  1. Either way, the facts still stand.
  2. Well played Fury. Wildbill, of course fat kids are forced to practice BFM/ACM. It's like the fatty at school who's forced to play football in gym class and gets annihilated.
  3. Don't forget the WSO holding the helmet bag for them when they take a dump. You guys can have your CRM!
  4. A HATR doesn't necessarily denote anything illegal took place. It's a hazardous air traffic report...this was a hazardous situation. I'm not real clear on what happens because of it...I think the FAA can use it against the "offending pilot" if they choose to, but it's still not a clear "you broke a rule" thing. I also think it helps keep track of potential repeat problem areas, etc. Can anyone else clarify exactly what it does/accomplishes? I'm curious myself.
  5. Hoss, are you willing to tell the whole story on here? I'm wondering what lead to you being where you were and your wingmen being where he is while pulling the trigger. My scariest: near midair with another 2 ship during an LFE. Blocks just may or may not have been severely emphasized in the debrief.
  6. Are you planning on not eating and sitting in your room for the entirety of your time there? Making money off TDY is cool and all, but I don't understand why people try to do it at the expense of food and having a good time. No you don't have to blow a ton of money at clubs, bars, etc, but even having no life you're only making $1215 on top of your paycheck for the whole trip, and that's with not spending a single cent. So in reality, even severe "penny pinching" is only going to make you around $800. My experience on multiple occasions has been if you don't have the AF immunizations record form, you're getting the shot. They don't give a shit how many times you say you've had it or your school gave you ____ . Just show up, get the 4-6 shots and don't lose the record they give you (like I did) or else you'll be getting the same ones a year later at your next base.
  7. All the services are this way...according to friends I know in each of the other ones. I sometimes think the Navy has got to be better, until I talk with my bros who fly helos and fighters in the Navy. They have the exact same bullshit, different name. I have a good friend who's an Army Ranger and for every retarded story I have, he has one too. The grass is always greener on the other side. Don't let all the bitching here get you down (sts). Yeah, there's a lot of gay shit in the military, but the pros far outweigh the cons when it comes to being a pilot. And you know what, if the BS becomes too much to be worth flying military aircraft, well you're probably at or near the point you can choose to get out anyways. Stick with your dream and fly for the AF. You won't regret it, but you will regret not trying.
  8. WTF are you talking about?

M2, I think we all owe you an apology...I didn't know you were actually not that old, and Australian!
  10. Shack. You can find things that suck or something to bitch about in every airframe. OR you can find the good things and have fun in any airframe. Some people's personalities/characteristics may mesh better in some communities over others. Overall, have goals and ideas of what you want to fly, but always keep your mind open because you don't want to be the guy who shows up to your FTU with a bad attitude because the airframe you got at assignment night wasn't what you were hoping for. I'll admit that's easy for me to say seeing I got what I wanted, but the truest statement in life (even outside the AF or what you fly) is "attitude is everything." A good one will get you far, a bad one will just make life suck.
  11. You know what I meant, smartass!
  12. Yeah I hear you...not the first time I've heard that. The way I look at it, especially nowadays, I'm very lucky to be flying a Viper. I could find ways to be down on things (sts), but there's no sense in wasting my energy doing that. I'm going to do my best not to let my tune change too much, but you're right, there's zero way I can tell you what my opinion of things will be in 2-3 yrs. I hope it doesn't change, but I can't guarantee anything. One day we got canceled on the taxi out for the 2nd attempt at a ride in the latter part of B Course. One LTC who was going through the TX said on the bus going back, "dude, anytime you even get to start up a Viper, it beats the shit out of sitting behind a computer writing OPRs for the 14th hour." It's all perspective...and I'm going to try to hold onto his, because he's completely right. The shittiest day in a Viper is better than the best day being an MPF officer.
  13. Why - It's simple, I'm getting paid to do something I truly love to do. Shit, I would pay to do what I get to do. There's a lot of people out there working a job that maybe even pays decently, but they hate it. They're doing it for the paycheck. Fuck that...that's not how I want to live my life. So, I'm very lucky to be doing something I have a passion for vs. doing something just to pay the bills. Yep, I'm happy as hell with my airframe and wouldn't change a thing. My bet is most guys will say this.
  14. I do to. Too bad it probably won't happen because it would be "demeaning" and "unethical." Don't worry, the obvious solution of stop being fat or don't fly will be overlooked. The ACLU will triumph again.
  15. This has even surpassed reflective belts. This is now the absolute gayest thing anyone in the AF has done. I hate shoes so very, very much.

Ok, fair enough; I see your point. Thanks for the input...seriously. Take my AETC opinion out of the equation (I get it), but you'll still see similar sentiments shared by those who have certainly been through those things. Maybe I don't have a leg to stand on, but they sure as hell do. That's simply just an honest observation.

Much to your apparent dismay, I'm actually done. Please tell me how my post was irrelevant since it refers to time spent at Luke? I'd honestly like to hear it.

I'll say at least my post applies to more than just the "big night." I'd say every Friday, minus a holiday weekend, there is at least 3-4 dudes hanging out, drinking at the bar and talking about whatever we can talk about without being in the vault...and sometimes it does migrate back to the vault. Many times the night evolves into a "big night" after we've decided to call it on the tactics/weapons/etc talk. I've learned a lot from just "BSing" in the bar and I definitely hope it continues at my next squadron.
  19. Right now in Afghanistan the strikes carry one more bomb than the viper. Yes it's one more bomb, but it's not "lots more iron." Then again, once we (USAF in general) start readily carrying SDBs, the strikes are going to rain a shitload of pain.
  20. The iphone can receive it instantly, just depends on how you have the settings.
  21. Nice. + This is the kind of thing I'm talking about. I'm not sure how much is releasable, so I didn't say it. But the above is a perfect example of completely different "facts." I've seen/heard the later from a reliable source, so that's why I don't get why someone like Evil (obviously with access to the "good info") would post info 180 out. Evil's probably right, it's what koolaid you drink, but at the same time I wouldn't really consider some of these sources to really be koolaid.
  22. Just finished Sierra Hotel. Definitely a good book and a fast read.

Haha, that is quite possible the best thing I've ever read on this site. I'm puting that in my sig, I hope you don't mind...and if you do, fuck you I'm doing it anyways (sts)! Contrail, how many "fuck"s do I have left in the bar? Is there some sort of tally sheet or is it purely just a time issue and I have to wait 6-9 min between each "fuck"? Just wondering.
  24. I think this may be your best yet. Well done old crow!
