These guys weren't on the list...Thomas Tags. We ordered our normal 38 nametags from Mardon and originally ordered our friday tags from them, but after 6 weeks of waiting and still hadn't gotten them we told them to shove it and ended up going w/ these guys. I had them all in hand w/in 1 wk of ordering. And their quality is easily equal to Mardon. I highly recommend them for their quality and speed.

First off, I don't think Vance is going anywhere anytime soon. Secondly, housing is going to be a huge problem in Enid in the near future. Vance is taking down all the old housing (where most of the O's live) and building new housing, but of course this will probably take the next 3 yrs or so to do. In the mean time Advanced Foods (big company on the outskirts of town) is expanding and adding 800 jobs, thus tons of people moving to Enid for those jobs. Apparently Advanced has already "reserved" all the new apartment complexes that have yet to be built. The city managers are realizing they have a big problem on their hands due to this large influx of people coming to Enid for work and all the new military coming to Vance. So, my thought is this will drive up the average home cost (much more demand than Enid can handle) and hopefully if you guys buy a house before all this happens, then when you turn to sell the market should hopefully still be riding this "high demand" wave. Just a thought.

That's true, didn't think about the parent thing. And yeah, in CO you don't have to do a background check for a private sale. Don't know why I forgot about those two things.
-
That's a money XC...that's what we wanted to do in T-6s, but wx screwed us. The O&B's I listed are good besides Lubbock (I forgot it was b/c of birds).
-
O&B: Amarillo...Big Texan is the shit. And even the restaurant on the field isn't too bad. Lincoln...Chipotle is about a 10 min drive from the airport. Alliance...Pretty good BBQ place about 2 min down the road. Ft Smith...You can get a sandwich/chips/cookies/drink deal for $1, and they'll deliver right to the FBO, so you can just eat their. Fayetteville (AR)...Good BBQ. Lubbock...they don't let us go there anymore, but maybe T-6's can still. I've been twice and both times the controllers were douche bags, so I'd recommend this as a last choice. Though there is Freebirds and many other restaurants downtown. Oh yeah, and they also all have good approach practice and are pretty good to the military (minus Lubbock for their d bag controllers and ground crew). XC: T-6 XC we ended up in Dallas on the first night and Lubbock on the 2nd night...due to wx. It wasn't bad...the clubs/bars in Lubbock were actually a pretty good time (I was kind of apprehensive of Lubbock being a fun time at first). Dallas bars were a decent time too. Centennial in CO is a sweet place...16th st in Denver is only a 15 min drive and you can stay downtown, definitely a good time. 38 XC we went to Tallahassee and had a damn good time. Went to a couple places and both had some of the best drink specials/prices I've ever seen.

Some guy really did that? Man, seems like an easy way to bring the pain to yourself.
-
I realize this, hence why I said don't make it obvious. There's no other way for him to get a handgun w/o someone 21+ buying it for him. It's really not a big deal as long as he doesn't go rob the Kwikie Mart w/ it...then yeah, the purchaser would be hosed as well.

How does the flightsuit work out for dudes who go w/ a bunch of snow? I just know that thing's about as water proof as a ziploc bag w/ 69 holes in it. I just prefer not to be soaking wet the entire time...or at least I want to minimize it. Seems the flightsuit would be no problem in the summer, but I'm not so sure about right now.

I think he's looking for just paper punching. Plus, then when he can actually carry, that's just a good excuse to get another gun!
-
Check out a gun show if you can. You can find great deals on both new and used. Of course you will need someone who is 21 to buy the handgun, so don't make it blatantly obvious that they're buying it for you. It's also a good idea to take someone who knows at least something about guns...b/c you can get screwed if you don't know what to look for on a used gun/what it actually is worth. Any product from the bigger names like S&W, Taurus, Glock, etc. will be a good way to start out...you can't really go wrong. 9mm is a great choice for a first handgun and for range shooting...much cheaper than .40, .45, etc.
-
"Surplus" used to be synonymous with cheap, but apparently corrosive ammo from the 1950s is worth 40 ct/rd...what a load of crap.
-
Wow...I want that, NOW. Ammo prices have gone way up over the past few years, so I'd say really your best bet is a decent sized gun show. The best I can find anywhere online is $4.95 for 15 rds. I bought 900 rds of the Yugo surplus 8mm about 4 yrs ago for like $60...now it costs a bit over $300 for the same, unbelievable.
-
Tech...yeah I shouldn't have said "all"...but it's obvious based on some comments made both by Clovis residents and by AF who have/do live there that some of the populace has issues. Regardless, it still sounds and looks like a shitty place to live.
-
I should really stop thinking Enid is so bad. I think the most important thing I've learned from that video is what I'll be doing with my shotgun if I ever get PCS'd there...fuck that shithole. And look at that PaulHunton douche bag's comments, what an idiot. Not only does the town itself suck major ass, but so do all the people who live in it. Why doesn't the AF just leave.
-
If I'm reading this correctly, you're gambling w/ your pilot qual ability over acne? Dude, I realize acne sucks, but taking some drug that can pose at the very least a serious pain in the ass w/ the AF just doesn't seem smart. I mean, blurred vision and joint pain...WTFO? Maybe I'm not understanding something here, but it sure sounds like you need to get off this crap.

Absolutely. UPT is not a program designed to make people fail, it's designed to take practically anyone and teach them how to fly, provided that person has the drive to do something like that. You mostly won't gain any edge b/c you honestly will not get a level of understanding of the subjects prior to UPT. You may think you're smart, have good insight on aviation, etc...but trust me, you'll understand the material 69 times better after being taught it at UPT, then studying. All of the studying/learning time is built into UPT, it's not like they give you no time...you'll spend countless hours in academics/CAIs. I will personally pay you 1 million bucks if you read the 217 and -1 through prior to UPT and then honestly tell me at the end that you had an edge and did much better as a result of such. And if you did end up being an idiot and telling me that, I'd just have to kick you in the nuts for lying. Seriously, go have fun, relax and drink beer...the studying and learning will come soon enough.

I remember that...I was the only one who apparently thought it was normal for LTs not to salute other LTs. The rest of the group just had a shit fit. You're right, it really was comical.
-
You'll do 1 PFT a year (1.5 mi) and then maybe some "warrior" run once a year (3 mi usually). At least from a UPT standpoint, any exercise you do is on your own besides the aforementioned. I really wouldn't worry about it too much.

M44s, Mausers, etc. are fun guns to shoot at the range. $100 is a good price as long as it's not a POS and about to fall apart. Check the action, crown, barrel, etc. for obvious damage/excessive wear and then buy it! Especially combo'd with surplus ammo as Sim said, you can't lose.
-
What kind of dude was taking "advantage" of that "knee time?" She's a prime example of someone who should haven't made it past Capt, but apparently some guys higher up liked having a dude...er, I mean chick...do some "special" assignments. Really unbelievable someone like this could make it so far.
-
2. What a bunch of spoiled little kids. In the words of one of the LSI guys here, "fuck those little kids!"...they can sack up and eat lunches like the rest of us ate back in the day...Comte cheese souffle my ass.
-
It's easy, but it definitely will make you more tired than you think you'll be. Stretching is a good idea and definitely do some lifting beforehand. You're going to be incredibly sore/tired if you haven't lifted weights in 6-9 months prior to the test.
-
I thought I've seen some unimpressive bios in my short time, but that one definitely wins for most worthless career ever.
-
They seriously expect some guy who is 3 yrs through college to just change to AFA and do 4 yrs? They must be looking for complete idiots to fill their ranks.
-
No kidding. I lived in C Springs for 10 yrs before college, and then still came home once in a while at that point. Every city has issues, but C Springs is a very safe/good city compared to the shit you could get into in a larger city like NY, Chi, LA, etc. I've been in the "shitty" part of town a few times back in the day, and while I wouldn't want to be walking the street alone at night, it's still nothing compared to a couple times in LA and NY I made "not the smartest" decision. This overkill on safety is just retarded.
