This thread is a great reminder of some words I received from a rather wealthy dude many moons ago. I don't have near enough time, money or energy to get my preferred candidates into office. So I prefer to spend my time, money and energy in figuring out how to legally pay as little tax as possible. How I do that may change from administration to administration, but there is always a way. It appears to be working for him and he's one of the happiest people I know lol.

Look at my seniority advancement from when I was at AAL, it looks like you'd retire nearly 1,500 over the next two years. I'm sure covid retirements have skewed that number, but his list was from before the USAir integration, so I'd think that would offset that a bit. Seems like attrition and lower line values could solve most of that. Furloughs are expensive, must be something big/long term that is spooking them.

Ya, he has an inability to pass up the bait and loves to step on his crank...his ego just won't allow it. It's not a stretch to think immigrants eat pets...plenty of other cultures eat animals we call pets. But that's just a weird things to bring up. The whole thing was clearly biased toward Harris, which is totally jacked. Neither are fit for the office. I'm going to hate hearing her voice for 4 years.

I remember when a hot pit location we'd had for decades, was no longer "safe," because of a technicality and the anti-risk mindset. Until you kill that mindset in leadership, we're going to suck at ACE. Remember when the CSAF said if I reg doesn't make sense, don't follow it (but work to get it changed)....how many people actually followed through with it? I'm sure some did, but I'd wager it's a very small percentage.

A few years ago, we (F-16) had a cable break during a barrier cert of a new cable. He was on speed and best we could tell is the hook skipped and the hit the cable with the tip of the shoe. Did some damage to the ventrals. Shit happens.

A few of my classmates from Sheppard (circa 2008), waited over 400 days just to start IFF. Some got over 150 hours of 38 time during their time on BIT. This was back when the Eagle broke apart, vipers had the bulkhead crack issues and I think thr Hawg was having wing issues. Some dudes gave up their fighter and went heavies as they didn't want to sit around again...many had sat around for a year or so to Stat pilot training. Sounds like history is repeating itself. Plug one hole, another leak springs.

Yes sir. And be called up when there is a legit shooting match worth fighting. Not this continuous game of whack-a-mole/nation building that we played for two decades with no discernable objective. Switching between those planes would have been mostly cake, especially piston to piston or jet to jet. Their systems we're mostly the same, even in the 100 series days and were fairly basic. If you can fine a 30 wire in a P-51, you can find it in an F-84. I've talked with a few guys who flew P-47s up through F-105s. The earlier transitions we're often nothing more than reading a manual and a cockpit checkout...goodluck! Today...not so much. I always said that if my unit had transitioned to the F-35, I would have rode the Viper out until the last one left the ramp, then retired. No desire to learn another military jet at that age/time in my career. -

I mean, 5 years in prison for child porn (if he survives) or no prison and probably all the access to the sick shit he wants. Seems like a no-brainer for this guy. Hopefully he thinks twice about every phone call or car start lol.

I later talked to both of the only two (2) pilots eligible in our squadron, both had their recouped. Par for the course and not surprising in the least. Glad to be retired! Best of luck. -

I mean, I won't lie, I wouldn't mind this if it helped catch the asshole I saw the other day that drove off after causing a crash because they were weaving in and out of traffic and ran someone off the road. BUT....I understand slippery slopes and all. Ya, unless you live out in sticks, you're probably on some camera anytime you're outside of the house (and even sometimes inside), even in your back yard. Look at how many incidents have been witnessed thanks to ring cameras (SWA low in Chicago, NFL players parents house explosion, etc...). They already canvas the neighborhood for these videos, but I'm not sure I like the idea of them just tapping into them all without approval. I have no doubt it will play out as a "do it for the children" or "if it saves one life," type of argument.

Q-3s in the MAF world seem to be way more prevalent than the CAF. Now retired and the only Q-3 that I can ever remember was from a roommate on his form-8 ride in the B-Course. It was a pretty buffonerous event and I think he got his CAF callsign from that ride. He later became a patch so it didn't hurt him too much. I will say, I don't remember ever seeing a pilot wear his wedding ring while flying. We even had a few pilots lose their rings after removing them for flights...likely story.

Listen, in my defense, the flight attendants poured them strong and often on that flight. But in all seriousness, like so many urban legends, I bet this story is 0.69% true. There are two reasons we're not allowed to drink on a DH anymore. One is they want the have the ability to reroute you into a flying leg (not legal per our PWA anymore) and they want to save money. Everything else is bullshit.

Not for now, no beards or goatee, including the FAA. I think it's a ridiculous, but their toys, their rules.

This is what the beard pushers tell themselves to feel better during their beard club circle jerks. I'm not actually for/against them, I just think the whining about not being able to have them is a bit over the top, second only to the arm tat people. I do think it's only a matter of time until they're approved. It is quite interesting that all the civil war generals, many West Point grads, sported beards. Yet the service academy has since shunned them. But more to your point, based on the handful of cargo guys who've showed up with beards looking for a ride, maybe 1 of them had a decent beard. However, most of them looked like shit.
