@wikz What I meant is do the easiest degree (for you personally) to get the highest GPA. That usually means having some interest in the topic, so I suppose that could be psych in your case. But definitely do not make it harder by doing BS over BA. If you think you’ll do better at business for example, then do that. Airlines are hiring without degrees now. That could change by the time you get to that hypothetical point, so having the box checked isn’t a bad thing.

Go with the easiest degree for highest GPA. Nobody in the guard will give a fuck about BA vs. BS…they’ll glance at your GPA and that’s about it. As far as backup civ life, ref boomer’s comment above. Doesn’t make sense to do psych if you have no desire to do psych in the civ world. Also, if you do change your mind and go that way, be prepared to need a masters, and then be in massive debt with decades ahead of you to break even. College is a losing proposition these days for many people, so go to check the box so you can commission, but that’s about the only reason to go (if your main goal is mil officer/pilot).

I know lots of people who sell airplanes to their LLCs. Also know people who purchase planes with one LLC and lease them to their other LLC. Sorry I don’t have personal, direct knowledge to share, but it’s obviously doable and legal based on the amount of people I see do it with no problems (and I’ve asked about tax implications).

I mean, enlisted 10/10 tits are still 10/10 tits. -

The recovering alcoholic is one thing, but this is literally frat (oh excuse me, they never fraternized, they just instantly were married one morning so it wasn’t an issue after that). -
Own your words. I don’t feel sorry for these dipshits at all.

To continue Pawnman’s example… ”OK, but have you ever been depressed” ”I’ve had down days with disappointments like everyone else.” ”Yes I understand, but yes or no, have you been depressed?” ”No, I have not” The medical world defines it as a mood disorder, so if you say you’ve had it, you’re saying you’ve had a disorder. Do you think you’ve ever had a disorder, or just a few bad days/weeks? Normal people know there’s a difference, docs don’t for the most part. You have to understand your definition of “depression” is not the same as the psych’s definition of “depression.” You think “depression” innocuously means, “yeah I was down about a break up for a few weeks and moved on.” The psych sees it as, “I almost ended my life and was mentally unstable for a period of time.” This sounds like a ton of bullshit. Sorry you’re dealing with it. Get ready for them to ask about what kind of childhood you had, how do you feel about animals, etc.

How do you assess mental health to prevent cases like this? Seems nearly impossible when you throw out the “obvious” nut cases.

Guard Pilot and Family
brabus replied to Ad_Astra's topic in Air National Guard / Air Force Reserves
Yes, I was talking more about the first 2.5-3 years of training. Once MQT complete, things will settle a bit into more “routine.” TR life balance is still something you have to work at, because you now have two employers to please, plus your family. -

Manage expectations - family will not always be #1 (exceptions like emergencies/tragedies obviously). Don’t get so wrapped up in work you forget you have a family, meaning make time for them as best you can around work requirements. This means doing things she wants to do/is cool with on Sat during UPT. Take 30 min when you get home and sit down for dinner/hang out with your wife. It’s probably all you can give most of the time during the week, but you both need that 30 mins, for multiple reasons. -
To be fair, the EU guy in the above meme also represents an alarming amount of America.

Is suing her in civil court an option? Seems like it should be…and he should take her for all she’s worth. False accusations should come with a minimum 10 yr sentence. They’d stop real quick if a few women went to prison for it. -

Every community has their off ramp options for low performers, and the GO “community” is no exception. -

Sure, that’s great. They should do their best, but given the existential threat to their survival, and the fact they were attacked horribly in their own beds, it’s not prudent to just play whack-a-mole. They need to eradicate Hamas AND their sympathizers to have any real chance at a more stable and secure future. Handing a little slice of ass and then walking away isn’t going to cut it. History has repeatedly demonstrated that. Hezbollah, Iran, etc. are all watching - the message they receive is also very important for Israel’s future.
-
You’re right there are some “innocents” there who will die, and that does suck. But the only long game move for Israel, for literal survival of their country, is to go scorched earth. A place like Gaza is not comprised of very many “innocent” people, children included (it’s not their fault they were raised to be evil POS humans, but they are still in fact, evil POS humans).
-
Honestly I’m glad so much of this barbaric shit is now readily available on Twitter, etc. Nothing that has happened in Israel is new to the world, it’s just the average 1st world civilian actually has seen it/heard it described in detail for the first time. Maybe this will actually wake up all the latte-sipping meat bags that evil is in fact real, it’s everywhere, and we should actually do something about it. Kill everyone in Gaza, destroy all infrastructure. If the civilians haven’t left after the more than ample warning, fuck ‘em. Zero sympathy.

Not remotely what I am referring to. But cool dude, you seem to be really interested in a dick measuring contest. Have fun with that. I’m only here to say America is capable of doing what needs to be done, the only question is what does our current crop of leadership decide to do. I do not concur with implications that we’re not capable, that’s all I’m saying.

Poor comparison - we haven’t fought a mostly conventional war vs. a mostly uniformed, state-sponsored military in the 21st century. But still, seen plenty of comparative violence levied on our enemies. I get the frustration guys, but maybe throttle back on the emotion and apply more logic founded on knowledge of capabilities and the warfighters who employ them. I have plenty of real world experience to support the fact we absolutely do “push people’s shit in” when desired. Should we do that more often, yes, but to say we don’t ever do it or lack the capacity to do it now is false. And if you’ve never been a part of it, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen.
-
Several times. I’m not saying we go to Russian levels of Geneva convention violations or sub-human evilness of ISIS. In my opinion, neither of those are required to be considered “all in” for winning war. I’ve also seen plenty of terrain denial and other stupid shit, so I get the frustration.
-
Meh, seen many raids where we “knocked with a Gustav.” You’re not wrong that we’ve been generally CDE/ROE driven to retarded lengths, but we absolutely are willing to do things that throw all that out the window. When it’s important enough to us, or shit hits the fan bad enough, we will do whatever it takes to win (while maintaining our humanity).

I don’t know that specific answer, but I will tell you be prepared for orders to get cut a day or two before leaving for OTS. Be prepared for orders being delayed to the 11th hour your entire career, regardless of gov shutdowns.

@Chida How does NVG play into the FAA world? I had no idea that was even a thing outside of mil/LEO.
