  1. My understanding is once someone starts UPT, that slot is used, regardless of SIE, washout, etc. Basically, it's a wasted slot...hence why it annoys the hell out of people when someone starts UPT, then quits...because somewhere there was someone else who truly wanted it and didn't get the chance. Maybe they try to add a slot later in the FY, but I don't know.
  2. I was in a similar boat as your friend. I went TDY direct from college to ASBC enroute to Vance. I couldn't do anything with TMO prior to it b/c my Det didn't do shit once we commissioned as well. They said, "don't worry, that'll all get handled at Maxwell." Yeah bullshit. I did a partial DITY...or at least planned that. The TMO at Maxwell fucked up the paperwork and when I get to Vance they refused to pay me. They said since I didn't file the paperwork prior to actually moving I wouldn't get paid a cent for the DITY portion. After arguing with the fat, unhelpful bitch for 30 min I finally left and called the TMO nearest my HOR. The lady on the phone was very nice and told me what paperwork to fill out, then I had to fax it back to that TMO. Once she was done on her end, she faxed me back whatever I needed and I took that paper into the Vance TMO. The same lady was working and was just so pissed that I actually got it taken care of to get paid...almost like she took personal satisfaction in trying to fuck me over and now that I had beat her she was livid. Well, I got paid and it was all thanks to the good TMO chick at the HOR base. Lesson learned: Your friend will not get screwed out of what she deserves, however I would be prepared for some TMO clown to tell her the same bullshit I was told. Between Maxwell, Minot and the nearest base TMO to her HOR, she should hopefully find one person who's helpful and know wtf is up.
  3. And it seems like even worse is said Capt stands a decent chance of getting reamed (sts) by a higher officer if he chooses to put a disrespecting E in their place. Maybe that applies more so to higher enlisted ranks, but geez, it's almost like there's no line between officer and enlisted. Might as well make everyone the same rank the way some people act.

FYI, the 2 or 3 dudes from here are out there this week (and maybe next??) for whatever the interview/fly-off thing is. Don't know if that helps you or not.
  5. Wow. So when we update our pubs here in a bit, I can just sell the old pubs on ebay. Interesting!
  6. They're no different than the average college dorm room except you have your own kitchenette and bathroom. You can fit a bed, desk, dresser and a small couch...that's it.
  7. Shack. SHACK!!!! Dude, either quit being a complete dumbass and continue down the UPT road or completely ruin your dreams for some fucking broad that I can almost guarantee you will not stay with past 3 yrs (and I think that's being optimistic). If she doesn't accept your dreams and at least willing to work something out, then fuck her and the horse she road in on. There's other much better women out there.
  8. Caption Contest...I'll start: "Sir, watch how much I can open my mouth to suck O-6 cock." Too forward?
  9. Just pure conjecture, but I would think there's still at least a few more C models to be dropped in the future. Definitely very limited, but I wouldn't think we've seen the no shit last one.
  10. My personal take on the Viper (and applicable to the Mudhen too...though I can't speak to what extent)...multi role is awesome. I have a shit ton of fun flying BFM, ACM, ACT. I also have a shit ton of fun dropping bombs and strafing. I honestly can't imagine not being able to do both. Like said before, you're going to have a ton of fun in a fighter, regardless of which one, but me personally, I'm glad I'm not limited to solely A/A or A/G.
  11. Lots of booze and prizes...guaranteed to be a good time (or at least as good a time as an "optional" squadron function can be).
  12. They're all probably about the same, they're all fun to fly, your chances are probably about the same on average, avoid the Eagle unless you like dudes a WHOLE LOT. Then secondly, pray you actually get a fighter. Seriously, if you end up in a fighter, feel extremely lucky and I guarantee you'll love flying whatever you get. I'm very glad I got the Viper, but I'd be lying if I said I honestly thought flying any of the other fighters would suck.
  13. There's a gun club in Enid that had a nice range North of town. They shut it down (lost the lease), but as far as I know they re-opened with a range down south. I think the membership skyrocketed to $100/yr, so depends on how much you shoot. There's also a trap/skeet range north of town, but it has weird seasonal hours and I think open shooting for non-members is only on Wed nights, so not conducive to UPT, but maybe if you're casual there. And the one Kayla is talking about, don't bother...if you do go, you'll realize you're an idiot for not listening to me.
  14. Haha, well done.
  15. Or you just forget about all this nonsense and put 169% effort into every damn thing you do. Whether that be a stan test, academic test, daily ride, sim, checkride, etc. Who cares what the event is or how the percentages work, just work your ass off and it'll pay off. Now, it is smart to prioritize, such as having a checkride the next day is more important than the test you have in the morning. If chairflying more for your checkride and only get a 96% on your Instrument test vs. studying more for your test and getting a 100%, but now you get 10 downgrades on your checkride...well the choice is obvious. Outside of these unique situations, I think you guys are better served by not worrying about the point breakdown and just put max effort into everything.
  16. Just a reminder, if you don't want one for each wrist and a taller pin for more receipts, you're either a chick or a homo. Choose wisely.
  17. Bastard!
  18. The best part about Bergman's..."Pussies." Hahaha.
  19. I remember sitting at the kitchen table just eating a bowl of cereal when my Dad comes out of the bedroom and turns on the TV about 10 min after the first plane hit. I think his exact words were, "some fucking terrorists hit the WTC with a jet!" I remember saying, no way, it had to be an accident of some sort. I ate my words a little while later when the 2nd plane hit...it was obvious at that point. I was a senior in HS at the time and still went to school all day, but most of the classes were spent watching the news...minus a couple teachers who could give a shit about what happened and were going to have a normal day no matter what. 8 yrs later on that day I dropped live bombs for the first time. For me, there's been nothing better than flying with live weapons on 11 Sep, pickling on the target and watching those things explode (sts). It doesn't change anything or bring people back, but it made me feel good that I was working towards doing my part to bring pain on some piece of shit people like those who commited those crimes on 11 Sep. Prayers for all the families and friends of those lost
  20. Not only is Kanye a complete dumbass, but honestly so is everyone who wastes a single cent on that guy's shit. How in the hell does our society allow asshats like this guy to be where he is...he should be working at McDonalds at BEST CASE. For the most part, talent and music stopped going together in the early 90s. I'm with Spoo, I hate people.
  21. I never had to deal with this guy in any way and have only heard stories, but seriously, WTFO on that shitty video!
  22. First of all, careless driving is a worse offense than tailgating, so either your not remembering correctly or he definitely didn't "hook you up" b/c you were being cooperative. Secondly, if the DA got completely rid of the careless thing, isn't that like it never existed? I would say just stick w/ the speeding ticket and move along.
  23. Flare don't be mad, it's not your fault your mom is a size 20, but tries to wear size 6 shorts. Isn't that standard in OK anyways?
  24. I noticed several are from Oklahoma...no surprise there.
  25. Mardon sucks...use prog specialties. I've had two separate patches made by them back in UPT and both were very good quality/well done on the artwork, well priced and they were much faster than Mardon. Mardon is slow as hell, has shitty customer service and their quality isn't bad, but it's not anything to get excited about. I wish people would stop using them so they'd just go out of business...why do squadrons continue to put up with their crap? On your question though, if you get a letter/email from the company whose logo you're trying to use saying it's OK, then Mardon will do it. Case in point, our Friday patch in UPT had Bob's Big Boy on it and originally I was going with Mardon. I got the same thing you did, so I emailed Bob's Big Boy "contact us" form on their website and just explained who I was and what I was trying to do (I think most companies would be glad to let the military use their logo on a patch). They sent me an email from some corporate dude and Mardon OK'd it. However, after waiting for a month (I finally got through on the phone and they said it'd be another 2 months), I said screw it and called Prog Spec. I had the patches within 3 weeks and they far exceeded my expectations. The detail is stunning (for you Mitch Fatel fans out there).
