  1. Thanks for the assist Huggy/Guardian. Big pic, please PM me if you fly GA in the Florida panhandle, trying to help a buddy out in Niceville.
  2. Thanks Huggy. I searched every variation I could think of and couldn’t find it…fail on my part. Mods - feel free to delete this one.
  3. Am I taking crazy pills thinking there was a dedicated GA flying thread? I swear there was one and it appears to be gone (or I’m wrong and it never existed). Either way, 1) it needs to exist, 2) Can anyone who flies GA in the Florida panhandle shoot me a PM. Trying to help out a buddy in Niceville with some airplane ownership stuff, but need some up-to-date local knowledge if you’re willing to share. Obligatory picture…
  4. It’s amazing how these shoe clerks act like you’re trying to withdraw money from their personal checking account, but then they have no problem buying another $50k round of TVs for the wing to replace all the perfectly functional TVs bought 2 years ago…because EOY funds (but not to be spent on shit you actually want/need).
  5. Yep, and if a vendor complains about not wanting to play with another IRT to mission systems functioning together, then get fucked, next! OA and modularity can make this a reality. The gov must remain the prime or else it will fail.
  6. Stealing partially from the century series method is an idea out there, and probably not a bad one. We paralyze ourselves by seeking the 100% gold plated solution (with constant moving goalposts). Make a 69% solution A-model and buy 30, make the 80% solution B-model and by 50, etc. Expect models to be valid on the peer level for a few years, then you need the next one (and old ones are now night 8 instead of 1, adapted into wingman UAVs, etc).
  7. Korea and lower Bama - yep that all makes sense now.
  8. All doable, depends on needs of the unit you want to go to. Hopefully your current CC is supportive and will go to bat for you with the other CC. A dude from another jet is coming to us, decision made about 3-4 months out from TX date. It will be a tough battle to go from heavy to fighter, but it’s not impossible. Can’t comment personally on the difficulty of the other direction, but I do know two guys who left fighters and didn’t have problems getting hired.

Have a Magpul Zhukov-S stock mated to an adapter from HB Industries. I haven’t connected yet (need to file the Form 1), but both parts seem really well made and I think it’s going to work great. You have to get an adapter since this stock will not work with the factory connection, and while the one I got is $95, it’s metal and tolerances are tight - you get what you pay for, totally worth it.

One year later - I finally got my suppressor. The ATF sucks, but the suppressor is awesome! Word on the street is with the new e-filing for Form 4s, wait time is now 90 day or less. So far have only shot my 300 BLK; could shoot all day without ear pro…the difference is pretty amazing. Also plan on using it on the 9mm PCC, .223, and 9mm pistol. The 300 BLK and PCC will be the best platforms for it, but might as well on the other two, because why not!
  12. I’ve heard good things about AMVETS (father-in-law/Vietnam vet recommended them). I know they’re a VSO, but I’d hope better than what you experienced with DAV.
  13. Yeah I figured...there's more to it than that, and there's very good reasoning for unmanned/manned teaming in certain aspects of future war. Don't think in today's tech, think tomorrow's tech...which clearly is a rhetorical process in this forum.
  14. Which “platforms” are you specifically referring to?
  15. Up front: Not personal experience, but from guys I know who took a similar path and my perceptions. Ski’s comments describe what I see from these guys. They have excelled rapidly in pay and perks (sure I’ll watch a free baseball game from the company’s skybox with unlimited booze!) But they work a shitload, tied to their work phone 24/7, at the boss’s beckon call 24/7, and travel constantly for work. So are those “cons” of the job worth the pros? No right answer, but something worth some serious thought. I personally cannot imagine living their work lives and having a family who’s anything beyond a status symbol/trophy wife. But on the other hand, if you’re a single-for-life kind of a guy who wants to try to emulate wolf of wall street, then have at it!
  16. Repurposing is N/A to the peer fight, so yeah we need to figure out how to build a bunch of new RPAs for MUMT in a timely and cost-effective manner. I hope they succeed.
  17. I wish I had done it earlier, but after now paying 2x VA funding fees and realizing much of this standard stuff won't affect FAA Class I...do it ASAP! I could have had this shit done years ago, and have missed out because of my unfounded fear of it screwing over my flying career. Ideally you have a bro flight doc who will go over your "hypothetical" records and give you advice. Neck, back, joints, fucked up finger from when you took a cue ball to the hand playing crud, tinnitus, liver isn't pulling its weight like when you were 25...all service connected. Anything mental health related (PTSD) and sleep related will cause you some level of asspain with the FAA (but not necessarily show stoppers). This all according to my flight doc who's also an AME.
  18. The concept has legs, but things like the T-7 won't be anywhere near it. RPA wingmen need to keep up with B-21/NGAD/5th Gen. Will be really interesting to see what comes of this in the future.
  19. Is that screenshot from the Onion?
  20. And that boys and girls is a nice example of a false dichotomy.
  21. Not really. Their financial interest is to make as much money as possible, future lawsuit/settlement payouts are just cost of doing business (probably can even deduct it!) They know it, and they don’t give a fuck. People use VAERS when it’s convenient to support their position, while shitting on it when numbers change that don’t support their argument. Also, how many people are like me who had harsh reactions to the vax, but have yet to fill out VAERS (because priorities)…probably a lot.
  22. I don’t believe they’ve connected those dots (or several other dots). It’s all about frothing-at-the-mouth outrage and separating people into worthy and unworthy groups - logic, laws, respect, and history be damned.
  23. https://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/partner_surveys/jan_2022/covid_19_democratic_voters_support_harsh_measures_against_unvaccinated It is unreal how many Americans have lost all concept of the constitution, basic American/human rights, and are hell bent on dehumanizing fellow Americans who don’t have the same viewpoint as them. They make excuses for themselves to justify their abhorrent behavior. How about accept this is a free country and you will disagree with others, but you should be able to do so while treating them as a neighbor and not as a piece of valueless trash. Here are some highlights for those who don’t want to read the whole thing: - Zero fucks given for 1st Amendment: “Nearly half (48%) of Democratic voters think federal and state governments should be able to fine or imprison individuals who publicly question the efficacy of the existing COVID-19 vaccines on social media, television, radio, or in online or digital publications.” - Take freedom from others, but not from me (because I’m…insert excuse to justify horrible actions): “Forty-five percent (45%) of Democrats would favor governments requiring citizens to temporarily live in designated facilities or locations if they refuse to get a COVID-19 vaccine.” - Taking your kids away because I don’t agree with you: “Twenty-nine percent (29%) of Democratic voters would support temporarily removing parents’ custody of their children if parents refuse to take the COVID-19 vaccine.”
  24. I know multiple guys who have gone to indoc/started initial training on leave at the end of various types of orders. No issues amongst the mil or airlines. They will likely want you to submit orders and leave approval to prove the situation is legit, but AA didn’t even do that for a couple guys I know. Now trying to knock out indoc on leave while you still have a year left on the current orders - that’s a different story. EDIT: Probably the “cleanest” COA is what SocialD said - curtail orders and sell the leave. But you will lose money on that deal assuming you are working at the airline during the time period you could have been double dipping. Selling back only nets you base pay after taxes.
  25. I think the point is nobody knows. But we do know the touted numbers aren’t accurate. To what degree of inaccuracy is unknown (at least I haven’t seen anything objective/credible). But with so much fuckery going on, it’s logical to be skeptical. I think a few people have made good “middle ground” points (paraphrasing…) that it’s not accurate to say COVID is simply the “common cold,” but it’s far from what the fear mongers have sold (in a desire to compel compliance, build power, and change society to suit their desires).
