And yet hardly anything today about it on the “mainstream” news.

The left won’t even use the term illegal immigrant/alien, even though 15-25 years ago they did…so, I think that’s your answer.

He’s gone

If you’re for seatbelt mandates and not for banning motorcycles then your hypocrisy is showing. And last I checked, you can still wear a seatbelt even if the government didn’t make it punishable by law if you don’t wear one.

So Biden literally colluded with Russia for political gain…

The dude literally was speaking in generalities about felons being able to reintegrate into our society by getting a job they would have been able to get before their felony…so I asked him if he would be ok with hiring a certain kind of a felon for a certain kind of job. Not sure if you know what a strawman is, but asking a question within the bounds of the general argument is not a strawman. Had he had only said “I’m ok with pilots who are convicted felons going back to flying commercial airplanes” and I reply “So you must be ok with hiring a convicted child molester to watch your kids”…then that would have been a strawman.
-
You/your spouse has never paid someone to watch your children…like a baby sitter? Do you homeschool as well? If so, good on you…but most people have allowed their children at one point or another to be in the care of someone else who is not a close friend/family member. And I don’t know anyone who would be ok with allowing a convicted murderer, rapists, or child molester to be in care of their children. Likewise I think we can find adequate applicants, who have not been convicted of violent crimes, to professionally fly planes with passengers.
-
Not at all. Dude literally said he didn’t care if someone is a former felon wrt hiring for a job. I then asked him if he will hire a specific type of felon for a specific type of job.

Would you pay to have a convicted child molester watch your young children?

Well, let’s see…I would prefer someone who: 1. Doesn’t want to ban AR-15s and similar type sporting rifles 2. Doesn’t want to require backgound checks for private sales…and essentially then creating a registry 3. Didn’t support Bernie Sanders 4. Didn’t endorse Joe Biden 5. Doesn’t support ending cash bail 6. Doesn’t support raising the federal min wage to $15/hr (pre-covid btw) 7. Doesn’t support forcing businesses to provide for family paid sick leave, etc 8. Doesn’t support “free” college…ie forcing taxpayers to pay someone else’s tuition 9. Doesn’t want forced closure of existing nuclear power plants 10. Doesn’t support “Medicare for all” …I can go on, if you’d like? As for who I would support…ummm, a lot of people over her. Rand Paul? Ron DeSantis? Chris Sununu? Nikki Haley?

Unless she’s drastically changed her position on the issues, that’s a hard pass for me. https://www.politico.com/2020-election/candidates-views-on-the-issues/tulsi-gabbard/

1) He’s a convicted felon? 2) Don’t care, doesn’t change my original statement…it’s an issue of risk. How many violent criminals are repeat offenders? We can have a discussion about prison/sentencing reform, judicial reform, rehabilitation, etc (probably better on a different thread), but as a business owner, you should do what’s best for the business, and that includes risk management.
-
If two applicants are more/less exactly the same wrt experience/qualifications for a job, and one is a convicted felon and one is not, why would an employer hire the felon? I sure as hell wouldn’t.

Famous line from the leftists: “No one wants to take your guns away.”

If 20 years is “predatory”, then what isn’t? 18 years, 16 years?…10 years? And young people sign contracts/documents that can change their lives all the time…a regular enlistment, purchasing a house, a school loan, changing your genitals, you name it. You’re either an adult (who can vote for a president with the ability to destroy nations), or you’re not. It’s not that young people don’t often know what they’re signing…it’s just that at the time they’re ok with it. How many people are happy when they get married vs those who get divorced. It’s a future-them problem.

There is currently no shortage of eligible candidates who want to attend pilot training and incur the current ADSC.

Biden already said he wouldn’t change a thing going forward…so we shall see.

It’s not too often that Prozac and I agree on things, so when it happens, it’s worth mentioning.

Hawaii at the time was a US territory, most definitely part of the US. It would be the same today if China attacked Guam. Which I don’t see happening in my lifetime.
-
I’m old enough to remember the Cold War…yep, never had combat troops in the USSR and the Soviet Union never physically attacked the US. I do think it’s funny when people compare the US of today to 1941…seems more different in a lot of ways than not.
-
Being invaded in mainland US is a lot different than China attacking one of our overseas bases. Ukraine was attacked/invaded, which is very different than if one of their hypothetical far away overseas bases were attacked. I appreciate your post, but it’s not even close to the same thing. Hence why we don’t invade Iran when it directly/indirectly attacks one of our bases in Iraq. I am quite confident I’ll never live to see China physically attacking us anywhere in the US, and likewise I’m confident I’ll never see combat troops in mainland China.
-
The culture of the US is ever changing, especially in the last 20-30 years…I don’t think it’s for the overall better when it’s all said and done, but it’s changing none the less. Likewise, this will affect how the US responds and how successful it would be against such attack. When is the last time that the US was attacked? 9-11…and it’s not like it took a lot of new ingenuity/innovation to defeat the Taliban and go after terrorist camps. And last I checked, the Taliban is still in control, trillions of dollars later. The time before then…WW2, and we’re not even close to the same America as we were back then. China could attack an American base, and I don’t believe I would see an American combat troop in mainland China because no one wants to see that for the reasons already listed above.

Does anyone actually believe there won’t be cuts to the military in the next 1-2 years?

Biden won while losing all 3 of those states.
