  1. It could easily be 6 months before your refs hear anything. You don't need a clearance during UPT, just after. I think most people do have one by then (at least a Secret), but it's not a game ender if you don't. I wouldn't sweat it, a couple months in the security investigation world is chump change. Sounds like you're doing everything you smartly can regarding the budget management. Just be 100% honest on paperwork and in interviews; I think you'll be fine.
  2. Wow. To bring it back the other way, my current sq/cc sat himself for over speeding the gear by 1 knot for < 1 sec. Good leadership does exist and gives me at least a small sliver of hope. It's too bad he seems to be in the vast minority.
  3. I'm not very familiar with auto leases, but can't you just terminate the lease and hand the car back? Maybe there's a penalty for early lease termination, but that would look better than just defaulting on the lease and getting the car repo'd. I don't know if a default/repo would be a no-go for a clearance, but it certainly will be a negative factor. Can you afford to at least make the min payment on the credit card(s) each month? If one card is close to being paid off over another, than focus your weight of effort on that one and close the account ASAP. Give some serious thought to things you really don't need. DirecTV, that new unlimited data plan that costs an extra $30/month, a $25K car that you could sell and replace with a $5K car, etc? There may truly be less things "out of your hands" than it might seem on the surface. Bottom line, defaulting on leases/loans, being consistently late on payments, etc. are red flags for a clearance. Avoid those things and you'll probably be fine.
  4. Heard about that one from a bro. Seriously, WTF is wrong with some people. Glad I never found myself in his chain of command.
  5. I remember when that guy flew in the red air block the entire DCA vul (on purpose, thinking it was the blue block), and when he figured it out in debrief, he grounded 2-4 (2 and 4 were not far out of MQT and 3 was a newer flight lead) for a week, but did not ground himself or even once utter anything resembling an "I fucked up," "I need to do X next time," etc. You could feel the collective "what the fuck!?" in the room. Dbag is an understatement.
  6. Out of curiosity: is IJet equivalent to USAF Phase 3 flying in a T-38 (i.e. how to fly formation/a jet in the NAS)? Is strike/CQ learning basic fighter fundamentals like BFM, SAT, etc. (i.e. beyond just flying a jet in the NAS) in a T-45?
  7. That's who popped into my mind as well. I think "suck a coark soaker" translates to "such a cock sucker." I speak Whiskey, or I'm way off, one of the two.
  8. Shack. We have a family friend who came here on a damn raft when he was 9...needless to say poor and "disadvantaged" is an understatement. He worked his way through school and paid for 100% of college on his own (no "African American" scholarship, etc). He had zero help making it to graduation day other than his own perseverance and work ethic. He is now the CEO of his own company executing multimillion dollar contracts. If that guy can make it, anybody can (save severe mental/physical handicap). Anyone who says otherwise is just making excuses.
  9. Fuck no. The stories I hear on here and from friends on the AMC side make me want to kick a puppy. Seriously, WTF is wrong with stan/eval types in AMC? I've seen one Q3 in the last 4 years and it was a fully "legit," Class A level fuck up. Not some bullshit about IPAD charge or rings. Does AMC raise their stan/eval types to have zero SA on the big picture/mission accomplishment and instead focus on whatever nit picky bullshit they can find to Q3 someone? It seems like it's a competition to see how many Q3's a dude can hand out. Big 2 on that one.
  10. This is the best part: the bullshit tagline at the end along the lines of, "I'm cool dude, I just don't want person X to see you." If you're going to say something, at least stop being such a faggot (shit, sorry for offending 6-9 of you reading this) and own it. Why is manning up impossible for so many of these retards? My most recent experience was some fat nav chick chased me and couple dudes down because we didn't have hats on. When I explained we had diverted and don't have hats, she just reiterated we should have hats, quickly following up with "because I don't want the wg/cc to see you and get mad." I'm pretty sure she about had a hernia right there when I half laughed/half threw a "noted" her way. Funny that a Lt Col who saw me an hour earlier and asked the question completely understood the situation and we went our separate ways. I just don't get it, where do people like this come up with this crap?
  11. Missile turned space guy...though I realize "space" encompasses quite a broad spectrum. Didn't intend to paint the entire space spectrum as the 9-3 crowd. Whatever this guy's job was (even he couldn't really explain it) happened to be one of those 9-3 with an hour lunch break type of jobs (he did say that). Are you sure that's even possible! Damn...
  12. I seriously think about 2.5 weeks of what I consider "real" days would accomplish the entire syllabus. We were told a couple times, "sorry guys, tomorrow's going to be a long day" - it was go to class at 830, 1.5 hr lunch, then done about 1600, including countless 15 min breaks. I actually laughed when some space guy complained about how long the day was (then I realized he was serious).
  13. Smokin' the reefer...yeah, who knows, you could be completely right. Either way, train left the tracks a long time ago.
  14. I'm sure it is, but yes, it did happen. And clearly not for a lack of deployments, as well as I assume awards/strats/etc. were good (he did get into WIC). The latter is an assumption, but I've never heard of/seen a total "slug" go to WIC, have you? Either way, the point is shit is out of control when it comes to using good judgement/metrics to promote the right people. The AF values bullshit and scoffs actual indicators of good officership and future job/leadership potential.
  15. Even better, patches being passed over for Maj because they lack a master degree. Nobody is safe from getting run over by the full retard train these days.
  16. What a retarded answer. First, there is zero point, but if you're going to go, you should not go to get DG, go to have an 8 week vacation and work less than you did at Restaurant X in high school. That whole program is such a colossal waste of taxpayer money and your time; but hell, I'll admit it was kind of nice to work the least I ever have in my life and have tons of free time to do a multitude of things. People who got wrapped up in DG were compete douches and had lost touch with reality as much as the leadership above them who tell them they should go to get DG.
  17. You're right, 2% is a low number, but like you said, the majority get it. There's no misunderstanding here, I totally agree the 1CO, intel troop, etc. shouldn't have to listen to it. I'm also saying at least for the most part that I've seen, they don't. We're actually pretty good at keeping stuff "down" around said individuals. My comments towards 69 just being a number, etc. is geared towards the fact that I think focusing on shit like that is exact proof leadership is looking the wrong direction. Focus on the shit that can actually make the AF a better place, not on a small group of officers who actually do just fine (save the occasional asshole) policing ourselves and maintaining a quality work environment for all.
  18. Wrong. I and 98% of the other fighter pilots I know/have met execute colossally high SA by removing "69," "6-9," "sts," etc. from our lexicon when outside the FS, at meetings with non-ops, etc. It's like Toro said, you sound like an idiot when you talk like that around others who aren't in the community. The 2% who don't do this are the new Lt's who haven't learned quite yet (reference Raptor wingmen story above). Did you read what I said? We DO NOT act like sexist assholes, there you go again branding an entire community because you met a couple asshole fighter pilots over your career. I'm not defending those idiots, I'm pissed that my senior leadership is focusing on not having "verson 1.69" on a lineup card instead of putting that weight of effort into smashing the balls of those who actually harass/assault people. See my response to Danny. Ironically one of our 1COs has said multiple times the AFSOC squadron she PCS'd from was FAR worse than our squadron in every way of sexual harassment. She said she was shocked at how professional and nice a FS was after "everything she had heard." So here's a data point: one AFSOC squadron is FAR worse than one FS. The point is this stuff can be everywhere, yet the AF is myopically focused on FS because it's the easy, visible target post-TSgt Whatever at Shaw. Shack. I hear more offensive shit on AFN than I do in an entire day at work. They play songs about doing drugs, banging chicks, killing people...that's OK dudes, but anything other than a pleasant "hello" in a FS is deemed sexual harrassment. What gives Liquid? I do appreciate you coming on here and giving the senior leader perspective, but at least to us line O-2 to O-5 guys, the tone is very "we are the senior leaders and you will put this dick in your mouth or get out of the AF, end of story!" Senior leadership says it wants to hear from the trenches, find answers as to why so many dudes hate this corporation and can't wait to get out, etc. But it clearly falls on deaf ears the majority of the time. I'm completely with you that TRUE sexual assault and harassment is completely wrong and I'll be the first guy in line to kick offending assholes in the balls. What I want to see my senior leadership do is put their money where there mouth is put their entire weight of effort against the real problems, not bullshit like v.169 on a lineup card.
  19. Great, we DO NOT do that. You say don't "give me that in front of bros shit," but actually it's true. Sure things have slipped out (sts) at an ops desk or two, but you and others on this bullshit bandwagon have this grandiose horrible viewpoint of our culture when in fact your view is ludicrously far from reality. We're very respectful to the 1COs, AFE troops, etc. Stop acting like at every step brief we throw down with our favorite S&M Man verse, right after telling the 1CO she should wear less clothes. This shit does not happen. You want the playboy pinups taken out of the bathroom, out from behind some guy's desk, fine I get it. But to be quite frank, that's about the only thing I've seen that can in any logical way be considered harassment to others. The number 69 is just a number, so to speak is a common phrase, etc. What we sing in our bar with the door closed (no shit) is none of your business and I fully mean this when I say, you are NOT allowed to be offended of something you've neither seen nor heard or will ever be "forced" to hear, but only have an inflated and incorrect opinion of based off of bullshit premises. Now, before you blow your lid, I think a dude should get crushed for REAL harassment at work. If some guy's making passes at the A1C in life support, telling her "nice tits, you should take your shirt off," then fuck yeah, that guys an asshole and should get what's coming to him. As you're well aware, there are shitbags in EVERY AFSC, base, etc. I don't think it's much to ask to leave the 99% of us alone that do not do this shit and actually put effort towards doing something about the 1% who actually "do the things" the anti-fighter pilot community erroneously thinks runs rampant in our community. Going after 69, songs and callsigns is the weak dick response of spineless leadership who are too afraid/unable to tackle the real problem, so instead they go after what's easy and visible.
  20. The lobotomy happened. I met the man once as a Lt...he actually seemed pretty down to earth and was downing Jack right alongside the rest of us. Actually made me feel optimistic about some good dudes "making it." Some leadership seems to be able to stiff arm the lobotomy for different amounts of time, but eventually it either catches up with them or they retire. Unfortunately for Baba, it seems to have caught up. Damn shame.
  21. I'm offended by your use of skulling. I give it < 2 months from his CoC before all of AETC sees this.
  22. My favorite part is he "outlawed" 68+1 as a replacement for 69. OGV, you need to ban Page 69 from every AFI and T.O. maintained in the XX FW. And since you can't just cross it out and and replace with 68+1, you need to renumber it to 70 and hence renumber every page thereafter. Don't forget the list of effective pages! Oh, and callsigns are approved by the fucking squadron at large, not one man. What a dickless "leader."
  23. Left to the RTO!
  24. A Lt DS...WTF.
  25. True statement...barring HAF approval (which won't happen). HAF won't even go for that. Simply because it involves a "display" in front of a crowd; never mind that you can do a completely normal training mission that just so happens to take you by a crowd, log a RAP square, etc. Full retard, it's what we do.
