Another consideration in the CIVCAS discussion is all these numbers thrown out there are many times sourced from NGOs and actors like Hamas (or ISIS, AQ, etc.) who massively inflate/lie about it. I’ve seen multiple times the UN and Red Cross blatantly lie about CIVCAS. It of course happens, but it is generally substantially less than reported (or at least the numbers at the hands of western nations). Arguments using western-caused CIVCAS as a cornerstone are built on extremely weak foundations.

I don’t think price control is the right answer, but I do think erasing the PBA position and reining in big pharma playing games with pricing (which seem illegal to me, but nobody challenges it, I don’t get it). DUI/DWI penalties, especially for repeat offenders and first time offenders resulting in severe bodily harm/death, need to be multiple orders of magnitude worse.
