, at least without a gunner anyways.
  3. This is no different than the female Marines providing interaction with female locals in south Afghanistan. These gals are not going to to be in the stack in a DA, nor will they out in the field for days on end in an SR mission. This is really nothing new, its been going on for years. The scale is probably the only new thing. That said, the integration at this level is a good thing, the operators at this level need some continuity as to who those ladies are, so they can train together and get better as a team.
  4. Dude, Google "furnished apartments Albuquerque" Some furnished place 69 seconds, this place looks like a decent area from what I remember. Anywhere up in the north west part of town (Rio Rancho) is gonna be a pain in the ass for driving; anywhere northeast, while nice is also gonna be a haul and much more expensive. The area around the college is probably your best bet. The thing about ABQ is that there's petty crime all over the place, just stay away from the area right around base. In any event have fun, Knob Hill area is a great time. EDIT: Helodude speaks the truth. Zuni=BAD.
  5. Raise you one
  6. Every fighter pilot should read about LtCol Zelko. He is the best example of a survivor affecting his own rescue I have ever heard about in recent time.
  7. Agreed Not always Deterrence is only a side benefit of being armed. We're at the point I don't want to go any further on a message board. If you really want to hear my opinion let me know, I'd be happy to talk on NIPR/SIPR.
  8. What's the accuracy of a transponder's altitude again?
  9. I really wish guys would stop saying that. It's like saying a B-52 is a strategic bomber. Weapons are weapons, they get employed within the ROE. Missions are missions, you don't go executing on something that is not your mission, that's the difference. Our mission is to get an isolated person(s) if we have to employ weapons IAW the ROE to accomplish our mission, we will. EDIT: Sorry, it's a pet peeve.
  10. We're kinda busy bro. There just aren't enough CSAR bubbas to go around if you assume that we need to be supporting the Army's CASEVAC mission full time.
  11. I can't tell, are you serious?

A 1911 guy openly professing love for a Glock, what is the world coming to..... Welcome to the wonderful world of it goes bang every time. You should look into a Glock 34, that fucker is magical.
  13. I don't know Col Martha McSally from Eve, but "her unit being responsible for securing isolated personnel?" Really?, the JSRC/JPRC is charged with recovering IPs? Sure they help and coordinate, but really? I'm sure the journos trumped up her role as JSRC director, but seriously....
  14. Steve, what the hell is a pram? I heard that same term on the Aussie joke christmas song... If I remember right, last time people were being a bit ass-holish (par for the course around here) but really were trying to help. Ned, I guess you feel a bit put off given your otherwise very generous freebie subscription. Fair enough, but people were generally trying to help, pointing out every little flaw in a performance is part of the culture, in the spirit of always improving and all. In any event, hope your magazine is doing well.
  15. No shit
  16. The fighter guys' point is that ideally the best instructors become weapons officers and run the weapons and tactics shop/flight/whatever and while they may be evaluators, no they don't work in stan eval. In my experience the guys who end up in stan/eval become sticklers for regulations. Their job requires it, or the squadron will fail an ASEV. Unfortunately in some cases it can lead to guys not seeing the forest for the trees.
  17. Restrepo is an amazing movie. Anyone who's spent time over that region will really appreciate it. I spent the opening scenes playing the "I recognize that terrain" game. The mouth of the Konar valley is very easy to recognize.
  18. [literal guy] Flash with a plastic cover to make it blue in the intake. Same reason the underside of the aircraft is lit up, flashes underneath. [/literal guy] Didn't you see stealth? That's how you know the brain is turned on.
  19. If anyone is interested in episode 7 with Ron Jeramey and BQZip01's mom (I hear around these parts she's the new village bicycle) let me know.
  20. Camel Toe?
  21. At the risk of bumping my own bullshit, look into the Thailand episode, it's about US pilots shot down in SE Asia.
  22. Bumbled on to a whole bunch of BBC produced episodes of a guy named Ray Mears talking about all sorts of survival techniques, with a pretty big emphasis on food. He also has a couple where he retraces the steps of Geronimo, or Rogers Rangers. Pretty interesting if you're into that type of thing. Well produced and not the sensationalist Bear Gryls nonsense. example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCkT8cwJPZM&feature=related

What do you carry in the hot months?
  24. Seemed pretty inconclusive to me. I haven't seen the SIB yet.

Great job by the store owner. What do you guys think of 425.00 for a Glock 26? I'm getting ready to close on a house here in Vegas, and I think my present to myself will be a new concealed carry gun and license.
