Trident university TUI increasing tuition rates
brabus replied to ucf_motorcycle's topic in Squadron Bar
There's always the possibility for all three...seems more and more people these days turn this possibility into reality. -
Textbook example of when to utilize the TONE button. What an idiot.

Trident university TUI increasing tuition rates
brabus replied to ucf_motorcycle's topic in Squadron Bar
I seriously doubt that, assuming your school is what you made it out to be. TUI is the least amount of work ever required of me for a program. 6-9 essays sounds bad, but when they're all 2-5 pages and high-school level writing gets you an A....yeah, not really the same as a "legit school." Anyone who seriously compares the workload to a "legit school" is either lazy, stupid or just likes to complain. -
Serious...I take it you haven't yet waited on the dumbass who decided to do 10 min of pattern work after a vul, then had to talk to MX for 69 min about his Code 3 and then subsequently was not even within 5 min of being ready for the pre-mass while everyone else was? While that is on the "worst case" side of the scale, the point remains there's always something tactical you could be doing instead of logging an extra .1 or .2 in the pattern. Every sortie should minimize admin and maximize tactical learning...beating up the pattern is detracting from the latter to a varying extent, depending on the mission.

The viper syllabus is just fam to flying a fighter so studs don't plant a Craptor in the ocean on TR-1 or BFM-1...its about 1.5-2 months as I recall. Hardly something you can call a b-course. Because you'd be wasting time doing patterns when you could be getting into the vault sooner to get shots and start debriefing. Not to mention MX has to replace a shit ton of tires, and they'd be replacing a metric shit ton if everyone did touch and goes...if anything, doing low approaches helps them out and the "training" from 20 ft to 0 ft is extremely minimal at best.

It won't be a problem, Rainman and Songtan Sally go WAY back. Expect pictures within the week.
-
Just go back to Korea and you'll fit right in. I recommend adding Songtan Sally into the mix in some way. Don't forget to take pictures and email them to Masshole.
-
If that doesn't deserve a bronze star, then I don't know what does.

Correction, 9 months. Not like there was anything else going on...right. Not the bros' fault...sucks to be in their position.

WTF...maybe the numbers in AP1/B are going to Base Ops? Whichever base is the scheduling agency for the route, find a number to wing scheduling at the OSS and call them. They will know what you're talking about. Wing scheduling should also have SA, or at least be able to point you to the right person, regarding range availability in their area.
-
Uhh, you're VFR...unless it's in Class B or something just tell them to fuck off (in better terms of course). Unless of course you've accepted TRSA, but then that's your own damn fault. Swanee - If you're going to fly a MTR, especially one that's highly used, I would schedule it to avoid potentially dangerous situations. Or if you don't have it scheduled, then have SA on when it is scheduled (you can even potentially get that info via radio from an aprch control, range control, etc.) or otherwise do some LATN work that avoids the confines of the MTR.

You can bring it over, but like others said, it's going to rust like hell out this way. At first I was pissed I had to store my classic back in the states, but now I'm very glad I did. In addition to the rust (car storage issues, salt on roads, right on the ocean, etc.), the driving in Japan also sucks ass: few "real" highways, i.e. 98% of the driving is no shit on 2 lane roads with speed limits varying from 25-50 kph and the japanese love driving slower than the speed limit..so yeah, driving my BB vette is not exactly enjoyable at varying rates of 15-30 mph with limited to no availability to pass. I've only been to Kadena once, but I only saw the one tollway from Naha Airport to Kadena...maybe you can get a bit faster on that, but still nothing good. Just not worth it at all, unfortunately.
-
Perfect reason for LATN. VFR+1200+avoid some specific airspace...don't let the man hold you down! Thank God for none of this bullshit in Asia...I hate the FAA.

There are several flavors of OBOGS out there and just because they share the same name does not make them plug-and-play with all platforms, or any other platform for that matter. I've also heard the contamination thing, but that was just WOM. Either way, the problem is certainly far deeper than just simply throwing a new OBOGS in the jet (if that was even possible).

Nope, the Chinese parts in the system hadn't failed yet.

I bet someone on here can make that flowchart into a pretty awesome powerpoint presentation for the Generals.

Really? Don't be an idiot.

Seriously, been a rough few years for the beagle bros. Glad the dudes made it out!
-
And this simple rule should also be applied to TDYs...yet, some people still don't get it. Even in this day and age of facebook, email, digital cameras with wifi, etc. some dudes still don't get the concept of don't take pictures of shit you wouldn't want everyone on the internet to see. Some people were just born stupid.

Electronic flight bags could boost operational safety, effectiveness
brabus replied to ClearedHot's topic in Squadron Bar
According to an NGA rep last week, AMC DODAACs will completely stop receiving paper products Dec of this year. They will 100% be using DVDs / the internets to update FLIP. Who knows when this will happen for the other commands, but suspect it'll be a while for the non-heavy communities. And personally I hope to God they come up with another solution besides the ipad for fighters. -
Shack. Not the way I understand it. The instrument square can pretty much be checked with any flight, but you only get one per month. With only 8 sorties per month for Exp, it makes sense only 1 is a non-tactical counter (in theory). That leaves 7 of some tactical flavor to log. NE-MX, force support, etc. are all options. In fact the new RTM specifically prohibits logging RAP on AOS movements (despite the argument of logging TI by shooting the tanker 69 million times). True, and I'm sure Jaded's DO is clearly getting leaned on by those above, so it's not entirely his fault. However, even in the shitty position my wing's in, neither DO or CC from either squadron has ever tried to force guys to log RAP through no-fly threats, etc. I don't know what Jaded's leadership situation is, but it sounds like there's some issues if the DO is forced to resort to that option.
-
Is it more on a case-by-case basis with "those guys," i.e. log red air if they're scheduled to fly red, regardless of the fact they still got a couple BFM sets in (i.e. log BFM) or is it sq-wide and the "gear in the well = RAP" mentality no matter what? If it's the latter, then that's a shitty situation and bad on the DO.
-
Good question. It's become even worse in the recent past with how low our sortie rate is. The "get airborne = log RAP" idea is getting stronger as people reach more and more to make squares green on some powerpoint slide. The irony is this idea is even worse now that dudes aren't even flying at a BMC rate, yet some want them to log RAP on a flight that goes out to the airspace and turns right around for wx with no tactical training accomplished (and yes, they've already logged their one instrument RAP counter for the month). All that is accomplishing is making already NCMR pilots even more NCMR, if there is such a thing...I'm sure you get my point. Dudes need to call a spade a spade, not log bullshit RAP, and not be afraid to let big AF know how 90% of the wing is NCMR for X,Y, Z reasons. Pencil whipping the shit out of RAP only makes us worse and less lethal.
-
Copy, my bad. Anyways, my comment was more a generic RAP comment and not really directed at you. I've just been in the XC situation before and told I needed to log RAP...yeah right. Valid. In fact just the other day we ended up pre-vul tanking, fought ONE vul, then went home and training/scheduling said, "yeah but you tanked...so that's two RAP sorties." No it's not, now kill yourself. I even had one guy try to argue that the point of RAP was to just start the jet and take off, therefore every time you get airborne you should log RAP...he told me this after I just had a takeoff EP and landed. According to him I should log RAP for that "sortie"...retard.
