  1. Based on the USAF clamshell hangar and the A-10s on the ramp, shouldn't this thread be called "Bagram at the Beginning of the War"? I find it hard to believe these things were there before the war. Great pics, though. It still looked a lot like that as late as '06. The only things that look the same now are the mountains.
  2. That place would blow your mind if you saw it now. My first trip there was in 2006 and it is unrecognizable even from then.
  3. How did a Democrat get Rainman's cock?
  4. It was pretty nice to watch a military movie that didn't make me cringe at all the interactions between military members or have me picking holes in every little detail because it didn't make sense, even if the acting was pretty bad in a few places. Also, the interrogation scene was awesome and hilarious at the same time.
  5. Extreme?! He's lucky he didn't get an Article 15. How can the folks on the ground down range expect him to shit in his assigned stall if he can't even be trusted to make sure all the candy bar labels in the snack room are facing forward?
  6. If you have 18 priorities, are any of them really priorities? I think this guy needs to look up the definition of "priority" and then take a class on prioritizing.
  7. Damn. Here's to you, boys.
  8. What kind of plane and where were they out of? I still cant't find any details online.
  9. It's got nothing on NEFlyer's pics above, but here's some decent Herk porn if your into that kind of thing: https://www.dvidshub....ls#.Tzne_Yl5mc1 Doesn't really show off the really cool stuff the Herk can do, but there are some really nice shots flying around NorCal, up the Pacific Coast Highway and over the Golden Gate Bridge. Edit: You can also click on some links to some other, less cool, AMC jets doing the same thing.
  10. I just got a brochure in the mail for the Roth TSP. It sounds like for all the reasons stated above, and for the same reason it makes sense to max out the Roth IRA before contributing to TSP, that for most people it would make sense to contribute ONLY to the Roth TSP. Am I missing anything with this line of thought? Also, does anyone have any good gouge on which funds to contribute to? The G and F seem to be the most consistent with the C, S and I being pretty hit or miss the last couple years.
  11. Haha, that series of posts just took me 5 minutes of rereading to understand WTF you guys were talking about...well-played.
  12. I was talking to one of the AMP OT&E guys the other day and it sounds like AMP is dead for good this time. Even though those tails were H2.5 and H3s, they're bound for the boneyard.
  13. No. The House is. "Dirty" Harry Reid is still the Senate Majority Leader.
  14. I agree. I kept waiting for this one to be as funny as the one from Balad where the guy punched a shoe in the face for reaching into his shower (which this guy was clearly trying to imitate) but it just never happened.
  15. I keep trying to snap a picture of our video marquee on base that has the advertisement for TIB, then they stamp a big "Cancelled" on top of it. If I didn't know better, I'd say whoever in PA runs that marquee is not a fan.
  16. Necessary because of sweat or required by some local reg? Just curious. How does the roll out of a program like this affect guys flying AMC aircraft in an FTU? Will I have to wait until I get back to AMC to get issued whatever product wins the bid?
  17. Does anybody in AMC besides legacy Herk guys actually fly with gloves on these days?
  18. I'm trying to remember...is this the same legislation that didn't get passed until the spring last year that delayed the Major's board results from coming out until April? And shortly after this gets signed we should hear the results for the most recent board shortly thereafter? Or am I way off base?
  19. It won't go down. I just checked my LES and I am still getting the rate for 2010 ($1380), but the 2011 rate is $1320. 2012 rate is $1332, so I'm assuming I'll keep my 2010 rate another year.
  20. But that's not the case, they'll still have the same number of day VLL and NVG VLL currencies, which are dual loggable with formation. Might save a little with not having a SKE requirement, however. I'm just not concinced the cost savings are there.
  21. Worst money saving idea ever. They are not losing their airdrop requirement, just formation. So they will still have to make passes over the same DZ as everyone else to log their currencies. As long as one other C-130 in the wing is flying on the same day as these non-formation guys, which is the case 99.999999% of the time, AMC is saving exactly zero dollars because they might as well have been in formation. I think it will actually cost money, especially at KLRF where we pay civilians to run the drop zone. Since the non-formation guys will need 5 minutes of separation from every body else, the DZ will need to be manned longer since the TOT blocks are already maxed out all day every day. My $0.02.
  22. Ha, good one. I always appreciate a good C-17 jab.
  23. Or two Herks. I was on a two ship tasked to go fly them from Kunsan to Osan two days before Christmas because the roads were closed due to snow. You can guaran-damn-tee I would've been pissed if I had to spend Christmas in Korea because of those no talent ass clowns.
  24. All three of you, Fuck off. I was merely pointing out the irony of one religion basing its precepts on the foundations of a religion that is over four thousand years old and then spending the next 1400 years pitting itself against the religion on which it was based...to the point where a large segment of the new religion states as one of its goals wiping the foundational religion off the face of the planet. Thanks for the second grade history lesson.
  25. Gotta love a Muslim holiday where they celebrate the father of the Jews.
