  1. The division at wired.com. According to the picture in that article, apparently at least 1 of the aircraft will be a Mig-21.
  2. Solution: Put a bar code below the receptacle and a bar code scanner on the boom. No more passing tails, no more missed bills. Edit: Shit, I should save this for AFSO 21...
  3. "The common denominator in all this since September 2006 has been four-star Gen. Gary North, the most-feared and hated man in the U.S. Air Force since the brutal reign of Merrill McPeake." This article just lost all credibility.
  4. Out of all the bad ideas I've heard in fixing the fighter issue, sending dudes to the Aggressors right away is the worst. Not because of experience or whatever else but because that is going to kill someone. If you send a new wingman to the Aggressors right out of the B-course, they will absolutely require a TX before they go to their first ops unit. Why? Because 60% of the B-crs is A/G and the Aggressors fly 0% A/G, TGP, CAS, OPSAT. All of the skills that new wingman learned will atrophy and need to be relearned. So then there's the option of not wasting a B-crs slot and send them from UPT to the Aggressors. Great idea. There's a reason why AGSM is such a high emphasis item at the school house. It's because GLOC happens a to a lot of new students. So now we will send inexperienced dudes to clean Vipers that only fly A/A? Or maybe we'll send them through a modified B-crs and kick them out the door. They can't instruct BFM, let alone fly it proficiently. They won't have a clue what is happening on the blue side of a Red Flag to influence the learning. Red air isn't hard to fly, but it's the SA to stay safe in an LFE and the experience to facilitate blue learning why the Aggressors take experienced dudes.
  5. I love the way the Air Force/gov't thinks. - Lets BRAC 2 squadrons at Luke, the fighter pilot shortage won't hit for years. - Lets move 2 squadrons from Luke to Holloman thereby cutting production by 25-30%, the fighter pilot shortage won't hit for years. - Lets RIF a bunch of dudes, the shortage won't hit for years. - Shit! We're a few years from a huge shortage, who let this happen!?
  6. Lights were turned off years ago. Everyone has been using their tactical zipper flashlight to see 6" in front of them.
  7. So where the hell are they going to find 400 fighters to cut? If this is actually true, I bet this is the start of the F-35 reduction.
  8. The real question is if any of the people "bitching" and identifying these problems today will be around in 10 years. My guess is no - of course this assumes there is no stop loss initiated.
  9. My SQ/CC was able to give me the assignment and RNLTD...Viva Las Vegas! No email, nothing on vmpf.
  10. Clearly you were not one of "the chosen."
  11. Nothing from AETC either...the wait continues.
  12. It was something we did at Shaw. Haven't seen it since.
  13. The Air Force did this to me... For example: Electronic records management. The Air Force is so sure that this new system is the way to go it's getting rid of the normal common server. So, 6.9 hours of training and now I'm set right? Nope. Now I need to assign individual permission to each folder in the ERM which to do so, requires full name and CAC-in ID number - the super long number next to your name before you enter your PIN. Once all of the Ops group's information is compiled, only then can I send it off to Tx to get lost in the fax machine or eaten by the mystical Air Force qweep goblins and fairies known as shoes. And I'm not talking about the fairies you all just thought of because I've been trained on the repeal of DADT - then again, maybe I am. God forbid any new individual join the Ops group thus resetting the whole procedure and losing another 2 days of flying...THE AIR FORCE DID THIS TO ME. Squadron Response: "ITS NOT YOUR FAULT"
  14. Who's going to forward this to Gen Welsh?
  15. It was posted on the COP 22 Apr. If you need the link I can get it for you tomorrow. Big picture, really no awesome exchanges - UAE, Lemore F-18's, and Exchange JTAC to Coranado if you have JTAC or FAC-A experience.
  16. Copy all thanks! I'll be sure to tell this to the last 3 VML's of Luke IP's who got nothing but CAF, Test, Aggressor and Exchange jobs.
  17. Anyone know where / when the CAF assignments are going to be published for the fall VML? The porch used to post their state of the community .pdf file on the COP along with the expected assignments for that VML. With the COP going away, it just says to look for it on AFPC - yea, good luck. Historically it would have been out by now. Anyone have some info? Edit: I can never post again - this makes 69.
  18. Satire = mildly funny.
  19. Next you're going to tell me the Super Bowl flyby will be flown by a MQ-9.
  20. Just buy twice as many jets. That should solve the problem, right?
  21. Gsplease, What is your current position in the military? You might want to visit your security office prior to leaving. Just my suggestion.
  22. How do we break the cycle of douche bags promoting douche bags? We need some leaders who aren't afraid to say "General, you are a dumbass."
  23. Are you sure you're a pilot? Sounds like politician speak to me.
  24. If you have a rental car it will be no problem. Montgomery airport is not very big.
  25. I'm not in UAV's and hopefully won't be but I feel those folks pain. The Air Force made a deal with each of us when we signed our paper work for the 10 year commitment. You let me fly airplanes and I'll be in for 10 years. We all know staff tours and other jobs might take us out of the jet temporarily, but it is borderline unethical to have someone sign on for 10 years and the USAF say just kidding, no cockpit for you...ever. Now for those who started pilot training realizing that UAV's were a possibility, I'm with you. But for those who were flying before UAV's were in such high demand I say it just ain't right. Officer first, pilot second is totally understandable in these regards if we had the standard 4 year commitment. Ask how many people with sign up for 10 years as a UAV operator. Don't think you'll get much response.
