General info on UPT (Undergraduate Pilot Training)
brabus replied to a topic in Pilot Selection Process
Top 50% is the WOM I've always heard/read, but sorry, don't have anything in writing to back that up. Just work your ass off and don't suck. Worrying about some number, class standing, etc. is not what you need to be doing, just put the effort in and you'll probably be fine. -
Damn you Rainman, damn you to hell. Fricken AF always ruining my hunting plans!

Sure you were...dumbass. Oh really, you know what a war zone is like? Tell us about it...bitch. God I hate jackasses like this.
-
TUI is 2 papers every 2 weeks...one is 2-3 pgs and the other is around 5. There is no thesis or tests. I can't imagine there's a degree out there with less resistance. Oh, and the AF will pay for 100% of the costs.

Did something similar to our flt/cc in UPT. We made up a fake RIP for UAVs (he was an Eagle dude) and got the sq/cc in on it. He was on the phone with his functional at AFPC when I walked into his office obviously trying to hold back laughter. I think he said "never mind" to his functional, hung up the phone and said, "fuck you guys!!!!!" He then turned it on another Eagle guy in the squadron who also completely bought it. It definitely made for a hilarious afternoon.

Please tell me they painted Cocks Rule! on their roof...I would expect nothing less from our Eagles bros!

Valid, but if enough hours are missing, it's at least possible it could delay something...i.e. an assignment requiring X IP hours or something like that. But yes, that's probably a far-fetched possibility. As far as I know they do and have heard they do the fighter time factor thing. I still have a copy of my flight records, so no worries there. This is where my opinion differs. I've done a handful of records reviews so far and to be honest, I will have no idea if my records are missing some flights here and there, mis-transcribed type of flight time off my 781, etc. It's humanly impossible for you to go, "hey wait a minute, 169 days ago on Feb 3rd I flew a 1.2 and logged .8 NVG...please fix this" as you're flipping through multiple pages of flight time. With a logbook, I can quickly just look at the totals and if something doesn't match up, now I can run through dates and see where a flight's missing. I have already caught a couple mistakes and pointed them out to the SARMs. Maybe it's amazingly different here, but they trust my word as an officer. What a concept. I would hope nobody would make shit up to pad a logbook...complete BS and I would not expect someone to do that. Bottom line, now that I backlogged all my flight time, it literally takes me 15 sec to fill it out after a flight. So, I spend approx 2.5 min per month writing in my logbook. Just my opinion, but I'm not worried about "wasting" 2.5 min out of my month. That's like the dudes arguing in favor of green boots because they don't have to shine them. Copy, I'll "waste" 2 min to shine my black boots once every 6 months...again, not worried about it. If someone else is, then don't do it.

You log all engine running time as dual received. Look at the HOBBS meter (like a car's odometer, but hours instead) before you start the engine and after you shut down. The time difference is what you log. Your CFI will endorse the logbook to make it legit.

Nah, you just have to circle some numbers on an ORM worksheet. It makes ORM a non-player.

I get the whole "innocent until proven guilty." I'm not arguing these guys are guilty, I'm arguing there is obviously something going on here that deserves more than what happened (at least on the surface). It's far enough past simple coincidence that a lot more should have happened. Not saying they're guilty, but they damn sure shouldn't have just been given a free pass and a "sorry for wasting 20 min of your day."
-
. I didn't say they were auto guilty, I just thought it was ridiculous the whole thing was dismissed immediately as no big deal and just a coincidence (at least on the surface...there very well could be far more going on here, but I won't speculate on that). Good one dumbass. I already stated I could give two shits what their skin color is or their religion. Could have been two white guys from Oklahoma and I would have said the same thing. Quit trying to lean on retarded statements with zero merit to support your argument.

Nice try. I don't give a shit if they were white. Dude, taping a cellphone to a pepto bismol bottle. Really? I guarantee most of the people on this site can make a bomb out of that. It's called explosive material in the bottle and a call to the cell phone provides the trigger. Throw in the MULTITUDE of other suspicious items and the questionable situation and it's just way too much to be a simple coincidence. Sure the "experts" let them go, but I will not be shocked one bit if we see something like this happen again, except with something actually happening. I sure hope it doesn't, but I don't have much faith when there is zero common sense applied in situations like this.
-
Right, because the FBI is awesome at everything they do and never fuck things up. There are WAY too many things interconnected in this story to make it just a simple coincidence. You can stick your nugget in the sand all you want, I'm not going to.

Two Men Arrested on Terror Suspicion on Flight From Chicago to Amsterdam "Law enforcement officials also found several non-functioning cell phones taped together, a phone taped to a Pepto Bismol bottle and a knife and box cutter in checked luggage connected with the men." YGBFSM!!!! Why are they even asking if this is just "a coincidence" or not. Lets see, is it normal to tape cell phones together, tape a cell phone to a pepto bismol bottle as well as have a knife, box cutter and over $7G in cash in your luggage? You think just maybe they're seeing if they can put a bomb in checked luggage? Seriously WTF, how have we as a nation become this incredibly fucking retarded. This kind of stupidity just pisses me off, especially since I know it could very likely get hundreds, if not thousands, of Americans killed. Unbelievable.

15K was a nominal number...please tell me you don't think an F-16 is incapable of flying a wheel at 5K? Even from 10-15K, there is merit having a dude there to look out side for a true "big to small" approach to find a target. And no, I won't argue about Viper CAS vs Hog CAS or disagree with you on that one...that's a losing battle.

2. How does anyone think it will be better in a non-pilot on the ground controls weapons off an aircraft? And I'm sure they're proposing that it won't be any big deal for the dude on the ground to find shit in the soda straw of the pod. You can't replace the dude at 15K looking outside.

What has worked for me: the answer is NEVER 1 or 5. Also, trying to "relax" your eyes and look in between the circles instead of directly staring at a specific one. Do this along with a very slow scan (without stopping to intently stare at one circle). Seems like your peripheral vision helps the circles stand out. Also realize the latter lines will be much harder (sts) than the first group. Take your time and don't feel rushed.

Same here, except 5.5 months after the fact, $2500 worth of un-reimbursed expense and still "working" the problem. Agreed. However, I took that road about 2 months ago and am now past the OIC at this point...that's how fucked up their process and "ability" is. Unbelievable.

It's been done before. But, depends on the leadership and what they want to do. Godspeed to the crew...I really hope it's not as bad as it sounds/looks.

Assuming Nav is the same as pilot (which why wouldn't it be, they're both rated positions), you incur your ADSC when you get your wings. So rank doesn't really matter, whenever you graduate UNT/UPT is when the 6 yr/10 yr clock starts ticking.

They actually pull people from real jobs to set up their shit? Wow, the gayness just increased that much more.
-
Not technically a demotivational poster, but too damn funny to pass up.

That makes sense. I guess I was only thinking about flying in the local area like we do most of the time, but obviously other airframes out there fly a lot further than 100 mi from base on a regular basis. Alright alright, I was simply speaking from a scheduling perspective (that only applies at Base X). I am wrong and turns out we are the only ones who do that...bad assumption on my part. Back to my corner. Magnet - Now that shit's funny! Contrail - EAD

That's why you use that extra brain cell and don't schedule flights with the same name and/or number. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that one out. Now maybe that's a different ballgame in the heavy world, but it's a simple game in the fighter world.
