    My '14 Ecoboost owners manual recommends 87 octane. I've never put a drop of premium fuel in my truck. The $100 cutoff used to annoy me, but now I don't bother with the second transaction. It's usually only a couple gallons more for the top off, and after I've spent $100 on gas I don't care to spend any more. I still get that sweet 650+ mile range displayed. I agree the bedliner hooks are annoying, so I put some cheap carabiners on them. It helps some. Though if I fill the bed completely with dirt or gravel I still can't get to them. Definitely get a backup camera. I bought a full size truck for the sole reason that I wanted something large and obnoxious. America. So while I'll never complain about it being too big, get the camera. I only occasionally tow, but if I was a regular tower I would get the max tow option for the wider wheelbase. The one downside to the Ecoboost is the location of stuff in the engine. It's a standard Duratec engine which wasn't designed for the F150 originally, so the oil filter and oil pan are in really odd spots. It is physically impossible to change the oil without making a mess.

    After test driving the usual suspects I decided on the F150 with the Ecoboost. All the power of a V8 with the efficiency of a smaller V6. I really liked the Tundra, but the 150 had more of the creature comforts and techno features. Plus I'm partial to Fords. So far I love everything about it, but I haven't had it long enough for reliability feedback. Whatever you do, don't get a Titan. Overpriced and under-delivered compared to everyone else.
  4. There are publications besides the TO that tell aircrew how to employ their systems in a tactical environment. I don't have access to it in my home vault, but I'd be shocked if that little gem of knowledge regarding the Sniper pod wasn't available to them. Regardless, the B-1 has been doing CAS-lite for a long time now. I'm sure someone in the squadron had already figured that out, even if it wasn't formally published. To be clear, I do not know the details of this situation, I don't know the crew, and I'm not throwing blame spears here. It's a shitty situation all around. But if true, it is inexcusable to not know the basic capabilities of your systems.

  6. What do you mean "waste your HOR move"? Is that related to your HOR move when you separate? If you like your car I wouldn't buy a truck. That being said, I have a truck and I think everyone else should have one too. You can rent a truck from uhaul that has a tow dolly to tow your car. Also, you could mail stuff to yourself. Save your postal receipts and you can get reimbursed for the mailing as if it was a DITY (or PPM) move. You don't get 1 for 1 reimbursement, so don't go nuts on priority or overnight shipping.
  7. I've had annual fees and foreign transaction fees refunded for my other AMEX card I haven't tried a Delta certificate, but every time I use the card for Delta purchases like booze, it's refunded on my statement within a couple days.
  8. That should be waived anyway for most folks. I can't remember the AFI off the top of my nugget, but you can refuse any ADSC for formal flying training that takes you beyond your initial commitment from UPT/UNT. Ops check good for FTU instructor course I'm currently in. Suck it 3 year ADSC!

  10. I've only seen that at NAS Pensacola in front of the O'club. Of course it said 'any ENS', but same difference. I was told that if you parked in that spot and were caught you had to buy a round. I was cheap and never parked there, so who knows if that's true. I was an AF Lt, so I might have had an out, but I didn't quibble enough to find out.

  12. Rank among Lts is like virtue among whores. The biggest downfall I've seen of prior E 2Lts is that they think they've already paid their dues and their shit don't stink. Realize you're starting over again and you're a brand new retard. That being said, you're more experienced and knowledgable than the average 2Lt. This ain't your first rodeo. Use this opportunity to help and mentor your fellow retards. When I was brand new I was helped by a prior E fellow 2Lt who explained the ways of the Air Force to me. You'll also have the respect of the enlisted from Day One. That is not the case for most officers. Use that to your advantage. Be humble. Also, STFU. You'll know it's time to start talking when people ask you your opinion. That probably won't happen until you're a Capt.

  14. A guy in my squadron brought over a Corvette and didn't seem to have any issues. But it wasn't his daily drive, so that probably helped. Shop selection is important. The dude at the Lakenheath Auto Hobby shop did a nice job on the light conversion on my wife's Acura. He used low profile LEDs. Depending on how your car is designed will affect what modifications you need. They were fairly minimal on my wife's car. They have a DSN number, so you can give them a call and get the details for your situation. PM me if you need the number. Overall I would say bring whatever car you want. You'll be fine. Inbound folks always overthink the car situation. Don't stress it. All left hand drive cars will have visibility issues, not just sports cars. Just accept the fact it's more difficult to pass on those winding back roads. You get used to it. My wife never had any issues with her RDX and it was great to have a left hand drive for road trips to the continent.

  17. No, he's right. You have to work the problem backwards. So if the claim was 45% of the Air Force are pilots, but only 4.5% are actually pilots, the claim would still be valid per the 10% rule. Only 10% of the claim has to be true for the statement to be accepted. However, it's supposed to be more of a WAG and less of a math problem. I don't do math at the bar.
  18. The analogy is of a power company is a bit off. Its more like a toll road. The builder of the toll road who used private funds to build should certainly expect to charge for use of that road. Most toll roads charge commercial traffic more than they do small car traffic. But this is like charging UPS more to use the toll road than FedEx. 10 years ago that might have been a reasonable COA for an ISP. But with today's technology dependence the internet connection has taken the place of a road. If not already a de facto utility it will be in the near future. We need need to think 10 years from now.   19. I wear just the standard BCD frames when I fly. No comfort issues, although most of my flights are of the <1.5 variety. The only drawback with glasses vs contacts is during DBFM you find yourself looking under the glasses sometimes when cranking around to look at deep 6. I guess the secret is just to be better at BFM and then you have nothing to worry about.
  20. Same here. I just closed on an original home purchase at 3.75% from NBoKC. I worked with Dave Nichols instead of Dave Devine, but the other Dave was awesome. He was quick to reply to any query even at odd hours. He made it an easy process with everything over the phone or email. When I originally asked USAA for a quote it took them 3 days to get it to me and they only offered 4.0%. Dave got back to me with his quote in 2 hours of my initial request and even apologized for it taking so long. Great service. I looked into a refi on my other VA loan, but since I've already refi'd at fairly competitive rates NBoKC wasn't able to make the refi worth my while. I regret not looking into it a year ago when rates were even better than now. I doubt we'll see those rates again.
  21. I had MPF put on my orders that I was allowed to self procure up to the amount SATO would have paid. I was reimbursed up to that amount.
