  1. A friend’s kid was told no by an AF recruiter, citing hand tattoo. Sure enough, reg does not permit tattoos on hands. Anyone have experience with waivers for this? Is it a reasonable Pk for a waiver and this recruiter is being lazy?
  2. We live in a “very good” school system, ranked highly nationally. My kids are now in a private school, initially because of the remote bullshit (by the way, 5 days in person Preschool through 8th, since Aug...one case). Now we’ve seen the other side, and compared to same age kids of friends who are still in the “real good” public schools, the difference is startling. My kids are immensely ahead of their public school peers; the curriculum and expectations makes the public school a total joke. And this is comparing against a “really good, nationally ranked” public school system...we won’t go back. I cannot imagine how shitty the public system is outside of the “highly ranked” areas. Pay attention to what your kids are/are not learning, I was fat dumb and happy until the remote catalyst, now I shudder to think about the shit education they would have received had I kept not really paying attention/seen the other side. Significant reform is needed in the public school system.
  3. Exactly, haven’t met a single cop or heard a single cop (on podcasts, etc.) blindly defend Floyd, for example. They’ve all cringed at what happened. The point of my sarcastic post was to highlight how stupid it is to paint entire communities, organizations, etc. with a broad brush. Terms like “systemic” are wildly overreaching and only contribute to extremely misleading “10% true” narratives. This isn’t roll call, it’s real life...wildly embellished bullshit has no place here, yet that’s what the media, govt, and the masses love.
  4. Exactly. But on the other hand, did you know the B-1 community has a systemic problem with child porn. https://www.argusleader.com/story/news/crime/2015/05/12/ellsworth-pilot-sentenced-child-pornography/27166693/
  5. Happens a ton. I have several friends who have quit because that specific problem (spineless leadership) was overpowering. They know many who have done the same. The analogy I can think of us relative to us is being in a wing where every debrief is preceded by the wing/cc saying you are a shit pilot and fucked this sortie away royally and will be held accountable via Q3, qual pulling, etc. Now commence tapes that show you actually executed the TTP quite well...doesn’t matter, the whole base already thinks you’re the world’s worst pilot. Tomorrow it happens to one of your bros. Still want to be a pilot in that wing?
  6. Oct 2019 from what I found in a .69 sec google search. My general thought (not directed at Pawnman): Police do need to be held accountable, but they should be helped with better/more consistent training and their leadership needs to have their backs. I don’t mean cover up crimes, but stop throwing them under the bus the second some zero-context video hits the news. Let’s gather the facts before demonizing an officer; stop letting the media get away with ramming unchecked narratives down the public’s throats. To this specific incident: The video sure doesn’t look good, but what’s the context, what happened in the preceding minutes or hours to this situation? Had the guy been getting in the police’s faces, touching them, ignoring commands for a long time? Had he threatened them verbally? Had they given him numerous warnings to disperse/get back? Many of us have been in numerous situations killing people where some fucking dipshit who wasn’t there starts their virtuous armchair quarterbacking - how about said dipshit has the full picture before questioning or accusing those present in the moment. Again, the 10 sec clip doesn’t look great, but I will not judge this officer or any others until the full picture is determined. I wasn’t there, we’re any of you spear chuckers?
  7. It’s amazing how many WB guys I’ve talked to who haven’t been to work in 60-90 days, only flew 6 days in a month (and went to somewhere awesome), all while getting paid great money. I can’t wait...please don’t fuck this up for us Rona!
  8. You spelled her name wrong...racist.
  9. He’s probably more interested in whether you like dog shit fake syrup or not...says a lot about a man’s character!
  10. We’ve had many dudes go down for multiple days from each shot. One guy was hit hard for 3 weeks following the first one. Have cancelled a lot of lines for lack of pilot availability. It’s no walk-in-the-park flu shot.
  11. I wonder if the board has realized yet they’re a bunch of racist POS. No?...I didn’t think so. Step 1 of minimizing racism: start at the lowest levels...if parents/residents of that area aren’t calling them out in droves, then we don’t make progress as a country.
  12. What in the fuck is this dipshit gov thinking? This is one of the worst ideas I’ve ever heard. Keep electing shitheads and the people will keep getting shitty ideas and policy.

I hope heads roll on that one, unbelievable. And the “lesson” they’ve taught, again, is don’t trust the police. That’s an invalid lesson and not applicable to 98% of cops, but shit like this makes people wholesale distrust all cops. I’ve always had positive interactions with police and appreciate they’re service to the community, but no matter how nice one is, they will never be allowed in my house, vehicle, etc. unless I have no legal choice.
  14. The irony is for the amount of black people you’ve talked to who support your viewpoint, I have 7 (yes I’ve counted when I thought about it) black friends who do not share your viewpoint (and 3 of them came to this country on a raft as a child...so no, they’re not from a “privileged” family). They are along the thought process espoused earlier in this thread that historical treatment and past laws have been terrible/discriminatory, and there are absolutely things to address and make better today, but there is not a systemic, nation-wide, far-reaching (or whatever other adjective you want to use) problem of racism. It is real and they want it gone, but it is so wildly blown out of proportion when attached to words like “systemic” and the focus of those who are well intentioned is significantly misguided. So consider this, or just throw it away because it’s counter to the narrative, but I hope you guys don’t, because it’s certainly a perspective that needs to be considered so we can move forward in the most positive direction, without being misguided so strongly by bullshit spewed by the media and politicians.
  15. Yep, and yet we’re hell bent on destroying it and plunging ourselves into a dark shithole. “Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times.” - we’re in the last part of that quote, and history repeats itself.
  16. Too many Americans think everyone who doesn’t think/live exactly like them is hopelessly wrong and must be corrected through all means necessary. It’s a very dangerous slope we’ve all been slipping down for years. I support those people’s right to be anti-everything, just as I support the right to get vaccinated if you so choose. Neither side has the moral high ground, but they sure think they do.
  17. FltPlan Go is great (and free). I use that combined with a stratux. I have 2x Foreflight IPADs at work, and I still don’t give a shit about bringing them home to fly GA, that’s how good FltPlan Go is. Foreflight is certainly the gold standard, but not worth paying for when I can have the other one free.

Can’t find primers anywhere other than way inflated prices on gunbroker. I kick myself every time I think about my many opportunities in previous years to stockpile...never again! On that note, anyone have any lines on primers that aren’t ludicrous gunbroker price gouging?

Got a Dead Air Wolfman for 9mm and 300 AAC. I’ll use it on a couple 9mm pistols and an AR .300. I got it through silencershop.com, who works through local dealers if you so choose. Mine was available immediately at a LGS, so that allowed the paperwork process to start immediately. About $1k total, including tax stamp and trust fee (I’m using their option to set up a trust for me vs. doing it all myself). Edit: Can also use it on .223 and 7.62 (semi auto only). I think it’ll be a great all-around can; I will probably buy another one at some point, but I can’t see myself buying more than that...rather spend that money on more guns/reloading supplies.

Pulled the trigger on the suppressor today, now for the painful wait...thanks bureaucracy.
  21. Some units culturally do ROPMA to O-5...no ACSC, but it does mean you promote 3 years later than you otherwise would have. You don’t care now, but you might once you do the financial math...I would have lost out on almost $30k in the aggregate (counting BAH differential). So personally it came down to, “can I stomach doing ACSC for an additional $30k?” Yes I could. Additionally ROPMA is not a guarantee, seems dependent on the state; can’t speak to AFRES personally, but do know a guy who’s on thin ice and may be pushed out by shitty leadership (he refused to do ACSC)...and he’s one of the highest producing individuals in the AF, so if he gets booted, nobody stands a chance in that corner of AFRES.

It’s amazing the dumb shit I hear sometimes, even more so when they’re talking with the “I’m a gun expert” type. You would think owners would screen for general firearms/shooting knowledge in the interview.
  23. The Dems would love that...more impressionable voters, they don’t give a fuck about the actual people or the security consequences, only increasing Pk of keeping their oligarch livelihood (to be fair, this mentality is on both sides). Make the process to gain citizenship smoother (cut a lot of the “red tape”bureaucratic bullshit), but no free lunch...immigrate legally, work illegally at your own risk with min impact to society/resources, or fuck off. I feel for the good people who are illegally here trying to make a better life, working hard, and not sucking from the gov tit, so help them out by making the process easier/smoother, but don’t just hand them citizenship and all its benefits because, well I want your vote...

I was looking at the new Dead Air Wolfman - it can be reduced to 5” and 9.8 oz (from 7.5”/14.4oz),which would be helpful on the pistols. It covers the calibers I’m most interested in suppressing (9mm, 223, 300 AAC). Then I’ll have to tell my wife how I had to get a new pistol red dot sight because I don’t have suppressor height sights...it’s not my fault, I didn’t have a choice!

I also have thought about the “coolness wears off” factor. That said, my two functional reasons for still considering them are: - Less noise for my neighbors/my kid’s hearing (my hearing is already fucked, so no factor there!) I’ve shot several suppressed weapons and am fully aware of how wrong the movies are, but they still can make a decent difference, depending on obvious factors. The 9mm pistol and the .300 Blackout rifle I shot with subs were very quiet (relatively). - The suppressor would help in a HD scenario, in terms of less flash/noise, leading to lower risk of overloading senses and reducing shooter performance.
