  1. I’ve noticed the AF has been a little more hush hush the last few years in regards to firings.
  2. We continue to get softer everyday.
  3. Yep. There’s uncovered storage space n base, and covered storage on the way to the lake if your boat is nicer. That’s what your Saturdays are going to be for, hanging on the lake with your classmates to blow off steam.
  4. So tired of this. This week sucks for the Red Bulls, and that was true prior to today. Prayers for all involved. But let’s keep cutting training and delaying acquisitions of new stuff…seems to be working.
  5. That’s not how it’s paid out. At least mine was paid the first day of the contract for the year ahead.
  6. Haha, I’m teasing myself. I’m one of the guys who was getting out (hit submit on my apps Mar 15, Aug separation date). I took the 3 year to see how things play out. That would be my best case scenario. That being said, I know better. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me a million times…
  7. Great. Maybe they’ll bring back early retirement.
  8. That’s pretty funny. Anybody know the backstory?
  9. Yep, the list is out. Check the PSDMs.
  10. That’s what I’m thinking as well...if even that. Since Corona derailed my getting out plans, I’m looking at a PCS that is agreeable to the family and me. Since I’ll get the ADSC anyway, toying with taking the 3 year option. Just wanted to see if anybody had SA so I make the best possible decision. Other than the obligatory don’t take the devils money.
  11. Anybody have SA on next years bonus?
  12. In that PDG it gives you directions to a link in vMPF for self service actions. Follow that link and it brings you to a page to cancel/move your DOS. You can do either from the link. I just applied to cancel mine (unfortunately) today. You will just need a brief justification as to why.
  13. I’m in the same boat brother. What a difference a week makes. The thing that makes me mad is if the AF does retain me, it’ll be through no effort of their own.
  14. Don’t worry guys. I’m an 11B up for the bonus this upcoming year, and I won’t be taking it. The guys I know that took it are patches and/or have school aspirations. So, like always, are guys that were going to stay in regardless. Or, irregardless if you prefer.
  15. https://www.google.com/amp/s/gazette.com/military/air-force-academy-removes-commandant-of-cadets-amid-investigation/article_7d20dc86-6aae-11e9-83cc-2b0168fe8995.amp.html
  16. Del Rio. Years ago we were told it was to wait for the T-X specs. I guess now they’ll have to come up with a different excuse. Break break—anybody else get the email today about the ACTF news letter? Pretty laughable IMO.
  17. Ain’t that the truth. I don’t miss those third go August sorties with an international student on his second ride. At least the T-6s got them. The newest plane with a somewhat working AC. Until they botched the second round of sun shades. Then the T-1s are next...
  18. $100k would keep me in, no doubt. I feel like this is just a case of “Oh, the RAND study didn’t tell us what we wanted, so we are just going to pretend like it didn’t happen.” I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again after leaving a UPT base last year, instead of just training 1k pilots to leave in 10 years now we are just training 1.4k pilots to leave.
  19. No doubt it’s a pipe dream. We all know the many problems they are having with retention, so I’m not going to go there. i just think 15 years may get a guy, who is going to leave at 12 at the peak of his aviation experience (experienced IP/EP) but still flying the line, to consider staying. As I said, to bridge the gap until the AF figures out a more permanent solution. I know they would never do that, but it makes me feel better throwing it out there on the off chance somebody that can make a difference actually reads this.
  20. For me, the bonus release this January will determine my future. If it substantially increases (at least 55k/year) or move to the professional pay that was thrown around I would CONSIDER staying. I’m giving the AF one last shot to fix itself. Another thing I think they could do to sweeten the deal would be to offer us an early (15 year) retirement. It could be a win/win, letting us help bridge the gap while the AF figures out it’s experience/numbers problem, and then we can get out with a retirement while not severely hurting our seniority numbers (since most of us are around 12 years once our UPT ADSC is up). But I figure that’s a good deal so we will never get it.
  21. I'm beginning to wonder if the decision to eventually enact stop loss hasn't already been made. Could be the reason why retention hasn't been a focus, because they know deep down they will retain us anyway. This way they save some money regardless of what it will do to morale.
  22. Nope, as far as I'm concerned I'm now training 1400 pilots to get out of the AF instead of just 1000. If we don't address retention, do we just expect the 1400 new pilots to just forget about all these issues? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills sometimes.
  23. Looks like this may be a non-rated board, are you considering rated guys as well?
