My guess is that it was on base--otherwise I'm not so certain the squadron commander would be as involved (if at all). Plus if you look at the link below, you can have a loaded pistol in your car in AL, if you have a valid CCW permit (assuming he had one, which most people that have loaded weopans outside their home seem to have). Again, just my guess. I'm not all suggesting that someone should violate base regs, but for those who may forget to 'not' have a firearm when they drive on base, I have never heard of an individual being searched unless they are being detained/arrested...however, I have heard (and personally experienced) many times of cars being randomly searched for whatever reason. Hopefully the guy doesn't get more than an LOC, though in these times, I have a feeling he'll get an LOR or worse. https://whnt.com/2013/07/30/alabamas-new-gun-law-what-you-need-to-know/

Dude, are you drunk? I even posted a video of a white guy (since you seem to be stuck on race, but you must have failed to notice that video) getting out of his car and unloading an AK-47 on cops--all showing that cops have no clue what you are doing when you make sudden movements, and sometimes those sudden movements turn out to be white, black, purple, pokadot (again, since you're so stuck on race) guys shooting at cops. As me, M2, and others have said--it's important to learn to not make any sudden movements when police are interacting with you. So unless you have some awesome and realistic plan to get rid of all the 'sub-par' cops, I recommend that you, me, and others don't do things to give police a bad reason to quickly react in an incorrect manner and shoot you. But since I asked, what is your recommendation to keep this from happening? Different training? Better screening of potential LE officials, and if so, how exactly? I'm a big fan of each State requiring their LE officials wear body cameras when interacting with the public, though I don't think that would have changed much here since it was caught on his own dash cam. Not one person on here said the cop didn't make a horrible mistake/use bad judgement (which is at the criminal level IMO), that he should get to be part of LE ever again, and that he shouldn't be found guilty and sent to prison. Are you suggesting that 99.9% of cops want to shoot people? Because 99.9% of the time people dont get shot when interacting with LE. I am all for not blindly following a cop's directive if you think your Rights are being violated, but even this has to be done in a smart way. You can always argue the details later with a lawyer if need be--below is a great video of a guy not doing what the police ask him, but also not making sudden movements while doing so. But hey, if you think you are above doing things smartly, even if you're in the right, then I wish you luck. They can put on your tomb stone 'But he was right...'

1st female Air Force combat vet in run for congress

No worries. Do I think she'd be better than Barber--yes (probably would vote to steel less of my money). Do I think there are better people out there to represent that district--I sure hope so. Fortunately (or unfortunately?), nothing really is riding on this House race, outside of the work they will do specifically for their district...unlike the handful of competitive Senate races which will determine the balance of power/control in the Senate. Even in swing districts/States, it's typically really hard to beat an incumbent. I'm a big supporter of amending The Constitution to have term limits, but I don't see this happening in my lifetime. I'd say vote your conscience...there should be more people than just her and Barber on the ballot. -
Not at all--hence why I said that this pretty bad, that I hope the cop never gets to be a cop again, that it's good the man is recovering, and that the cop deserves a nice prison sentence. Forgot to add that I hope the man gets a monetary reward for his suffering. I was very clearly insinuating that when a cop is asking you for something, it's smart to not make any sudden movements, especially without letting them know what you are doing first. It's kind of like saying 'but I had the right of way' when driving...and then you get hit by a car and put in the hospital. Yes, you were correct, but you still got hit and are now in the hospital when you could have just let the other car in front of you. The cop was very much in the wrong, however, if the man had shown his hands and asked if he could get it the car for his ID then I have a feeling none of this would have happened. So there's being 'right' and then there's also understanding the situation. The best is to be both at the same time.

Yeah, this one is pretty damn bad. The good news is that he'll most likely never be a cop again, and even better news is that the man who got shot is recovering. This all being said, there's still a lesson to be learned: If you're going to comply with a LE's directive (if you don't feel you need to then that's a totally different discussion, depending on the situation), it's a good idea to announce any of your movements...just like flying a crew aircraft, communication is key. So if you need to get into your glove box to pull out your registration, tell them that first. I am by no means giving this cop a pass (I hope he serves a nice sentence), but at the same time just because I'm not being aggressive towards an officer while making sudden movements, doesn't mean I want to get shot. Just my $.02 Here are a couple examples of people not being so innocent when being pulled over. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ililCtp0Bk

Rog! I was wondering, "someone must really hate boobs". Haha.

We definitely need more beheading control...ok, that's too soon. Good to see that the armed owner took matters into his own hands before the other person was also killed. https://news.yahoo.com/police-woman-beheaded-oklahoma-workplace-144459291.html

She really needs a boob job, and bad. Paris Hilton that is, not her dog.

Are you not voting for her because you don't like her/don't want to see her as your Congresswoman, or is it because you don't like her stance on various issues and how she will most likely vote in the House? There are (usually) more than two people to choose from in national elections, and that being said, a person doesn't need to always vote for the 'D' or 'R' candidate 'just because'. Since you told us who you will not be voting for, mind sharing who you will be voting for and why? -
Seems this woman in California got a real taste of what those in the federal government are supposed to do when faced with an active shooter situation: Hide and pray that the police get there before the potential attacker does. https://www.firstcoastnews.com/story/news/weird/2014/09/25/woman-escapes-intruder-roof/16236141/ https://alerts.si.edu/docs/DHS_ActiveShooterBook.pdf

Here's my take on it: It's a not surprise he's going to get saluted when he walks off his aircraft, so either be ready and do it appropriately or just don't even do it at all. This goes for any President, regardless of whether they have a latte or a silly dog in their hand/arms. It comes down to mutual respect, and yes, even for the President.

Either way, he really, really appreciates the help. Crossing the 'red line' now equates to us doing your dirty work. Didn't the President say mulitple times that Assad's days were numbered? -

I wouldn't call it either. It is true that citizens of the original country (the US) were fighting each other, however, the Confederacy wasn't trying to take over the northern States. If we call the war between the Union and the Confederacy a civil war, then you would have to call the Reviolutionary War also a 'civil war'. Perhaps I'm missing something. I'm still waiting for Lawman's response to my original question... Maybe we should stop calling it a 'Union' or the 'United' States? If mafia/gang rules style apply (you can join you just can't leave) then the federal government can essentially do whatever they want to the States and the Constitution is just something nice to have, but doesn't need to be followed...or can be 'interpreted' to mean something completely different than it means today, or meant over 200 years ago. Here's what Thomas Jefferson said about secession in his First Inaugural Address. I love Walter Williams--he's good shit. And what's James Madison had to say... https://capitalismmagazine.com/2002/04/do-states-have-a-right-of-secession/
-
The 'United' States doesn't sound like much of a 'union' if one State wishes to leave and the federal government/other States forces them to stay...or am I mistaken? So what's your definition of a union? Oh and it's 'secession'.

Just curious what you guys will think will happen later this week with the vote in Scotland? And if they do vote for independence, what are the positives and negatives we might see as a result in Scotland, the rest of the UK, the EU, and here in the US? My bet is that it will be a somewhat close vote (with 5-10 points), but that they remain with the UK for the near future, though this might give more steam to their independence movement vs crushing it. A strong part of me would like to see it happen, if nothing else just to see how things will shake out. My number concern is the delicious scotch--as long as it continues to flow (like 'where the beer flows like wine') and at close to the same price, then I'm good! It's all about priorities...

I think tac airlifter replied appropriately. It has to do with overall length and transportability, as I'm sure you understand (or not?). Some people want to be able to have many of the same benefits of a having a 'rifle' in a small carry bag/backpack, under the seat of a car, etc. So until Congress repeals the NFA requirement of SBR's or a federal judge overturns the law as unConstitutional, this is the next best thing without having to go through the NFA hassle. I don't doubt the spec differences in using a shorter barrel and a non-adjustable 'stock', but then again, you can carry a Ruger LCP in .380 in your pants front pocket, or a heavy Desert Eagle in .50AE on your hip/in your backpack.
-
I've have never fired an AR/AK using it, but I have shouldered a few different configurations at gun shows over the last year. It's obviously not a 'stock' but, like you mentioned, works pretty well when you consider it allows you to effectivley shoulder a non-SBR SBR and avoid the NFA BS. I think the key is to have a buffer tube setup (long enough, etc) that allows the shooter to get a comfortable position when shouldering the brace. The link you provided shows some good options, but it seems KAK Industry (ironically located in CA) has some of the best options available for a reasonable price. I really like the quick detach/attach of the 'Dolos' that MAC uses in the video. Here's a short video he posted on his FB page (30 Aug) with one of his guys using a folding 'stock' for DI AR's with the Dolos: https://www.facebook.com/militaryarms?ref=ts&fref=ts

When you say 'we' are you implying the military, Congress, or the country as a whole?

The link/video below is worthy of at least being discussed...whether in a positive or negative way. My personal opinion hasn't changed: Let the Iraqis give them damn near everything they have first, in conjunction with/followed by neighboring countries (for those that actually care), then other countries in the world who also have an interest...and so on. As a citizen I'm not supportive of the US getting involved right away 'just because'. Besides, what's the point of saying you want to destroy something if you're already promising that you aren't willing to do all that may (and probably will) be necessary (ie "boots on the ground")? https://video.foxnews.com/v/3768333397001/president-george-w-bushs-chilling-warning-on-iraq-in-2007/#sp=show-clips

I have to be honest guys, this excites me.

Why do they need to go to Canada? We have millions of illegals here and it's all good.

Agreed, he is innocent until proven guilty. But also agree that show is pretty stupid. I was a big fan the first 1-2 seasons, and then it just got too lame. Hopefully Discovery Channel can find a better show about guns.
