  1. Uhoh... https://www.technologyreview.com/s/603381/ai-software-learns-to-make-ai-software/ Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  2. Welcome to the internet. Anything posted online is there forever... What's the worst big blue can do? Issue a takedown notice? Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  3. AR was a T-X requirement, not an additional capability Boeing added. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  4. Who will be your formation leads and MCs for large package airdrop (C-17/C-130)? Not really something the 11S or 11R communities really do, and not something you could soon people up quickly to do. Even if they could fill in for 11Ms, who will backfill 11R/11S? Also, AMC has been supplying lots of extra bodies for rated staff billets and the white jet bills-who will fill those if the 11Ms punch? When I left T-6 nation, my sq had more C-17 pilots than FAIPs... Not like any other community has an excess capacity like AMC had, but now AMC bleeding out as guys take their international widebody aircraft experience out to the civilian market. 5. Sooooo... Any rumors on this year's bonus or when it'll be released? Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  6. Nah, we're the greatest military to have ever existed. There's nothing we can't do. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  7. Just finishing up ACSC-DL, and it's been somewhat interesting. Probably would be more interesting if I had more time to delve deeper into the material. But it does make me scratch my head and wonder why we do the things the way we do, especially when what is taught in PME seems to be 180 out from what is practiced. 8. Meaningful deployments that actually matter. The stupid PowerPoint builder deployments need to go, but they aren't the only ones. Even stupid flying deployments need to go. You can only move the same pallet of literal garbage, or the same vehicles back and forth, before you start to wonder why you're there away from home. How about also admitting that a 365 is actually a remote (i.e. PCS), and not an ITDY? Yeah, I may have volunteered for the military and the deployments associated with it. But if you take away the meaning from the work, and don't increase pay to compete with the civilian sector (that generally doesn't need that meaning or sense of patriotism), well, don't be surprised when people don't volunteer to stay any longer. Maybe getting into wars with no realistic and achievable end goal is also strategically stupid to the overall health of the military, and a huge drain on national resources. 9. Or did they just split them into 2x 179s that can't be 3-day opted? That's not really solving the problem Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  10. The army is rated higher. The army does 1 year deployments. Therefore, the air force would improve if we did 1 year deployments. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  11. I think you're right, can't turn down a 179 if it's tasked before you have a separation date. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  12. Any word/rumors on the leather jacket and 2 piece flight suit? Love the 2 piece, but it's cold out... Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  13. Upon more research, I was wrong. Sorry for spreading bad gouge. I was passed over as a captain, so my research was through that lens, and for which continuation looks different. https://dopma-ropma.rand.org/selective-continuation.html Sent from my SM-T700 using Tapatalk
  14. There is no selecting how long your continuation is for, just continued or not. There is a max tenure for a rank that you can be continued to. But there is no commitment by you or the AF. The AF could decide to non continue you at any point before sanctuary (ref the 150ish continued majors who had the rug pulled out from under them in 2012). You can decide to separate/retire before high year tenure, barring any ADSCs you agree to. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  15. Quality wasn't where it should've been. The heritage patch looked off, and it just felt flimsy. I'd recommend getting a sample first before a full buy. It was a new product for them when my last sq ordered them, so hopefully they've improved their visor covers over the last couple years to match the quality of their other items. Customer service was great through, were able to return the visor covers for a refund. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  16. DOPMA would takes precedence. But I think HYT for O-4 is 24 years. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk
  17. Got my briefing sticks a couple years ago at aviatorgear, pretty happy with them. Did great with customizing decals. Ramaworld does patches, bag take, scarves, etc. Also happy with their stuff, minus their visor covers Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  18. High G on a mechanical watch can make it worse at keeping time, since the springs and the other internals can stretch. But yeah, a mechanical watch on its best day won't keep time better than a quartz watch Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  19. Flew with my c-17 bremont in the T-6. Probably lost about 5-10 seconds a day, which was worse than before flying as a UPT IP. Good enough for upt. Quartz is going to be more accurate, and probably easier to read at night. But the Bremont is cooler than the Timex/G-shock... Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  20. Both of those are good, based on my passed over counseling. "One more..." being better than "definitely promote". Also need a job, school, and staff push as well. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  21. Then again, that feedback may just consist of what the commander knows, i.e. the path that worked for them Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  22. AT-6 is like 33% bigger. Bigger prop, bigger wings, etc. I think this rfp is a retrofit on the existing fleet Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  23. Sounds like IFF with T-6s... Sent from my SM-T700 using Tapatalk
  24. Hopefully they bump up what the offer to 11Ms, up to the $35k they are authorized to, instead of the $30k they offered last year. It'll be interesting to see what they end up offering, but I'm not holding my breath for info anytime soon. Also curious about the rumored professional pay, and how talking the bonus this year would affect flight pay/professional pay if they change it in the future. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
  25. Aren't the HPOs picked pretty much by the time they are senior captains? Seems like if you aren't identified as being on that path, well, awards and strats don't mean really anything at the FGO level. The AF becomes a little more fun once you've gotten passed over and realize you don't have to play the game any more. Freedom to pursue what you find rewarding/meaningful, especially now when rated manning is in such bad shape. Sent from my SM-N920V using Tapatalk
