First I-check post FTU, I shit you not for the “formation” requirement the FE put me in close and did 90* wing work, unbriefed and not executed in several years. It was fine, but how retarded. On a healthcare note, took Tricare a month to approve me to see a PT…after going to the ER and being unable to do much physical activity (including flying) this whole time. Govt healthcare is so great, why doesn’t everyone want it?! Also, SS is theft…there needs to be a completely new “social safety net” developed.

See something go down in a conservative state, help out, because they’ll applaud you instead of charging you. The last shithole Dem state I lived in, a local guy was being charged with murder for killing the aggressor in a home invasion who attacked his wife. The DA said it was murder because the attacker didn’t have a weapon and the homeowner did. So lesson learned at the time was if you had a home invasion, kill the fucker, but then drop one of your firearms by him and get his prints on it…say he found the gun in a kitchen drawer. How fucked is it that thought process even had to exist for a violent event in your own fucking home.

Irrelevant, red herring argument. If we want to go somewhere and needed everybody, we’d do it, period. Exhibit B: entire navy ship goes NMC for a week because their 100% vaxxed crew all got COVID…but they all were green on a slide, how could this happen! Making an argument based on green slides and appeasing country X is nonsensical.

Even that was completely wrong for me when I was in UPT. They were still saying, “fighters fly around the flag pole, you’ll be home a lot.” Yeah that turned out to be 100% wrong. There’s no predicting deployments/TDY rates even in a couple years, let alone generally over a career. Mission, that’s the only thing people should pick an airframe based on.

If you’re worried about important family events, etc. you’d miss, the guard is generally much better about taking care of people than AD. But, you are full time, so I wouldn’t expect to skate out on a bunch of trips. And as a new guy, going on trips is great for many reasons, so I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

Even the time we stayed on base was still an epic TDY. All the other times in Tumon we were at the Hilton and the Westin. New guys - make sure you go steer the ship.

@M2 How bright is the illumination? Been thinking about picking up a PA variant, but the one negative I read is even max illum is not “daylight bright,” however everything else is quite positive, and for $300 seems like a great deal. But for $55 more, I could be swayed to the vortex.

You can call the ATF with your application number and they can give you a general update on where it’s at. I bet you’re pretty close.

@Boomer6 I’m laughing with you, not at you! Glad to see nothing has changed in the last 10 years. But, on the other hand PACAF TDYs are generally pretty epic…most of my best stories came from those 5 years.
