@Pooter What Flea said, plus some multi-year data...what are the effects in 3 years, 5 years, 10 years? Not saying I personally need 10 years of data, but a couple years plus the drug companies being 100% legally liable for negative effects might do it. It’s all about risk calculation; if this virus had a 50% mortality rate, decisions would be very different (e.g. risk of longterm unknowns from the vaccine are overshadowed by the risk of death from the virus). I sincerely hope this specific vaccine, and the tech in general, is wildly successful and proves over time to be a great solution into the future...but I don’t personally feel I, or my family, need to be a part of the experiment to find out. This is pretty simple logic, but not saying there is one right answer/opinion...except that the right one is whatever is right for you and your family. It is not right to force your opinion/personal risk management answer on others (general statement, not directed at you Pooter).

Citing CDC numbers is not a prime anti-vaxxer trait...they claim religious exemptions, vaccines don’t work, vaccines cause things like autism, etc. I made zero claims, just presented a factual number from the “expert source.” You’re attacking the person, not the numbers-driven risk management discussion...ergo, ad hominem. But to your last point, I agree. Que? It’s on page 65, half way down...with ad hominem spelled correctly I might add.
-
Do I really? I mean if the vaccine works, then what are the vaccinated afraid of? I won’t affect them…unless they actually don’t believe the vaccine works. And kids under 12 is a non-starter argument…they’re sitting at a 0.00025% chance of death (if they get it). Those were actual numbers, from the CDC. Swing and a miss on that accusation. But to the rest of your general point, I’m not arguing there is statistically relevant data saying the vaccine is deadly, but rather saying the data completely supports not getting it as a rational decision. Individual risk assessment is certainly subjective, so for some, these numbers don’t trip the decision to skip vaccination, and that’s totally fine. You do you. But also, go fuck yourself if you’re going to try and force your decision onto others. Actually it’s an unemotional point referencing CDC data, made by a guy with a 5 page long vax record. You do you, but you look like a dip shit when you launch ad hominem attacks on someone because they have a perspective differing from yours.

I think you have a decent shot, especially if this is just around the corner. It’ll take the AF another year before they say, “WTF, I thought the airlines were all out of business and we had zero retention problem!”
-
I have a 0.014% chance of death IF I contract Covid...no logical risk management process says, “99.986% of success isn’t good enough, we need to lower the risk more!” When it comes to personal risk assessment, you do you, no judgement here. But it is quite logical to look at the numbers and say, “yeah I’m good with that chance of death and won’t be pumping more synthetic shit into my body.” I don’t have to sacrifice my body for the people who have their own personal health issues...judging those who make such a risk assessment based on the data out there is pretty illogical and misguided. Also definitely go listen to a pod cast or two with Dr. Weinstein as said earlier...holy shit.

CRT is also EVERYWHERE in the public school system, and has been injected for a long time now. It’s a hot topic because parents are finally realizing what bullshit is being taught to their kids and they’re pissed. Go do a little research into your local school district - very good chance CRT exists on a varying scale. This is not a flavor du jour topic, or at least it shouldn’t be.

What was the specific message?

The fact you refer to it by the MSM’s label of “armed insurrection” shows bias. Absolutely there were people present who were out of control and did illegal/stupid shit, and this isn’t an apology for that group. Fuck them. But, have you actually talked to people who were there? It was 99% peaceful, and not remotely the event that has been portrayed. Again, yes some crazy assholes did some dumb shit (e.g. forcing their way in), but the preponderance of the crowd did not. Your mind, and much of America’s, was made up based on the words of journalists sitting 1000s of miles away from the actual event slamming away on a keyboard. Fear and hyperbole sells. However, I do agree with you bias and corruption is rampant across the entire media, from the left to the right. Defending either “side” is disingenuous.

You know what’s going to win the next war? The “correct” patches worn on the “correct” days. The commies will be shitting their pants when they hear of such discipline!
-
But how will he have time to do the rest, he’ll be too busy making sure the pilots are checking ATIS and adjusting the heading bug properly.
-
Haha, I like the joke, and I get it, but this concept can be applied to future SOMs. So, still worth looking into.
-
Yeah it is - do you know how many bombers I want to have available to shoot JASSM vs. how many there are actually available? I don’t see an issue with trying to expand the ability to mass stand off muns. Doesn’t mean it has to be the primary plan, but it’d be nice to have the capability in a scenario where you want as many weapons flying down range as possible. Also, not saying this should be the #1 priority.
-
I’m well aware of how JASSM works and is employed. Are you implying AMC guys can’t hit a release point on time at a specified altitude and heading? I support outside the container thinking - this is worth pursuing.
-
My assumption is they’d have zero play in the planning/weapons loading part, just in the “throw that shit out that back at this point/time” part.

The fine print says you can only snow blade while having to ski in a onesie suit designed by AF PA.

USERRA Protections
brabus replied to mightymighty's topic in Air National Guard / Air Force Reserves
@FDNYOldGuy Common error on orders. Go to MPF with a copy of the USERRA memo and show them the exact verbiage that must be put on your amended orders. I’ve had to do this 2 times in the last 3 years. If they push back, get your SQ/CC involved. -
I’m tracking what Joe’s saying, and he’s right for the most part, our frustration mostly lies with entities well above an ARW level. But, dream’s quote above is still very applicable. I am rightly frustrated with tanker crews when they show negative desire to make the mission happen...not flexible at all, outright don’t want to be “tactically” involved in a mission (because excuses), flip out at the smallest of changes airborne (I guess that’s a double hit on inflexibility), etc. In general, the perception is those crews are checking the box for the airlines/can’t or aren’t willing to do something outside of their super low-risk comfort zone driven by a career of CENTCOM ALR low. I’m not talking scheduling at all, but the planning and execution part. Now, I also know some of that is because some OG’s are giant pussies and the FGOs/CGOs can’t do anything about that. If that’s your case in life right now, then at least resolve to not throw in the towel, wait that guy out, and be ready to win harder when the next guy (who hopefully isn’t a pussy) takes command. Now, I have also worked with phenomenal tanker crews, both AD and ARC. Same MWS as the shitty ones, but a whole new world attitude-wise. One real world example...Niagara lost their -130s, but they clearly brought the more tactical mindset to the -135 world. Those guys have their shit together and are willing to “push the envelope” to make the mission not only happen, but be more effective. I appreciate their openness to “non-standard” things and their flexibility. My perception is they care about the bigger picture and doing their damndest to make the team more effective within their means. There are other great units in the region as well, but I think the Niagara example is one that shows perspective/attitude can be the sole thing that makes a tanker unit awesome, or dog shit. But that’s just one fighter guy’s opinion. I do truly feel for all my AMC bros who have to deal with monumental bullshit and candy-ass leadership on a daily basis. I know many of you would be doing things a whole lot differently if the careerist weren’t on your backs 24/7.

USERRA Protections

Yes they are exempt. See bullet e of the attached memo. SAF MR USERRA Memo July 2017.pdf -
The only way it would negatively affect you is if you’re a douche. Don’t treat the students like you’re better than them, talk down to them, etc. Give a shit about teaching them - their success is your success. Those students will be in the CAF when you get there - be the name they’re stoked to see on the inbound list, not the guy they cringe at.
-
Maybe, or like most of the guys I know in my group +/- a few years, they’ll fly fighters their entire career. Timing (and seniority!) is damn near everything.
-
If there are any bros who either have a plane, or would consider purchasing (with or without partners), consider putting it in a club out of a local airport. It probably won’t make money, but it’ll offset costs for the owner(s) while providing a fun environment to fly in...notably without the AF bullshit or other things that come with flying out of a FBO. You’d be surprised how many people you can have in a club per aircraft while not having much, if any, scheduling conflicts.
-
Think about all the people in this country who would, without question, suck start the shit out of a pitot tube if I told them it was the safest way to test it...I’m a pilot, so therefore an expert and everything I say regarding planes is true, and cannot be critically examined or questioned!

The corona virus special was pretty hilarious (first one, not the second one)

So just like 99% of the MSM. Par for the course!
