Come on day man, you know it's against Navy regs to fly anything more precise than a TACAN when not on the bo-at!
-
Cost saving? WTF...we don't get new flightsuits anyways, so the AF doesn't lose any money by me wearing flightsuits every day at work. Not to mention the fact most dudes in the squadron are flying/in the sim near every day, or at the minimum could easily be thrown into either with short notice...which actually happens pretty regularly. I hope this absolutely stupid idea does not permeate amongst AF management.

Supposedly there's zero available this VML as well according to the porch. They just noticed the two trains going opposite direction and realize they can't stop the crash, but can put the brakes on and slow the impact a bit. AFPC, always looking ahead.

Apparently having "good hands" no longer matters....
brabus replied to Cornholio5's topic in General Discussion
It always sucks to watch the Navy bros miss out (and us miss out on their contribution) because they're the only ones who can't fly because the WX is below TACAN mins. Lame...I still can't believe this goes unfunded every year. How expensive could it possibly be to just put in a basic civilian ILS capability. Then again, the government probably found a way for it to cost $6.9 million/jet. -
You can actually pinpoint the exact moment their brain explodes: when the mic keys, you hear only molar cooling, followed by the watch sup screaming in Japanese in the background, and then the TX stops...silence on the radio for X sec-min. Sequencing ourselves/doing ATC's job is still common place over here.
-
Except the Class A wouldn't be on our side, it'd be "loss of life" on the JASDF side with at least 2-3 brain aneurisms resulting in death. Causal factor: "MP requested direct inside downwind."

Sounds like bombers/heavies are a completely different story from fighters. At least in the Viper world, you are well behind your peers and have a lot of catching up to do. In general, the only real "leg up" you're given is job wise...i.e. shop chief much sooner (right out of, or close to, completion of MQT). Maybe FLUG comes slightly early, but certainly not IPUG. Both are merit-based upgrades and FAIPs are looked at pretty much the same as their flying peers (not year group peers). As the boss said the other day, he owes everyone one upgrade (MQT) and everything after is earned...he doesn't give a shit if you're a FAIP or right out of the pipeline. That's the predominant take I've seen on this situation. Some FAIPs realize this, accept it, and then kick ass and go on to blow past these hurdles/do very well. Others come to the CAF with an attitude that their FAIP time entitles them to something extra...it doesn't. Of course throw in a little luck/timing with leadership, VMLs, etc. and there you have it. That's how it is, without sugarcoating.

The doc says she'll be walking again in 5-7 days and the ability to eat solid foods should be a few days after that. All in all, not the worst she's experienced.
-
If you talked to a dude 3 times 7 years ago and had nothing related since, then I'm not sure why you're even asking this question or even considering putting this on paper. If you have to track down a doc from 7 years ago for something extremely minor (copy, 17 year old kid wasn't happy with how things were going), then you're doing this wrong. Or you could roll the dice and tell them how you sprained your wrist bad this one time, MAYBE they'll be cool and give you a waiver. Your life and your dream, do what you want.

Just when I thought it couldn't get worse...they take the booze away. Dear God.

Deaddebate - Are you saying the AF will no longer send you to an off base chiro and instead force you to see a PT? At least for the ol' 9G neck break, you don't need PT sessions, you just need your damn vertebrae put back the correct way. My experience is dated with this, but I ask since a younger dude in the squadron just F'd his neck enough to say something and I told him check out the chiro. Does the AF have a new gameplan in store for him, and if so, is he about to travel down "bullshit DNIF" lane?
-
I know 3 dudes who have had full up back surgery and were only DNIF'd for the surgery/recovery time...i.e. not "kicked out of" ____ jet. I used to be scared shitless of losing out on flying because of stuff like this, went to a civ chiropractor on my own dime, etc. It's really not as bad as you think it would be...do what RTB said. But at the same time, I wouldn't go to the doc for just a simple "crick" that will go away in a day. If you have to turn your entire upper body to look at someone who's talking to you, that's the time to go see the flight doc.

I'm glad there's at least some leaders like Gen Franklin still out there. Roscoe got fucked plain and simple and surprisingly there was a leader who actually had balls to call bullshit. Good on the General for not only doing so, but sticking by his decision despite all the recent uproar.

Here here to another bro who paid the price. Prayers for his family.

You heard wrong...at least for some dudes in our small corner of the AF.

If your PhD is in science/math/engineering, then I'm sure it will be helpful if you ever decided to go to TPS, but outside of specialty programs like that, it does not matter. Guard would give you the best opportunity to fly AND directly use your PhD (i.e. at your civilian job) in the short term, but things like TPS mentioned above will give you that opportunity on AD, albeit slightly later in your career. Just depends on what lifestyle/job you want.

No shit, trying to write those w/ nothing but a couple training reports and a handful of months in ops is ridiculous. Just when you think things can't get any more asinine...
-
It's starting to get a bit disturbing how many new guys showing up to the squadron I have to tell KIO on the masters...there is a correct time to do that, and right now is not it. Get into the books that will enable you to kill bad guys and not get you or your bros killed in the process. I don't even blame them, I blame the AF and the assholes who perpetuate this bullshit to impressionable LTs during UPT, etc.

Pretty sure sarcasm detector is code 3.

"Hello, I'm the new group first shirt and blah blah"....copy, you just got added to my auto-delete rule. Why is it this group is always the biggest email abuser?
-
Agreed, always in my standard rotation...speaking of which, I need to go the store immediately.

Buy shaving kits at Walmart, online, etc. and then take them to a patchy shop and have them embroidered with squadron name, patch, kit #, etc. You can run the gambit from cheap to nice leather bags. Depends on how much money your squadron has to spend.

We're going on month 15 with breitling...management must have changed over the last decade. Europeans don't do anything in a timely manner so it seems.
-
When you go R&R from the AOR do you use Leaveweb? If so, you can travel with just your ID and leave approval (Part 2) printout...no need for a passport. If you won't have a Part 2, then disregard.
-
Doesn't matter which they use because everybody you're competing with on this board is affected the same way. They won't (or at least shouldn't) use PCSM 1 for some and PCSM 2 for others. If a 94 is a "damn near guaranteed" for ENJJPT, then 62 probably is as well on the new scale.
