  1. And to tie this all with the Ukraine stuff, if someone believes that our country’s financial situation is a greater threat to our country than Ukraine being able to have more weapons to fight Russia (I for one believe it is), then you can’t be all for giving Ukraine hundreds of billions of dollars without at least massive cuts to other spending areas. And if politicians believe that all this spending is necessary, then sure, vote to raise to taxes…it won’t end well though as we have a spending problem and not a tax problem. At some point we need to wise up with our massively bloated defense and “security” spending for other countries and say enough is enough. Or, we get further in debt, and the monetary system continues to use inflation to fight it and the people (especially the middle and lower class) will continue to have to make harder decisions on what they can afford.
  2. This isn’t surprising at all based all on what she’s been saying the last year. Though I like a lot of what she’s been saying, until she says “I was wrong on…gun control, government spending, taxes, increased government regulation, etc because of X, Y, Z” (don’t forget, she was a Democrat with a voting record and positions on issues), then I still would never vote for her compared to someone else with a stronger record on those issues I just mentioned. Just my $.02.
  3. So you’re for cutting wasteful spending for our children, but all for spending 100 Billion (and I’m assuming more if needed?) for Ukraine? That’s one of the first place we should be cutting spending. That’s why I don’t believe you’re for cutting waste. As for raising taxes—by how much? And I’m sure that won’t also affect economic growth.
  4. Read what you just wrote…
  5. What’s another 100 Billion?
  6. You can hate Trump, but if you believe is true justice, this should bother you. Not only did they have this trial in a place where its citizens are overwhelmingly against Trump politically, but the judge is clearly biased against the defendant, and the charges are being twisted to say, “well, it would be a misdemeanor with expired statutory of limitations but now how he did it somehow makes it a felony”…and for the final act, the judge now tells the jury that they don’t have to all agree on what the same crime is/was committed for there to be a conviction. Not even to mention that the media keeps calling this a “hush money to a porn star case”, which is not illegal.
  7. Politics is politics. All politicians break promises, for better or worse. I care about what benefits American citizens always before I care about what benefits those who are not, regardless if it takes a broken promise to do so.
  8. Come on now…we all know that supporting ceasefires and peace agreements is only cool if the two sides are Hamas and Israel, and only cool when Hamas wants it.
  9. That tells me that if you think inflation has been bad the last few years, then just wait. Also welcome to even higher interest rates (not necessarily the worst thing). I don’t see how this will be good for the economy for the average Joe shmoe and I think we’ll definitely see some pushback from the electorate.
  10. Whenever we as a country get serious about the debt/deficit spending (it will have to happen sooner or later, and I’m guessing at least within the next 5-10 years), cuts to military spending will most definitely have to be on the table. There is no way we can economically grow our way (or tax our way) out of this massive spending/borrowing problem we have, especially when it seems the country wants to make it much harder to do business. Over my last decade or so in the military I always thought it was hilarious how officers (on both sides of the political aisle) were so concerned about the military needing more money and didn’t seem to be even a little concerned about our fiscal situation. Our biggest problems in the near/mid future will be internal not external…but hey, what’s another hundred billion dollars for Ukraine, Taiwan, and Israel?
  11. And our President offered condolences for the President dying of the country who launched those drone attacks. Yeah, I don’t understand it either.
  12. I’m not saying I personally disagree with you but I don’t know what the detailed laws are in Florida. I’d like to think that what he did violates policy/breaks the law and that he’ll get a fair trial.
  13. While I mentioned earlier that I didn’t like what I saw on the bodycam, and if he is fairly prosecuted, then I hope he goes to jail for a long time. But that all being said…what if the state comes back and determines it was a legitimate shoot and no prosecution? I don’t know the finer details of Florida laws, especially when it comes to when a police officer is allowed to use force. Again, I definitely didn’t like what I saw, but will people accept the officer not being charged, or if charged, found not guilty? I think for most people their minds have been made up, and that’s also not the best thing. At this point, we just need to let the process play out.
  14. …and the White House offers their condolences. From the same county that just a few weeks ago launched a massive attack against our greatest ally in the region, and that we used our own military to stop. https://thehill.com/homenews/administration/4675189-us-offers-condolences-criticism-in-aftermath-of-iranian-presidents-death/?fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTEAAR1SB9nmEg7TYr6iGKPEonzgoSIObuhtM6bOKHH5DI5OFD0o8l5luHmOt7E_aem_AenWzSEhLKq6lwo0StfQZ0LPvtyV4TCgQm3gekjrKG0MCqF1i0_3GjlyS61y5SRkoTUqZLLwpOvuVMxMCitu8G9D
  15. Wait, are you saying I’ll overall have less liberty with “King Trump” than I currently do with Biden?
  16. 1) Never trust the first DIM count 2) Given that it sounds like the weather was absolute dogshit and they were flying in the mountains…oh and that they’re Iranian pilots (I can’t imagine they’re any better than the Iraqi pilots I flew with), my bet is they’re all probably dead. 3) I’m sure Israel will be blamed for it somehow
  17. So Trump is likely not to publicly name his VP pick until at the convention? Definitely a late announcement compared to recent times but I guess this way he can delay his choice based on what’s happening in the country, and it will also boost the coverage of the convention. One of the betting sites has Burgum as the favorite—I don’t see it, but what do I know? I’m thinking Scott or possibly Rubio. https://www.oddschecker.com/us/insight/specials/politics/20240514-donald-trump-vice-president-odds-latest-trump-vp-odds-have-doug-burgum-as-the-favorite
  18. Ouch…shouldn’t we all be defaulted the benefit of being innocent until due process says otherwise? Maybe it’s a certain level of semantics, but “innocent until proven guilty” should mean it when we say it. I understand that precautions had to be put in place at times, and you couldn’t assume the accusation/issue should be over and done with until an investigation/due process has run its course, but if you’re not giving the immediate benefit of the doubt to the accused, (what I define as innocence), then I have even more serious concerns with AF leadership than when I was still AD (and I definitely had still had some serious concerns here and there with certain leaders). Maybe I’m just misunderstanding you or words mean one thing to me and another to you? Perhaps this is how the UCMJ reads and I’m just very ignorant of the matter as I was never in legal or a commander?
  19. Zelensky has literally said his objectives are to regain all lost territory, to include the Crimea. I do not think this will happen, and I think the longer the fighting goes on, Ukraine loses more, not less territory. You can provide whatever analysis you want, but I’m speaking strictly on simple predictions which you seem to not want to provide. If I can provide a simple prediction to a simple question, then surely you are able to do the same. If I’m wrong, then so be it, but at least I’ll provide a prediction.
  20. It’s literally the same question I asked earlier.
  21. I’m sure just another $60B will do the trick. If Ukraine’s objective is to push Russia completely out of their country and regain the Crimea (as Zelensky has said), then Ukraine is most definitely not winning. I asked you a simple question if you or anyone else believes that Ukraine can regain all lost territory, including the Crimea, and you weren’t able to provide a simple yes or no answer. My answer is a clear no.
  22. Ok, I’ll take all that as a no. Usually when you can’t win a war you try to negotiate the best terms you can make in order to avoid losing more territory, resources, and people. If Russia keeps advancing and Ukraine keeps on losing more, then how does continuing to fight vs attempting to negotiate help Ukraine’s cause?
  23. Does anyone actually believe that Russia will be defeated and/or Ukraine will regain all its territory, to include the Crimea? Honest question.
  24. The Sheriff is elected, where’s as a military leader is not. So it’s very unlike the military.
  25. If only we had this a few years ago, then we wouldn’t have failed in Afghanistan.
