  1. "Suitable". Hmm. Pepperidge Farm remembers... https://www.military.com/daily-news/2016/10/25/inspector-general-report-widespread-hazards-military-housing.html https://www.airforcetimes.com/articles/al-udeid-the-ghttps://www.military.com/daily-news/2017/02/26/hundreds-attend-service-veteran-who-warned-burn-pit-hazards.htmlood-the-bad-and-the-very-ugly https://www.military.com/daily-news/2017/02/26/hundreds-attend-service-veteran-who-warned-burn-pit-hazards.html Glad the Air Force recently showed interest in the places we sleep on the road...
  2. You do realize an extra $15-20 per ticket TRIPLES TO QUADRUPLES the airline profit margin, right? https://www.iata.org/pressroom/pr/Pages/2016-12-08-01.aspx
  3. Please tell me you submitted the leave and made them deny on the official request. This stupidity needs to be highlighted. Regarding "Catch 22": it was my submission to the CSAF Reading List.
  4. And this is JUST Delta...
  5. This. A much higher percentage of our society is being paid to do nothing. Why in the hell would we take from the 1% who sign up to put their lives on the line? Bullshit flag: raised (P)
  6. One may ask why the Air Force wastes billions of man-hours and people meeting "requirements" to even be eligible for O-7 when we're statistically positioning 1% of our force beyond this mark. "Joint and school for everyone because they may compete for O-7!" 99% of us will never achieve this end-state. And on top of this, boards make it a discrimination for O-6 a whole 4-years prior to it even coming into the calculus. We need a better way.
  7. "May the odds ever be in your favor"
  8. If it was a good deal, it wouldn't be on the verge on non-Vol fills. In fact, the best deals aren't advertised (BACN). How about we turn these 11X requirements into 36X? Seems like you guys have the answers to everything. It'll also <GASP> address the pilot shortage concerns.
  9. Spoken like someone who doesn't have to project combat capability and has the luxury of being able to shut down the organization on a whim because it's the n-th Whateverday of the month. You and your brand of "nothing-to-see-here's" are EXACTLY the reason this organization is holding its ankles in a prison shower. Nut the fuck up and tell your boss how ugly the baby is for once in your fucking life. Quit making red squares green at the ultimate expense of the Service. I see this more and more everyday and it's sickening. If you're a fucking leader, try working for your Airmen, not just your boss. Quit neutering the Service with your silence and "Yes, Boss". Your brand of leadership is how "Pretty darn good" is born. For you young guys reading this: tell your boss what's really broken. Demand they do something about it or get relief from responsibility. It's the only way this thing will recover.
  10. The best part is the IST bubbas who will have to have records interpreted or decided won't receive JQO credit. Only in the AF...
  11. https://www.easternnewmexiconews.com/story/2017/03/14/news/military-plane-crashes-near-airport/151388.html NOK pending A toast...
  12. Shack! It goes back to the fracturing of the service. Fingers has it right: the squadron used to be everything. You never had a NEED to go outside the squadron save for a few instances. Each squadron had a personnelist, someone to handle pay vouchers, even MX reported to the same CC who owned the jets and the mission sets. I remember going to work with my dad and seeing pilots and maintainers in the same offices working towards the same goal. If a line didn't go, there wasn't quibbling over who owned the failure: the answer was clear, the SQ! To bad we couldn't periodically autosave every once in a while and realize the unintended consequences of the path the service set out on.
  13. What the fuck is going on here these days? Does BODN need a goddamn "safe space"?! SNAPs: less mouth, more ear. If you have time to quibble and bitch on here, you have time to be in the vault or the -1. Hopefuls: timing, skill, work ethic, luck.. Control what you can control; enjoy the ride when the cards are dealt.
  14. Another option is to have ACM orders drafted. Can help get you on any aircraft regardless of passenger seats released (some won't based on cargo type). ARMS bubbas can hook it up.
  15. The NATO orders and ID are all that's required by the FCG for official travel. If you make it to Italy or Germany, the Patriot Express averages every other day moving to the US (BWI).
  16. Personal litmus test: if I can have a beer there with my kids present, I can have a beer with my meal in uniform with a bro.
  17. Except the local commander can always be more restrictive than the parent regulations.
  18. Well-played
  19. I get the negative aspects of attached guys, but if me flying a line every two weeks means the guys flying the line get some semblance of normalcy in their lives, sign me up. You could easily schedule 3:1 against a CAP with the bodies in this building and round-robin seat swap as required (and also guarantee coverage when some bubba has to nug out that .ppt for the boss by COB). We can shoot holes in it all day long, or we can get pseudo-creative and find some relief where it exists. I don't necessarily need to be qualified to strike (seeing-eye guy can have all of the RIFLEs he wants). I know I'm not alone when I say I'd do it (so long as you don't RECAT me for getting qualified and helping your community out). Not married to the idea, but I've seen firsthand how beat up this community gets and if even a minor assist helps, if it gives one more day back to bubbas burning out and not knowing what day of the week it is, I'm for it.
  20. I've looked around the Puzzle Palace and wondered why we can't leverage an infrastructure to allow the rated force here to fly a CAP or two. There are more than enough radiators and snowflakes here to relieve the Wings of a bit of burden. And they could benefit from continued exposure to one of the more daunting missions in the enterprise. They're drawing ACIP and/or flight pay. Most offices can spare a guy for a day or two a month. Currency and training concerns? It's a good-deal TDY for guys stuck in garrison at the garden spots we've chosen to base these assets. And after this long I'll fly damn near anything.
  21. A few points: - Theres always a possibility to work a CRO or other means to generate an OPR date movement in front of the board for your PRF or draft a medal for an accomplishment. - Although there are "sticklers" in the Air Force who will insist every bullet originates from a report of some kind, this requirement is not accurate. The actual requirement points out that the Senior Rater "must know the information to be true". This means if an action is so great it makes the cut-line for a PRF, it can be included without previously being on a report. This also means if your stratification has improved since your last report, it can (and should) reflect in the push line. Hope this helps.
  22. More importantly, it gives you a glimpse into the minds of your elected leadership and where they stand when you hit the polls...
  23. Inspections isn't a bad way to go. Take the opportunity to help your wing get rid of queep and the BS that doesn't matter. Make sure the guys at your wing waive the stuff that doesn't help your base or your mission. It's all about "smart compliance" now (meaning you're supposed to actually say "no" to things; that's why it's now called an Effectiveness Inspection vice Compliance). Shoot me a PM with any questions.
