  1. I love me some zero comms. Exit the traffic pattern and turn the radio off. Radio batteries die during my run up...no problem, do a clearing turn and blast. Best type of flying there is!
  2. Ah ok, you had be confused with the "part-time" in there. My brain doesn't think part time for a guy on a year of orders, but it makes sense now. There was a rumor a few years ago about a true part time (not on orders) bonus. Never believed it would happen but you had me thinking I missed the boat on that. Ya the 15k bonus has been floating around and we have at least one guy on that with alert orders or maybe MPA days we get to train our AD wingmen.
  3. Still? I guess I'm confused...are you saying the ANG has a bonus for just being a part timer/DSG? As in, I just do UTAs/AFTPs and I get a bonus? If we've already had this, then I'm gonna be pretty pissed that I missed out on this.
  4. Ya man, my bad, I totally misjudged where this thread was headed... You said drunk, I apparently heard "when you're high." 🤣 I'll assess myself appropriately. Ok a serious addition. This song is pretty much my story. Man did I dodge a bullet with that chick! https://youtu.be/9cweBs-tdaA
  5. Well, you're already automatically assumed to be a sexual predator in waiting, what's another name to the list? CMSAF Wokeness: Hmmm, lots of people are not going along with our narrative. Exec: Ya, lots of people are countering our claims, maybe it's us? CMSAF Wokeness: LOL of course not...it's definitely not us. Time to double down!
  6. I've long since adopted the attitude of just not giving a shit about being forced to attend this type of training, which has done wonders for my stress levels. If they want to pay me $750 to spend a day sitting through this crap, and not working on my flying abilities, then so be it. However, they only get me four or five days/month, and they just burned one on some bullshit. Now I'm down to three or four days to get my six sorties. If I make RAP, cool, if not, well I just don't care...because clearly they don't.
  7. Shit happens, it'll buff out.
  8. I was deployed to a tax free zone, but all of the contributions happened before I was even on those orders (poor planning on my part), so that shouldn't be it. On top of that, TSP only contributed $19,500 into my TSP, and they say that's all they ever received from DFAS. That's good to hear, but it didn't in my case. I guess my trend of being a finance lightning rod continues to haunt me. To old for BRS, but nowhere near 50. That refund form is for when you've actually contributed over $19,500 between multiple 402g type plans (TSP/401k/etc). As in, if I had contributed to $15,000 to my Delta 401k then accidentally let $10,000 into my TSP, and I needed to cut it back to be $19,500 between the two. In this situation I never contributed to my Delta 401k and TSP only ever received $19,500. However, my pay cards shows $24,455 in YTD contributions and box 12 (AA....Roth 401k Contributions) of my W2 reflects that as well. Maybe I got the B team when I call both DFAS and TSP, but noone seems to know where that money went. Thanks for all the words gents. Going to reattack on tomorrow.
  9. Thread revival. Alright, any you carbon based life forms ever have DFAS take too much money for your TSP? If so, how did you get that money back? I was not aware that TSP would just continue taking money from me even after I hit the $19,500 limit. So they pulled $24,500 before I realized WTF was going on and turned it off. Of course, why wouldn't DFAS just stop at $19,500 like ever other fucking company with a 401k/TSP plan? So anyway, now someone has $5k of my money and noone seems to know who actually has it. Some douche canoe at DFAS says TSP has the excess and I need to request a return through them. TSP says they only received $19,500 and they have no fucking clue where the excess contributions would be. So now I'm at a crossroads....and of course DFAS only works M-F until 1700EST. Called at 1655, and in true finance fashion, fuckers were already gone. Along with fixing my fucked up flight pay, I'm sure the new finance system will unfuck situations like this...I was told it is scheduled to be rolled out Jan of 2021... Alright back to my scotch and get the fuck off my lawn!
  10. The closer you get to your 20, the easier it gets to just go ahead and say those things.
  11. Ya, but are they? Either way, the point is that unless they actually launch them all to go fly missions and turn them to fly more, it's just a really expensive photo op...
  12. Ya, it's a pretty ridiculous way of doing an elephant walk, but elephant walks in general are pretty dumb. I'm sure with a few days notice, our mx force could get every jet on base in a condition to safely taxi, but what does that really do? I'd be much more impressed with all these so called "elephant walks" if they launched all those jet to fly missions then, then turned them to fly 1 or 2 more times that day....and you still had a jets to fly your normal turn pattern the next day. IDK, it's always been a weird flex to me. Word! Hell, even deploying a $40M fighter to do the job of an RPA... Yay having an Army General in charge of the fighters, in a war that should have been shut down over a decade ago.
  13. I know quite a few at my base would be happy if the state would vax prisoners. We have people who have been involuntarily activated to be guards at state prisons because of COVID outbreaks within the prison. I'm not talking our security forces, just random people on base. My understanding is that somehow, they're not entitled to per diem for these orders either. So they've got that going for them...
  14. Reminds me of when I log a pay card, just to log pay cards. What used to take less than a minute, has turned into a 15-20 minutes minimum, IF the network is running good. It was bad enough at one point that one of our pilots wouldn't start his debrief until he successfully logged his pay card. Either way, he left work at the same time.
  15. Learned all of those when I was in my enlisted tech school back in the day. Our instructor recommended we do the fishing line trick, because apparently 50 lbs of starch wasn't professional looking enough. I do think the summer weight BDUs looked the best of all the uniforms they've had since I've been in. They were super comfortable too. Never wore ABUs, but the ACUs are comfortable, but look like shit. 5 Goofiest Things Troops did to BDUs. 17 days at AUAB for ROM and I never put on a reflective belt. It's the small victories these days... 😁
  16. The same guys who ironed fishing line into their BDU sleeves, cut off buttons to sew down their pockets and put weights in their bloused pants are the likely the same people now writing the AFI. Goodluck!
  17. Funny you mention that. As I'm reading this thread, I'm thinking to myself, slap a GNS430W into an original T-6 Texan and it would be a MUCH better platform to make good pilots than the Texan II. I had Mustang pilot tell me you needed about 50 hours in a Mustang before you flew the T-6. Controllable pitch prop, it does nothing for you, so you have to stay on your toes and it's will make you a heck of a stick and rudder pilot (T/O & Landing) in the process. But ya, a Super D would do...cheaper, just less cool. 😎 Same reason they can't pay me the correct flight pay, and haven't been able to since 2017 or 2018 (but don't worry, the fix will roll out Jan 2020). You can slap a WAAS capable GNS430 in to a beat-up old 172 and fly it down to 200 feet in every "burg & ville" in the U.S., and the AF can't even get their primary trainer to do it.
  18. This just circles back to the Wills, "win one for the gipper," FB post. Not hard to spot when you're being given the "you're not going to like this" speech....seen it plenty of times now. Dude would have gotten more respect if he'd have just said, sorry gents (can you still say that), you're not going to like the bonus, but we're stuck with what congress is giving us because they think the problem is fixed. Word! Mongo just pawn in game of life! BTW, your post just made me think of the defensive egg post. Talk about a flashback!
  19. Ah yes, the time honored, tried & true leadership method of one guys shits their pants and everyone wears diapers. A fan favorite amongst the AF...always has a positive impact!
  20. Nah man, during his speach about how you shouldn't do this for the money, the good general let us know the airlines aren't recovering any time soon. In unrelated news, anyone seen any them bonuses around here?
  21. When you have to redesign your MQT syllabus so much that it looks like a mini B-Course...
  22. How dare you say that about the "victim!" You're clearly a misogynist, victim-blamer and everything that is wrong with our military today! Innocent until proven guilty is an old-fashioned way of thinking!
