But seriously though, what is crusades?

Try doing a search where you actually spell "Dining" correctly.

Beijing has everything (Great Wall, Forbidden City, Tienamen Square, etc.) if you only have the time/money to go to one place. My wife and I got a guide and a driver, plus hotel and great meals for every meal for about $800 total. That obviously doesn't cover the plane trip there. Having a guide and a driver was amazing, never had to worry about how to from one place to the next or backtracking. We'd walk all the way through one place and the driver would be waiting on the other side to take us to the next place.

OK, I can't believe this misuse of Bible quotes made it two pages without being addressed. The books of Deuteronomy and Isaiah are from the Old Testament, which is the book of God's Old Covenant (The Law) with his people (Israel.) The New Testament discusses God's New Covenant (Jesus) with his people (everyone.) Jesus' death on the cross replaced the laws from the Old Testament that you quoted, which makes them, to all intents and purposes, irrelevant to Christians. Notice how Christians don't put women out of the village for 7 days when they are on their period? Same thing. The scripture you quoted from Luke is the words of Jesus quoting a nobleman in a parable. You basically pulled a Michael Moore there by completely taking Jesus out of context. For all you John Boyd fans out there, here is a great article about Fort Hood and 4GW by William S. Lind. Link

That explains a lot. Dudes were making position reports all up and down the Boulevard through Pakistan today in their best pirate voices. There seemed to be a whole fleet of pirate call signs out there as well. I thought the funniest part was when they would get toned multiple times as they were finishing their calls. I guess not everyone thinks pirate talk is cool. BTW, what's the background behind this?

Where are Baltimore's Js going?

Nice "Sun Tzu" quote...I'll give you twenty virtual beers if you can tell me what chapter that's in. Edit: The original "quote" dropped out. Here's what it said: Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat.

I agree completely. I just can't see the Air Force ever getting a combat uniform right, so those guys that need one will never wear whatever the AF has.

Whats the funniest thing you've heard over the radio?

From OAKN Appch: Reach 123 turn left direct Kandahar. When you roll out, the airfield will be at your 12 o'clock. -
Ever seen a JTAC or a PJ wear an actual AF uniform? Every time I've worked with them, they have been wearing not necessarily uniforms but tactical clothing that is suited to the job they are doing. They could care less what the rest of the AF is wearing because they wear what they need. All this bickering over the functionality of the ABU is pointless because no one who actually wears the ABU will ever wear it in combat (with the possible exception of folks pulling convoy duty and the aforementioned sky cops defending the base during an attack.) If the ABU is suitable only to the office environment, then that's probably a good thing, because that's where it will be worn 99% of the time.

...or if you are a C-17 guy, another man's penis.

I've always wondered why it is unprofessional to roll up your sleeves in a flightsuit, but its OK to roll 'em up in BDUs/ABUs.

Go arounds are free...totalling your plane isn't

Maybe he just thought he really greased it in and was wondering why his brakes didn't work. -
nsplayr must have an Obama criticism alert app on his iPhone so he can immediately respond on baseops to anyone who says anything about the CinC.

Nice response by MKopack. Why does that name sound familiar...

My question is...does Booth Johnson know he looks like Brit Hume?

VC-25 (AF One) and F-16s do some sightseeing...
LockheedFix replied to LJ Driver's topic in General Discussion
1) Talk radio 2) Internet 3) TV 4) Hard copy newsprint Here's why: 1) On talk radio, you actually get pretty in depth analysis and commentary from people who actually know what they're talking about because they have done actual research. If you don't believe me, listen to Andrew Wilkow. That guy is brilliant, and has actually read silly little things that are relevant to the way the country should be run, such as the Constitution, and how it should not be run, like the Communist Manifesto. 2) Internet because I can easily do my own research and form my own opinion based on facts, not feelings. 3) TV is lower because it shows 2 minute blurbs on where the President ate a hamburger, drools over how great Michelle is, and then throws in a quick "oh by the way, the deficit this year will be 3 trillion dollars, blame George Bush" before cutting to 7 hours of coverage of the latest rich white girl that has been kidnapped. 4) The newspaper sucks because it has the same news I read yesterday on the internet, except it's only from one source. It is only good for getting local news, and I have no way to check on how biased its political reporting is. -
So wait, did the woman in comfortable shoes have to go through customs every time...or...huh?

I hear they are planning a heritage flight of B-29s over Hiroshima next. It'll be a good photo op. -
I agree with what you are saying and have heard all the reasons that you mentioned and how they can lead to hot brakes. It is a little different in the J however, since we can put all four all the way to reverse in LSGI. Couple that with oil cooler augmentation, and you can easily taxi all the way to the runway and never touch the brakes except for checking them. Now take what you said and apply that to the discussion in the 'Deid thread about the aborted T&G. You've just landed after an approach, your brakes should be nice and cool. Now assuming you didn't float the landing, even after resetting the flaps and trim you should have at least 6,000' feet left even after pushing the throttles back toward takeoff. I just find it funny that people were talking about a Q-3 for aborting in this situation.
-
No offense taken. I was just starting the conversation to see different points of view.
-
In order to not derail a classic thread, but continue a rather good discussion, I'll pose this question here. What is so "dangerous" about a high speed abort on a long runway? I hear people brief over and over that they would rather continue the takeoff for "x" than do a high speed abort. Here is my take on it (keep in mind, all my experience is in the C-130 and we routinely take off and land with about 8,000' more than we actually need.) Say you're taking off full length on Runway 25 at LRF. You have 12,000' of runway in front of you. Say you get an abort call just before rotating, we'll call it 110 KIAS. Definitely a high speed abort. But you also have about 9,000' feet of runway in front of you and you are also at an airspeed that would be just a little higher than your touchdown speed. So you are in basically the same situation as if you had landed fast, 2,000' long. I have seen numerous people brief avoiding the dreaded high speed abort for a minor malfunction as if their brakes will catch fire and kill everyone on board, and most of those same people would have no qualms about landing 8 KIAS fast with 9,000' remaining. So what's the difference." Discuss. (DISCLAIMER: I did not reference the -1-1 for any of the hypothetical TOLD in this scenario.)

I apologize if this has already been posted. I did a search but didn't find it. This was on the wall in a gun shop in Wheatland, OK.

On an interesting side note, the black chick in that commercial was in the TV show Prison Break. She played the wife of the dude that told his family he was in Iraq while he was really in prison. I always wondered if that AFN commercial was her big break.

Flying C-130H2s with the Reserves at Colorado Springs is supposed to be opening up later this year, too.
