I can’t imagine that many people are truly anti-Tesla, or even EV in general. I bet the vast majority of the anti-“E” attitudes are simply pushback against progressive bullshit ideas like banning gas car sales by 2030, banning gas ovens, telling people they MUST go all electric or else, etc. I think EVs, solar, etc. are great ventures and I’m excited to see the tech progress. I also think they are not the panacea many leftist think they are and there is a LONG way to go before they are reasonable for many people in this country. Bottom line - progress the tech and people will naturally come to them as it makes sense for their life situations/desires (and to the leftist: WGAF if someone doesn’t share your EV love), or try to shove it down their throats and human nature says they’ll respond with a big “fuck you!”

There are totally valid reasons to have an EV, but being environmentally friendly isn’t one of them.

It used to be easier, but now even an ATCAA (way less environmental impact vs. a MOA, temp or perm) will take 2-5 years to create under the new, draconian process. MOAs are advertised as a 10 year process (with a massive asterisk that says “never going to happen”). It’s a very anti-mil process and the FAA loves every bit of it.

Unless there’s a large enough existing MOA with capacity, it’s a non-starter. The FAA is horrendous to work with - it’s their kingdom and they don’t give a fuck about training, readiness, national defense, etc. To top it off the AF majorly bent the knee to them a few years ago and slammed some huge nails into its own coffin on the airspace front. Edit: I love the hypothetical idea, just am too jaded by the reality of bureaucracy that would immediately crush a good solution to a problem. Now if Elon gets involved, maybe we’re on to something!

Are you getting it because you’re getting a new car anyways or is it because you want a more efficient commuter car while you use the “gas guzzler” when required? If it’s the latter, you should acknowledge the break even ROI is a LONG ways into the future and likely the whole idea makes zero logical sense if based on that line of thinking. Also, they are shit in cold weather…unless you’re doing short in town trips where you’re not leaving it parked for 1+ days. Not a factor if you live somewhere temperate.

@Smokin I’ve had good experience with several bullets and manufacturers (reloading and factory ammo), but I’m very interested in these all copper bullets now! When I get some time I’ll start with .308 and 30-06 loads and see how those do…coyotes will be a good test asset. Also, you can’t have too many hobbies.

I watched a guy watch a muley run away after shooting it with a 300 win mag…then my son completely disintegrated both lungs and dropped another muley where it stood with a 6.5CR (the guy eventually found his muley 400 yds away). 243s have taken many elk and my sons new-to-him 30-30 has a few elk and bear to its name. Hell, the 220 swift has killed tons of AK game in its history. It’s mostly about taking accurate, high pK shots with quality ammo, but the industry has convinced many hunters that’s not the case.

Haven’t shot those. Are you reloading with them or buying the factory ammo?

I’m not worried about legal in my state - the Sheriff will congratulate me on winning via a phone call since his deputies still won’t have arrived at my house. But I understand that’s not everyone’s state. A 12ga is magnitudes more recoil - it’s emotional, no 12 ga recoils less than an AR in BO or 556 (assuming you’re using rounds that actually will kill a threat) Dangerous mindset in my opinion. In a defense situation, neutralize = dead, not injured. If you’re going to point a gun at someone/something and press the trigger, you should only do so with 100% commitment to killing. If you’re not trying to kill, don’t even point the gun. SOCOM uses 300BO/7.62 heavily in SBRs for tight spaces (e.g. HD scenario)…soooo, yeah I wouldn’t be so concerned about it (with the right ammo). I’ve killed several animals with it, zero expansion problems (foot stomp, right ammo). You can find YouTube videos across the entire spectrum that will support or “debunk” any cartridge…I don’t put much stock in any of those backyard experts. What do the pros say, what does professional data support?

I have some, just haven’t had time to work up a load. That said, they won’t be subs, and I also will never use reloads for defense.

@Smokin Cartridge matters as you pointed out - I personally run Hornady TAP 190gr subs, specifically addresses expansion at subsonic velocities. A suppressor is also very helpful in a HD situation (or really any situation).
