Agree with M2, however, I'm very confident that we won't see any changes coming out of Congress any time in the near future concerning any 'further' restrictions on gun laws, ammo sales, etc...though our President has shown us multiple times that he doesn't believe he needs Congress in order to change/not enforce laws. Even then, he doesn't have the cojones to take on the 2nd Amendment...at least not directly, which is what does worry me at times--example highlighted by the fact that the southern border states' FFL's have to report purchases of 2 or more long guns purchased by the same person in less than 5 days of non-bolt action and greater than a .22 caliber. As for the states, liberal states like CA, NY, MA will use this tragedy to further restrict gun rights, and conservative states like ID, TX, LA and the like, will not change anything. I would further bet that the modate type states such as OH, WI, and yes, CO, will not make any changes either as polls show that Americans favor less/no additional restrictions on firearms compared to more restrictions...plus, those that do favor more regs make up more of the population in the left states where they already have strict laws and less in the moderate and conservative states. This all being said, like M2 and others on here, I'm always buying more ammo, whether I need it or not. As for firearms, my arsenal is not nearly as big as M2's...but if I see a gun I really want at a good price, then I buy it. Moral of the story: If you believe in the 2nd Amendment and choose to live in states like CA, NY, and MA by choice, then I think you should reconsider your values and/or move.

Dude, I know you're just trying to discuss the non 'hero'/another realistic side of the argument, but if everyone thinks and acted the way you have described (not taking a shot if you are carrying because of situation, not charging the shooter, etc) then this douchebag has just given a sound tactical plan to any other psycho who desires pulling off the same assault. Fortunately, I don't believe this--people need to charge even when they're not prepared/equipped to do so. I'm mixing apples and oranges here--but a bunch of good dudes stormed the beaches of Normandy even though the beaches probably didn't look very appealing to the guys on the first wave.
-
I'll take the bait--what you said is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard/read. You are trying to compare deadly assault with self defense? I truly hope you're not 'SOF'.
-
Head shot--not saying that someone would have been able/had an opportunity to take the shot, but you never know. Also, when you shoot someone with armor plates, the bullets don't just 'bounce off'...it changes the dynamics of the shooter and the situation.

I will bet you a year's worth of flight pay that nothing will happen, as nothing should happen. Sure some on the left will sponsor bills to put more restrictions on 2nd Amendment rights, but it won't go anywhere in Congress. Now this might help speed-up the anti gun legislation in places like California, but those states were trying to pass more anti-gun legislation before the incident.

True....but, if it was ever going to happen on the active duty side these days, I think this is the best opportunity if there ever was one. RWQC is only 3 months long...probably close to the same amount of time as IFF. FAIP's have to go somewhere and they're not 'owned' by any community.

Sh!t Fighter Pilots Don't Say - your additions
HeloDude replied to VCQ09's topic in General Discussion
Actually, fighter pilots do say this. -
Irrelevant man...a commander can be fired for any reason under the blanket waiver 'the XX/CC has lost confidence in XX/CC to lead' or something to that affect. By the way, this wasn't the first issue this Sq CC had...there were other examples in the past (some more recent) with the squadron that caused upper level leadership to want a change.

I too watched the 'Hatfields and McCoys' series this weekend. I thought it was done extremely well, and if you research the feud, the movie seems to closely follow the true story. Refreshing to see some quality stuff on tv.

Oh this was in the works for a while...

They're losing their rotor wing mission...fixed wing mission will still be active (so I've been told).

I'm personally still waiting for the first female wing commander who is black and gay...these days just being a white straight female is no big deal.

Welcome to the United States (or what's left of it). There's a reason we have a separate/distinct culture compared to most of the world...though we're slowly losing our identity. -

Found an interesting comment below the article... Just for the sake of the discussion, I'm curious to hear what the girls were doing while 'dancing'. If it in fact this above comment is true, ie that they were going at it while in uniform, well first, I need a picture/video (giggity), and second, I'd like to know why it's wrong for someone (the CC) to then tell them they need to cut it out? Would it be acceptable for a guy and a chick to be going at it while in uniform at an official ball with dates/civilians around? Or is this just part of the double-standard that has begun taking over our military? As for the CSM, if it's true what he did, then yes, his ass needs to be disciplined to the max extent. ...edited to say thanks to Grind for the pics

Common Vertical Lift Support Platform 15 yrs late
HeloDude replied to SVFR's topic in General Discussion
Irrelevant to my point. I said that though I agree the Lakota would be a poor replacement for the N model (obviously a poor replacement for the Huey flatiron), I was commenting on: Again, even if all the flatiron birds were 60's or 47's and were all broke, there would still be plenty of birds in the area to pick up a crew if someone was hurt. As for having to wait to get picked up from a PL near Rucker, big deal man. I've waited SEVERAL hours while PL'd in the freezing cold mountains and having to build a fire just to stay warm--Rucker is nothing. -

Agree on the overall discussion that the UH-72 would be a poor replacement for the Huey. Disagree on the part that there would be an issue (due to the fact that the UH-72 can't carry much) if a Rucker bird had issues and there were injuries--you can't swing a dead cat within a 50 mile radius of Rucker without hitting a helicopter. Trust me, there would be more than enough assets in the area to make the pick-up if needed. -

AF to upgrade aging Hueys for stateside work Who are they kidding? Endurance/range = more efficient engines/power plant, ability to carry more fuel, etc. The new engines are a slim possibility, but I don't see them overhauling much else. Increased speed means you would have to give us a slower rotor, requiring more rotor blades to produce similar lift capabilities, etc...don't see this one happening either. Navigation?...there's a GPS, that's good enough. Communication--just give the non-Andrews birds better radios. The biggest joke is the 'all weather capabilities'--anti-icing rotor blades? I'll believe it when I see it. If the Air Force wanted to have all these things then they should have just bought a new helicopter--one with more cabin space, better/stronger engines, fully articulated rotor blades, ability to carry more fuel... -
I don't own an LC9, but I have shot it several times. I personally don't like the way it feels/shoots (mainly the trigger), but that's not to say it's a bad firearm (I actually like the Ruger LCP for a pocket CCW). It also has a safety which is a no-no in a lot of eyes, especially when it comes to CCW. Size wise it would make a good IWB firearm. Personally, I would go with a Kahr P9/PM9 (CW9/CM9 for the less expensive version) as IMO it feels and shoots better. The new S&W MP Shield might be right up your alley as well. Are you only interested in a 9mm? Though I'm a .40 guy, I'm really considering buying a Kel Tec PF9--anybody shoot one?

1st female Air Force combat vet in run for congress

Results of the primary should be in at 8pm PT. Here seems to be a decent site to watch the returns. And for my liberal friends, here is a link to politico who will also have the primary results.
