  1. Pm sent.
  2. Shoot a note to David Kaplan at AFPC (see Global for details). See you out there.
  3. Just wait until all of the additional duties and ancillary issues are "managed" by the hired civilians. You think it's hard getting this shit done now? Wait until someone who's paid by the hour starts working it.
  4. But we can’t manage to put that money in the pockets of the aviators who were doing said queep. Got it. 🖕
  5. Lowa Zephyr. Best. Boots. Ever.
  6. Please tell me the airlines don’t actually believe the Air Force will give them their people back at the end of the contract timeline. The most untrustworthy institution will definitely find an excuse to prevent the transition, or tie on some ARC requirement which still bones the airline.
  7. So not near an airport...at 50’. I’m going to call shenanigans. I considered right of way rules, but since a helicopter can hover, I guess it could go either way?
  8. So what these slides tell me is the bonus isn’t the answer. It’s increasing flight pay across the Total Force. When shortages grow in the ARC this quickly, it’s fairly apparent you have a compensation problem (in addition to the continuing cultural problems).
  9. There’s even a form for this to streamline documentation of stopping things (AF679). Continuing working on a system of record to process and retain all waivers for the entire enterprise so this shit becomes easier than Trump tweeting.
  10. So what do the flyovers do, then?
  11. You know, I’m actually more comfortable with an age 70 than a 19-YO watered-down UPT grad. At least in the former there’s a great experience base to pull from. i agree the UPT overhaul isn’t the answer to this, either. This Task Force is lost in the weeds on total pilot numbers, and they forgot the key premise we all touted when this shit started: the funny thing about 10 years of experience is it takes 10 years to replace.
  12. PIC has always been the waiver acceptance authority. Also charged with the safe conduct of the flight and mission.
  13. A talented coworker owns a great engraving business and also makes customized holsters. He's a retired CMSgt and can engrave anything you can send him a picture of. Reasonably priced and quality work! @onpointholsters
  14. Especially considering the percentage of promotes in rated career fields isn't anywhere close to 22.3% higher (in fact, about 4% lower)...
  15. FWIW, there's a lot of guys who went to AMC first who were able to come to AFSOC (across the entire spectrum from C-21 to C-5 and tankers). These guys have the flexibility to potentially flow back (saw this with an EC-130 guy) to their previous MDS. The flow in the other direction is much more difficult. If you grow up in AFSOC, there isn't a lot of flex to get you into other options out there. If I were young again, I'd spend some time seeing the world in another MDS, and then determine if I wanted to flow into AFSOC or not later on in life. But I grew up limited to two locations and a continuous deployment rhythm to the sandbox over a decade with little opportunity to expand beyond certain theaters. AFSOC is exciting, but it can quickly become Groundhog Day. YMMV.
  16. Shortest. Thread. Ever.
  17. Actually, you'll probably see select percentages go down. Why? Because everyone left will HAVE to fly the line, leaving the REMFs as the only able bodies to man the Wing Bake Sale.
  18. Actually, most of the non-promotes I know are/were on staff when the board met...
  19. Clearly the above question is meant for those without ambitions to keep ANG/AFRC as a part of their future plans.
  20. For those separating for the airlines: how many of you are switching to the new retirement system? Is this a consideration in the calculus for people on the way over the fence?
  21. Apparently also not allowed to say "fucking"
  22. Hear there's a few really cheap FBOs a few hours north of the base. Check them out!
  23. Just going to leave this here... https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4585716/Couple-sex-Manchester-Ibiza-Ryanair-flight.html?ito=social-facebook
  24. The minute the Air Force: a) ...puts Integrity First; 2) ...starts to realize the "Self" means a person is involved; and d) ...becomes Excellent at SOMETHING with regards to this shit show; ...then I'd expect others to reciprocate back to the Service and stop voting with their feet. This one-way covfefe (which has lasted for nearly 3 DECADES, for those keeping score at home) has gone on long enough. I've worked in this current job for a few years in the Puzzle Palace. I've learned promotability drives action and inaction. MOST of your GOFO members are at the summit of their careers. What drives many of them is achieving escape velocity to move on to the next job or to maximize retirement years. The very last thing many of them want is someone making waves in their portfolios since they can't go any higher. Kind of ironic considering our greatest Air Force heritage is "change"...
