  1. If you signed individual leases you're good and he's screwed. If you signed one lease if you break it the agreement is broken and he's good too. Either way you're good. What does that mean to you? First, this law supersedes whatever military clause is in your lease if your landlord has intent to screw you (mine did leaving college). You did not waive your rights under this law unless it specifically says so (that's covered in a previous section of this law). Second, you need to provide your landlord 30 days minimum notice of your intent to terminate the lease. When you provide that notice of intent, include a copy of your PCS orders to somewhere else for longer than 90 days. Make them sign and date it and give you a copy. Don't lose that copy, you may need it to prove you did your part later. Depending on what state you live in there may be additional requirements of the landlord with regards to how long he may retain your security deposit. In Arizona, Florida, Mississippi, Texas, and Wisconsin, (the only places I've researched) they must repay your or send you written notification of their intent to charge within 30 days of lease termination. Your lease terminates on the last day of the month you've paid rent through. Example: You have a RNLTD of 15 May. You provide your landlord intent to terminate the lease on 15 April and agree to pay a prorated month's rent for 14 days on May 1. Most landlords assume a 28 day month regardless of how many days are actually in the month. You must vacate the premises by 15 May and return the keys, etc. Your lease is terminated at 11:59PM on 15May. They have until 15 June to either: return your deposit in full, or send you a letter detailing why they aren't returning it. If you have a problem with your landlord, you can talk to the JAG, but likely he will tell you to pound sand. You may have to retain an outside attorney. Generally, a $100 letter from an attorney with their lettercranium on it will get you what you want. I had a really bad experience with a landlord who told me that "the lease signed superseeded federal law" and asked me if I joined the service just to get out of the lease. I took him to court and won my security deposit, attorney's fees, and damages. Don't let these guys assfvck you. 2. Anthony was one of the nicest dudes I've ever met. He got along with everyone he met and he always was in a good mood. What a tragedy. Him Him.....
  3. Didn't say a hud was required, I said it was nice. And I didn't say I had boatloads of experience in multiengine fighters, I said the t-38 told isn't that complicated, and that comes from a dude who had no concept of what most of that meant before I got the the -38. In the -38, there were 3 important numbers I cared about on the t/o roll, and the abort decision matrix was pretty simple. Not sure how well it translated to the next jet, but whatever. I'm not saying the a model is a bad jet, I'm saying the c model upgrades are nice and made my life easier. Agree that told is for the check section chodes.
  4. Disagree. The told is complicated, yes, but too hard for the students to deal with? Not a chance. There is a lot of discussion in the beginning of phase 3 on what the told means and what the different numbers mean. And lets be serious, there are really only 3 numbers that matter on the t/o roll and with the PMP the go/no-go decision is a lot easier. When I left sheppard in May there was 1 IFF jet and 6-9 UPT jets that weren't PMP. There's no need to go into what the abort criteria in the t-38 are, but I would submit that it's just not that tough. There are plenty of dangerous portions in the t-38 syllabus, single engine approaches and no flap landings come to mind. Do you recommend that the USAF mods all the t-38s with bigger wings so the approach speeds are slower too? I think a big reason behind the c-model upgrade was to get budding tactical juggernauts potentially going to fighters some experience with a limited HOTAS, HUD, and UFC. I never flew the A-model -38 but I certainly liked the instruments in the c-model and having a HUD made learning to land a little less hair-raising I think. Compared to my hud-out approaches they were much better. And by the way the new seat still won't work in the final turn if the motors both quit. Something about a -1600-1900 VVI for the first 1/2 makes it tricky to have a seat that works.
  5. Went down nearly $100 in Phoenix area...
  6. Try the base arts and crafts shop, that's where we got ours. I think it was around $50-75 each.
  7. where can I buy one
  8. Saw this on the marquee leaving the gate today... https://www.topsinblue.com/application.html Don't all apply at once, I don't know if AFPC could handle that many applicants.
  9. Not quite. Two squadrons from Luke are leaving, they haven't decided which ones (block 25 or 42) and that still leaves 2 squadrons of vipers at Luke. B-Course is 9 months plus 4 weeks of SEAD academics for active duty guys. Tuscon mostly takes guard and international guys as far as I know. Kelly does 1 b-course per year, if you get selected for a viper in Jan-April you'll likely go there. If I were you I'd want to come to Luke because it's the only CONUS fighter base near a big city which is awesome.
  10. It's a very long story and I've only ever heard it through hearsay. I'm not sure what the real story is, but I know lawyers were involved on both sides. It was a mess.
  11. Everything we do, Steve? Everything we do supports the boots on the ground. That is the mission of the air force. Securing Air Dominance and using it to support the Army/USMC/USAF/SF/whoever who need it to defeat all enemies foreign and domestic. All the other shit we do supports that mission. I believe this is a primetime example of what is wrong with and what I hate about my generation. Apparently to him there is no honor in supporting someone besides his twitter account, youtube channel, or facebook friend counter. If it doesn't directly impact his ego, he's not interested. Same shit with reality television, TMZ, grocery store line magazines, and SNAP UPT studs crying at assignment night (or worse threatening lawsuits...it happened at CBM a year ago) because they got KC/C/MQ/B/F-XX when they DESERVED and were OWED KC/C/MQ/B/F-YY. I think it was when I played 10 and under soccer that tournaments started handing out participant trophies. WTF?! I didn't win, I shouldn't get a trophy. That's my motivation to work harder and do better next time. I am not the pointy end of the spear, I am not a warrior, I have not done anything to earn the military discounts or the "thanks for your service" I get while at lunch in uniform. Do I work hard and am I proud of the work I do? Yes, but I don't get why so many people born after 1984 require the world to revolve around them. If Steve from Tampa had said to himself "well, fvck, maybe I'm not the guy who flies the KC-135s at MacDill, but I am the guy who works 12 hours a day in MPF/LRS/POL/MX/Comm/CP/CE to make sure that the guys who ARE flying the KC-135s to the war zone 3 times a month are getting the TDY credits they need and their records aren't fvcked up because they're probably too busy to check up on them. This is an important job I have, making sure that the records are straight. I am a valued member of the Air Force not because I carry a rifle but because I help the guys who do." Why can't we just be proud of helping each other out? Makes me think about the guy on here a month or so ago talking about pilots in afgan...something about "you're helping someone out on the worst day in the life and they're counting on you." Certainly making sure I get paid the right amount is vastly different than keeping a fire team alive, but it is along the same spectrum. I know this is a generalization and there are countless examples of how this doesn't apply ( like this guy who is 6 months younger than me), but clearly this is a generational thing because it sure as shit wasn't like this 30 or 40 years ago. I don't know how to fix it, but I'm trying my best for myself and I'm open to suggestions. That is all. /rant EDIT: Better, AlarmRed? Seriously, I'm not trying to be a dick, I want to know what I screwed up so I get it better next time. I added some other acronyms for who may have boots on the ground. What else does the USAF do besides support this end-state goal? Cyberwarfare? Ok, I would argue that Cyberwarfare hinders an enemy's ability to fight thus making things easier for the ground guys. Space assets? That's obvious, GPS, Comm, ISR, SBIRS, etc. AFSOC stuff in unnamed countries? Yeah, that's part of who the rest of the USAF supports, that's my point.
  12. Uhh..wait a minute. The motto clearly doesn't address the USAF's true mission. Maybe we should ask for his input. Maybe something like "Aim High...Delay, Deflect, Disappoint!"
  13. That video has it all wrong. There are way too many shots of "airplanes" and not enough shots of the real warriors. The role models in our world's greatest air force. Where were the shots at MPF? How about the true heroes from the PFT monitoring service?
  14. RUMINT around one of the squadrons at Luke is that the HO WG/CC only wants Block 42s (no surprise) and they're supposed to stand a squadron up at Holloman within a year...great airspace but shitty social life for the single 25 year old LTs. Why does it seem like all the guys making these decisions went to UPT at Willies and B-Course at MacDill? No sense in keeping the last few good deals around for the young guys when the old craniums already had theirs! Now studs get to dream of going to Columbus or Del Rio for 18 months (casual, ASBC, IFS, UPT) to follow it up with a year in Alamagordo! Yes, please! Back to studying...
  15. Dude, I was in your shoes 2 years ago. Here's how it worked for me: I got a dog when I was casual and bored out of my mind. It was great when I had nothing to do. Then I had to go to IFS and ASBC and my girlfriend watched him for the 2 months I was in the dorms there. For you maybe the parents would work out instead of a girlfriend but whatever. Showing up at UPT you will most likely be living in the dorms for 2 months minimum. Having a dog does not exempt you from living in the dorms, and pets are not allowed in the dorms. I left my dog with my girlfriend while I was stuck in the dorms. Except when I snuck him in a few times. Possible, yes, but not recommended, I almost got busted and it could've gotten really ugly for me. During UPT I had a couple roommates once I got to live off base and they helped me out with him as well as my girlfriend watching him (she lived a couple hours away). When I was on formal release, he stayed home for 12 hours inside. Then I took him out and we played for 30-40 minutes until he was ready to settle down. When you're in UPT, during formal release, generally it works like this after work: study, eat, work out, sleep. Pick 2. Bottom line dude, plan on living in the dorms for a while at UPT, don't plan on them caring you have a dog, and decide from there. PM me if you want more specifics on how it worked for me.
  16. Guess she had a mentor there too... Edit: Fixed
  17. Just to clarify, if I get a non-A letter while on TDY, I can go to any hotel with a government rate and never have to check back in with the base hotel? And I'll be backed up by the JTFR and get the full lodging amount allowable in whatever area I'm in? I had the same lovenote on my orders at water survival last week.
  18. T-1 Drop C-17 McChord MC-12/C-17 McChord C-17 Charleston RC-135 Offutt T-6 Columbus KC-135 McConnell C-130 Dobbins (AFRC) KC-10 McGuire (AFRC) UAV/UAS/RPA Creech MC-12/KC-10 Travis C-17 Dover T-1 Columbus C-21 Ramstein C-130 Little Rock Right now there are 0 Active Duty BIT dudes at CB waiting for vipers, and 1 Guard dude.
  19. CB 10-10 6 x -38 (1 Saudi) 2 x -44 1 x helo 13 or 14 x T-1 Sorry if I got the T-1 numbers wrong.
  20. No pets in the dorms, no special accomodations. Expect to be stuck in the dorms through about mid-January. I lived in them from about this time last year until Jan. Apparently too many people were using the "I have a dog" excuse to not live on base. It's not bad, saves gas, but living off base makes $$$$ (BAH = $850, 2 roommates =$400 rent...very nice) I used the AHRN site to find a house off base, so try that.
  21. Where does bo-at come from? I searched and found it was listed in a thread but that one got derailed...something about the navy uses two syllabus to pronounce something the air force only uses one to pronounce?
  22. ENJJPT is a different syllabus with a different MASS I think. Danny Noonin is right...the mass is all relative scores. And, your Phase 1 academics only count towards your track select. once you get to Phase 3 everything is a clean slate and you start all over with new academics and everything. So, how much does academics count? 10% of your T-6 MASS. Checkrides are 40%, daily rides are 25% and flight commander ranking is 25%. Those are all relative scores as well, but different downgrades count for different amounts on checkrides and daily rides. For example, if you get 3 downgrades on your aerobatics and someone else gets downgraded on Ground Ops, GK, and EP, even though you both got 3 downgrades you did better than he did because he made bigger mistakes that are weighted more. Except they don't let us see that black magic math, so that's just what IPs tell me. Hope that helps.
  23. Yeah I know, and the FIH says it's supposed to be that way but I feel like a retard when I say "level flight level" and I think it's funny.
  24. CB 10-07 8 x -38 (6 AD, 2 Portuguese) 3 x -44 1 x UH-1 14 x T-1 (I think, might be fewer)
  25. I said it today and wanted to kick myself in the nuts, but any time I hear someone say "Level Flight Level XX" I laugh because it sounds so stupid.
