Sounds good Joy, please take a trip to Gaza and let us know how it turns out!

@Smokin I’ve had good experience with several bullets and manufacturers (reloading and factory ammo), but I’m very interested in these all copper bullets now! When I get some time I’ll start with .308 and 30-06 loads and see how those do…coyotes will be a good test asset. Also, you can’t have too many hobbies.

Shack. I watched a guy watch a muley run away after shooting it with a 300 win mag…then my son completely disintegrated both lungs and dropped another muley where it stood with a 6.5CR (the guy eventually found his muley 400 yds away). 243s have taken many elk and my sons new-to-him 30-30 has a few elk and bear to its name. Hell, the 220 swift has killed tons of AK game in its history. It’s mostly about taking accurate, high pK shots with quality ammo, but the industry has convinced many hunters that’s not the case.
-
Haven’t shot those. Are you reloading with them or buying the factory ammo?

You’re doing it wrong! (Pro tip: keep the appearance of a budget up with the wife)

I’m not worried about legal in my state - the Sheriff will congratulate me on winning via a phone call since his deputies still won’t have arrived at my house. But I understand that’s not everyone’s state. That said, I don’t think it’s a good idea to let lawyer BS drive your “tactics.” And we’re all not obtuse to the point we don’t know there’s a right and wrong way to conduct yourself (including words) if you do interact with LE, lawyers, etc. Know the law, but no rational law is going to dictate injuring vs killing, using birdshot vs. slugs, etc. Batshit crazy states like CA or NY may, but that’s one’s own problem for living in those states to begin with. Birdshot - eh, go for it, I’m not saying it will do nothing, but I also don’t know a single pro I’ve interacted with who would ever suggest that as your first choice. 15 yr old punk coming through your window for a smash and grab, probably stops the threat. A couple strong 25 yr old men hopped up on meth (or if applicable in one’s area, a gang mis-IDing their house for a rival target), good luck with that one. Overall though, as a generic statement, practice with what you’ll use and you’ll be prepared. Think you’re going to unlock that safe in the middle of the night under stress to grab the 45 handgun you haven’t shot in 8 months - you’re fucked.

For a “thug of opportunity” who is actually a total pussy when confronted, sure. For someone on drugs/hardened, you are living way in “soft deterrent” land. Its far less effective than you think vs. those “real” threats. Watch someone take multiple 9mm or 556 and not even skip a beat as they keep coming at you - that will change your perspective. My BO kicks as much as a 22…there’s damn near no recoil. A 12ga is magnitudes more recoil - it’s emotional, no 12 ga recoils less than an AR in BO or 556 (assuming you’re using rounds that actually will kill a threat) Dangerous mindset in my opinion. In a defense situation, neutralize = dead, not injured. If you’re going to point a gun at someone/something and press the trigger, you should only do so with 100% commitment to killing. If you’re not trying to kill, don’t even point the gun. SOCOM uses 300BO/7.62 heavily in SBRs for tight spaces (e.g. HD scenario)…soooo, yeah I wouldn’t be so concerned about it (with the right ammo). I’ve killed several animals with it, zero expansion problems (foot stomp, right ammo). You can find YouTube videos across the entire spectrum that will support or “debunk” any cartridge…I don’t put much stock in any of those backyard experts. What do the pros say, what does professional data support?
-
I have some, just haven’t had time to work up a load. That said, they won’t be subs, and I also will never use reloads for defense.
-
@Smokin Cartridge matters as you pointed out - I personally run Hornady TAP 190gr subs, specifically addresses expansion at subsonic velocities. A suppressor is also very helpful in a HD situation (or really any situation).
-
@arg That’s not comforting. I hope she is directly asked about red flag laws and the age restriction thing - if her answer is anything other than, “I was wrong and those should not exist,” time to can her ass and make the 3rd pick.
-
@Lord Ratner Depends on the bullet used, but overall 300BO is a great compromise between over penetration and effectiveness. Birdshot is completely ineffective (I don’t recommend the shoot at a threat to scare them gameplan, shoot to kill is the best game plan) and buckshot will penetrate way more than 300BO. Regardless of weapon, absolutely important to think through where the high risk penetration shot directions are (e.g. shooting toward your kids bedroom), where the likely points of entry for a threat are, and how you can maneuver to minimize risk of lining those two things up. Bad guy gets a vote, but still something to think through before it happens. Shootability is based a lot on familiarity, but an AR is more “shootable” than a shotgun or large handgun for most people in terms of recoil, getting back on target after a shot, more capacity = less/no reloads, etc. Practice can majorly reduce that “shootability” difference for someone, but overall many women are going to be better off with an AR platform vs. the others. Their only hang up is emotional, which will go away if they learn how to use it.

My PCCs are fun to bang steel with, but not my go-to for killing (though obviously they can). Similar 300BO setup to Nunya’s is my primary weapon in/around the house…unless time demands I grab something different that’s closer at hand in the moment.

The other day was talking to a young 20s guy about downloading music and explained how we used to use Napster (he never heard of it obviously) and his eyes about popped out of his cranium when I said sometimes it would take over a day to download one song, only to find out it was a bullshit radio edit!

The good old days…”come on come on, fucking load! Mom will be home in 5 min!”

In addition to Smokin’s comment, it has objectively worsened education year over year. Student performance has steadily declined since its inception. While doing the opposite of what any logical person would expect of such an organization, it has been at the forefront of political/social manipulation of generations of children, demonstrating it is not about academic success, but rather social engineering. That last part has increasingly become worse this century, but it started a long time ago.
-
Dept of Ed should be the very first entity completely shuttered. Send education to the states, zero fed involvement in education at any level (exception is mil academies). A lot of people on X are saying IRS is #1, but I think they’re missing the forest through the trees (not that I don’t think the IRS and our tax code doesn’t need a massive overhaul/gutting).

I’m between Tac and Surely. We are spending an egregious amount on UKR, with a major reason being war is profitable for the elite class. But Surely is completely accurate on Europe’s inability to perform without US help. The answer to this shitshow is probably somewhere in the diplomatic/economic realm. We can’t let RUS run amok in Europe, but we have to immediately stop completely fucking over our own people, which is exactly what we’re doing with our current UKR actions. Trump may be the guy who can tell Putin and Zelensky to knock the shit off, borders are now where the current lines are, and UKR can fuck off on joining NATO. Sucks for you UKR, but your loss is not our problem at this point, be thankful we enabled you to not lose half your country, Kiev, etc. RUS will be in a massive deficit for generations to come, we don’t need to do/enable anymore on that front.

For anyone adding to the list of events that made voters rebuke the Dems, we now have a woman imprisoned for 9 years because she argued 2020 voting machines were compromised*, but we have several Dems in Pennsylvania outwardly admitting to violating voting law because they want to count invalid votes. Literally breaking the law trying to sway an election in their favor and not one mention of bringing charges. The gross imbalance of legal action depending on party affiliation is sickening and a major reason voters have walked away from the Dems. I will happily eat crow in the future if every one of them ends up in prison for years. *For those interested in what actually brought a 9 year sentence: “Peters was convicted of three counts of attempting to influence a public servant, one count of conspiracy to commit criminal impersonation, first-degree official misconduct, violation of duty and failing to comply with the secretary of state.” Of note she didn’t actually manipulate any vote counts, unlike the Pennsylvania people mentioned above. So I guess they need over 9 years of incarceration…

Seems very optimistic, but certainly possible.

After about 6 months of Biden and the Dem machine, I knew we were headed for a hard right pendulum swing. That is the consequence of going extremely left. Based on the general Dem responses so far, I think we may be looking at more than 4 years of GOP control, which I am all for while we wait for the Dems to come around to honestly debriefing their epic failure and redirecting the party in a way that brings us back to a centrist, “shared” control gov. But until they do that, it’s likely a GOP controlled gov. The question is how long does it take them to do this - 2 years, 4 years, 12 years?
-
I can easily vote illegally in two states based on first hand experience - so I’m sure sorting through that shitshow takes egregious amount of time. If we had solid voting ID requirements and continuous, stringent voter roll QC in place in 50 states, this delayed timeline wouldn’t be a thing.
-
50 gauge full auto, hmmm. @M2, where were you on Mon night, between the hours of 2000-2200?
-
Well obviously…except unfortunately CA ANG is exempt. California + Eagle dudes = auto SECAF waiver approval.

But but but, I was told America is largely misogynist and won’t elect female leaders!
