Great opportunity for the Israel Air Force to engage in some Viper on Viper action!

Why does this stupid idea keep resurfacing (no pun intended)? Convair had a design for a "Flying Sub"on the drawing boards back in the 1950s

I'm not one for conspiracy theories but this guy has no business being in the election. He can't even form a coherent thought let alone debate someone on issues. it will be interesting to see the whole story on how this guy has risen from nothing to his position today.

Just took my PT test under the new centralized testing scheme. Biggest shit show I have ever seen. Not only did they add 2 inches to my waist, they tacked on a whole minute to my run score. I brought that fact up to my worthless civilian proctor who accused me of lying. So I tracked down the person in front and behind me to verify that I finished with that time. The women then had the gall to say she knew she had the wrong score down but didn't do anything to change it. I've never been so mad at a base "agency." Only 8 more years before I can leave this pathetic excuse of an Air Force...

If you want to fly a C-17, don't plan on being home for more than 96 hrs between missions, thats if they don't simultaneously waive your post and pre mission crew rest. As far as I know, this ops tempo is the new standard until the war ends if ever

During the stage in Bahrain we were allowed to take the shuttle base up to the Navy HQ (NSA) up in Manama so we could get some decent food, etc. The quality of the facilities of the NSA should embarrass our "leadership" who takes pride in "taking care of their airmen." Not only does the NSA have no tents or cadilliacs that should have been replaced 10 years ago, you can wear civilian clothes, and generally just relax on your time off without being harassed by the shoe legion. I say open up the Deid as a PCS location. That way the families would force the people running the base to improve living conditions and get rid of the bullshit rules. For god sakes if we are still living in tents when our 90 year lease is up on that hell hole it just proves once again how our management just wants to get promoted and not care for people in the fight.

Acquisitions has some program working with Space Command in Boulder. That sounds like a dream job right now.

Best evidence I've seen which proves that MacGuyver is a real person

I'll be one of the rare ones on this website. I love the airplane but I do not like my job. The C-17 has awesome capabilities and when you are downrange employing it tactically it cant be beat. However, thats only a small part of the actual airland mission I'm currently in. I definitely underestimated the sheer boredom of crossing the Atlantic empty for the umpteenth time or being alerted several times to a mission that didnt even exist in G2. Furthermore, I like to hand fly the airplane but the community is dominated by guys who treat the autopilot as THE WAY to fly the plane which produces a lot of CRM conflicts. Being constantly gone and having no semblance of a normal social life are the norms with no signs of improvement for the avg copilot. Ultimately, being constantly screwed over by TACC, the endless weather/mx/C2 buffoonery has been wearing a lot on me and I can't wait to find a new airframe. But like Brabus said, I'm very lucky to be in any airplane in the Air Force so it definitely could be worse. I'm a great example of you have to choose the MISSION that interests you the most, not particularly the aircraft.

I think you're confusing the fact that the primary motivator behind the ethnic cleansing in the Balkans was spurred on by Serbian Nationalism (e.g. a quasi political/ethnic influence) not necessarily due to a purely religious obligation as epitomized by Islamic terrorists. Just because the perpetrators in this case all happened to be Christian does not validate that religion made them do it, the same way that just because 100% of Nazis were Christian, etc. I understand that you are trying to spread the blame equally onto all religions but the bottom line, the primary threat to American security is ISLAMIC terrorism. The biggest terror attacks for the past 20 years have been ISLAMIC terrorism. 9/11 was ISLAMIC terrorism. Christian terrorists do not have the funding, weapons, sponsorship or simply the motivation compared to the documented network and capabilities of ISLAMIC terrorists We need to cut the PC bullshit so we can stop these guys and worry about semantics for the recitation sessions at university.

Sad to report the passing of a classic 80s Legend, Patrick Swayze https://www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/Movies/09/14/patrick.swayze/index.html

Looks like they're trying to bring back those old F-19 concepts from the 80s

I'll be flying in my Navion in next Sunday to Warbird parking.

At least thats better than an Army dude that left his iPod full of home made amateur porn on one of our birds. Next thing you know one of our loadmasters in the Sand box has a treasure trove of free movies of a 250 lb woman with her ankles behind her head

Good game down to the wire. Red Wings got shot down 2-1

You do realize that award is complete bullshit. I had to serve casual at my Det until UPT so I was around that place for 5 yrs. The Det then compared to when I was a AS100 actually got worse yet we still got that award b/c the AFROTC commander recently got promoted to head of all AFROTC units and wanted to make himself look good. Don't even consider that factor to where you want to go to school.

This whole concept of calling terrorist attacks "man made disasters" by DHS along with burying our head in the sand from GWOT is why we will never achieve any sort of long term victory against these guys. Osama certainly isn't changing his definitions. For Jimmy Jihad its either death or victory...

The last "bomber" the IAF flew was the Sud Aviation Vatour back in the Six Day War. However their performance was poor especially compared to Mirage IIICJ which achieved better results attacking Arab airfields on top of clinching air superiority. Since then every combat aircraft could both dogfight and bomb. I'm no expert either but I would expect the IAF to focus more R & D and $$$ on improving their inventory of long range PGMs to strike Iranian targets rather than trying to acquire another bomber aircraft and all the ass pain of maintaining a "legacy" stealth, training cadre of pilots, etc.
-
Would never happen. Every IAF fighter needs to be multi-role (even the F-15A/B/C/D have been modified for surface attack) so selecting such a specialized aircraft goes against 50+ yrs of IAF thinking.
-
Yeah this is the latest and greatest idea coming from mentioned SQ/CC. That along with having mandatory PT during the deployment
-
Sounds like something the air force would do. It's all about heritage yeah right

Well short answer the GR.7/GR.9 share the same "big wing" of the Harrier II however they still use a Angle Rate Bombing System like the older AV-8Bs and they use a 25mm single barrel instead of a Gatling gun and have a different avionics package. Another cool feature is that the British versions' Martin Baker seat has a provision to rip off a pilot's NVGs to prevent whip lash during ejection. As for Sea Harriers, they've all been retired from service in the RN but still fly India. They had a different wing and were the first versions to carry Radar (Blue Fox/Vixen) among other features.
