  1. So will the O-5 board results take another six months, too? The board itself already had an extra week...
  2. Because continuation is offered, but not required (as is the election to accept beyond 20 years of service). And because DOPMA trumps ADSC, regardless.
  3. So AvB allows you to increase your amount through renegotiation so long as you increase your ADSC by 3 years. But if you get passed over twice, law makes continuation your option (up to 20 with waiver up to 24 for O-4). So if you’re passed over you can extend the ADSC at the higher rate and opt to only stay until 20 when twice passed over. If you’re already sucked in with the devil’s money and looking for options, consider the contradictions associated with these programs which work in your favor.
  4. She was actually the RN, and the only one who actually looked at the window to see if it was the correct version. Ain’t that some shit?
  5. Hover at 6,000’ at 35C? I’d love to see how this thing performs engine-out
  6. I loved going to the tanker. The gunpig was on the forward edge of its energy curve and the tanker wanted to fall out of the sky, all at low altitude and at night. Some guys in the community love to shoot. I think the greatest part of the mission was seeing dudes go home and watching the exfil with no friendlier maimed/injures/killed. Added perk if you got to meet them later on and they had a “thanks for saving my ass” story.
  7. So knowing this, is it advisable to send FAIPs to IFF to at least try to minimize what they don’t know? Does the recency of IFF experience correlate to B-course performance?
  8. This! I’m pissed off watching Airmen shirk duties for the sake of extracurricular activities, often on the backs of other Airmen. My last office had a SNCO who was too busy doing other shit and pawning off her work on others to make the time for it while complaining about how busy she was.
  9. He’s also getting his third star. Expect him at A1 shortly, methinks.
  10. Fly your hardest. Trim until your thumb has a hole in the glove. Be a good dude. Study your ass off. Follow this recipe and you’ll have your choice as to what you’ll get to fly, regardless of which method of UPT or ENJJPT you go through. The good news for you is that EVERY damn community out there is hurting for pilots, so if you do these things, you’ll be able to take all of the considerations from other threads into account when you make your choice.
  11. So currently stuck without network access betweeen AORs. What’s this talk of renegotiating? Unable to access the PSDM.
  12. This I know (authored the verbiage for SAF/AA, including the expansion of the T-3 option down to SQs). The T-2 is delegable to NAF/CCs, if the MAJCOM/CC desires to do so. AFRC did this with nearly all of their T-2 requirements.
  13. The same way a guy at AF/SE who had PCS orders to command a squadron was passed over. The dumpster fire continues...
  14. Delegable T-2. Efforts were made to expand delegation down to even Wing CCs but the HAF Directors lost their collective shit when they heard we wanted to let CCs make risk-based decisions without asking mom and dad 🙄
  15. How so? No ADSC for the training or 365, so...?
  16. Actually, Caravans are for Air Advisors (Big Blue). Combat Air Advisors quality through AFSOC in a myriad of airframes (one of which is the Caravan but they aren’t deploying in the Air Advisor billets). My understanding from the fellas I met in the deployment pipeline is that the A-29 guys can expect to deploy a few times to advise/assist in addition to schoolhouse activities (something maybe the rest of the Air Advisor community should consider, IMHO).
  17. Terrible video to watch. Looked like when we do the reverse prop in flight scenario in the sim. Him him 🍺
  18. So the Air Force has a board to promote (or not) up to 100% of its eligibles to O-4. It then uses a ridiculous amount of time to second-guess itself about said selectees? I’d say something along the lines of “YGBSM!”, but that would imply my being surprised by this revelation.
  19. Don’t forget to subtract 10% for the military discount.
  20. I mean that we can get doctors on the economy but we can’t go out and get pilots for the Air Force. But for some reason the guy we can replace with a phone call gets a market-based and substantially larger bonus amount. I’m thinking the service needs to prioritize a bit, especially since the cost of aviation ratings quickly approaches the cost of medicine. Never said I want hard pay linked to the economy. But the bonus (I’m assuming this is what you mean with “soft pay”) should definitely link to the economy. The same logic that’s saying bail for the money and seniority says you want a bonus based on demand for your skill set. The market drying up means the bonus goes away regardless, so why not make it better?
  21. This is actually a proposal that makes sense to me. Align the program with something like the doctors (which unlike the airlines, we can make up for using the economy) and pay accordingly. And the number being aligned with the market actually may move the needle for a few folks. It still doesn’t change block time or quality of life issues, but it’s a start.
  22. I think the part we all seem to be missing is the fact that it’s a Guard unit. They have to balance not only the perception of the service in question, but also the state and local governments. If the Governor of Tennessee says “WTF?!”, I’d expect to see a reaction such as we did.
