  1. it makes me want to cry...wow
  2. Congrats to the gators, but... Florida wont know what hit them. Tebow is old hat when you look at the teams Texas and OU have been playing. Bradford, McCoy, Daniel, Harrel, and couple others have been running and connecting with some of the top recievers in college football this year. Bama is the only worthy opponent Florida has had all season while OU has been dominanting since the slugfest with Texas.
  3. At SPS we did $50 dues every month, which seems to be what most the classes pay here. However, we all got 180 back after we all graduated so total cost here was about 400-450 for the year of upt. That covered food/beer for the various parties(for students, IPs, and fam when they were invovled), patches, scarves, assignment night, and everything else flight related up to graduation. Our class took the view of paying more in dues to ensure everything would be covered and then getting a kick back on the left over funds once we finished.
  4. It will be interesting to see which tweet will be the last one at SPS. There are a couple '59 models on the ramp and many of the tweets here are well into the 20,000's on flight hours.
  5. Not sure how ROTC does it, because I went to the Academy, but they told me if I didnt go rated, didnt get a rated spot, or DQ'd for whatever reason then I would be a scientist no matter what I put down. Furthermore, the rated spot did trump the engineering as long as I could get it. At the time (three years ago) scientist/engineering was one of the few fields that was well below what they wanted in the Air Force. I got my pilot spot and am now flying with no problems. I imagine the AFSC preference is the same regardless of your commissioning source, unless things have changed. Hope that helps.
  6. Reviving this thread because I wanted to validate some of this info since it is three years old (used search function and couldnt find anything else). Just graduated UPT and my new wife is looking for GS jobs at our next base (Hurlburt/Eglin). She has done the whole USA jobs thing and now she is just waiting to see if she gets picked up for the jobs she applied for at our new base. She currently works for a civilian company, and I am just trying to help her as much as possible with the military/GS stuff. I was just wondering if the Civilian Personel Office (if it is still called that) is a good place for us to go to research even more job opportunities and/or follow up on her current job applications. Also, should she call the civilian office at our new base or can the people at our current base help her find more job opportunities? I know a lot of this we can go find out for ourselves but I thought I would ask here first for some first hand experience, especially since I am completly ignorant, as is she, on the how the whole GS system works. Thanks for any info.

    Jeep Wrangler

It seems some of you are more familiar with the great of Texas then me, so I thought I would ask where the good off-roading places are around Sheppard. I bought a jeep 7 months ago and I just moved here from Little Rock, which has some awesome places for jeep adventuring. Any recommendations or links specifically for around north texas or Ok? I would be much abliged. Some of those pics make me envious...i have yet to empty the pockets for a lift or tires...I am only beginning to understand the joy of customizing my jeep. thanks.
