  1. Jarhead...did they say what exactly is the "budget/funding issue?" As a pilot I get 48 UTAs and 48 AFTPs a year. I fail to see how burning my December UTA costs any different if I burn it on drill weekend or a month later. I don't necessarily use my UTAs on drill weekend. Also, are you guys Reserve or ANG?
  2. This is what I get when I click on this thread. No problems with any other thread. Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 214338 bytes) in/home/flyingsq/public_html/forums/admin/sources/classes/output/formats/html/htmlOutput.php on line 575 Edit: May just be my computer. When I try to go to facebook it tries to load like 5 times and then says not available.
  3. That doesn't make any sense...what does funding have to do with it. It should cost the same whether you accomplish it now or later. I've never heard of such a thing. I treat my UTA days just like my AFTPs. I've never even considered the idea that I can't use my UTA pay days whenever I wish.
  4. I think he's saying there is no need to go to a FSDO to get your ATP. A ride with the FAA is free, but most prefer to do their flight with a DPE. Spend the money and knock it out now. It's not going to get cheaper and it's not going to get any easier.
  5. Ha, that cat has been out of bag for years...as evidenced by the high amount of AD guys rushing the squadron wanting an AGR job. I know all too well things are changing, but is this a Reserve thing? I have yet to hear any rumblings about needing a masters or in-residence (unless you want to go places...stars). My post should have just said no in-residence at all. I think the last guy we sent in-res was in 2004 and that's because he wanted the orders, and he did not do SOS in correspondence prior to going. If they want the full timers to get a masters they had better start providing some Tuition Assistance. You can forget it as far as part timers are concerned.
  6. As Danny said, you pick AGR. Just add....not move if you don't want, no non-voluntary 365s, heck no non-vul deployments (unless they start activating us), no masters requirement, no in-correspondence prior to in-residence, etc...
  7. UFB! It's no wonder we can't roll out a new jet in a reasonable amount of time!
  8. I wondered the same thing. I just assumed it was the helo version of a SOF. Or being in a Fighter Squadron with a deployed OG/CC who is an ABM! So after reading this, I thought how could I educate these people on what a real AFB sounds like. At first, I thought I could drop into FE Warren and beat up the pattern before I land for a gas and go.* Nothing says wake up like 29,000 lbs of thrust on a cold day. To be honest I had to Google where these bases were located. Malmstrom is right the fuck out thanks to some things that transpired on an airline trip a few years ago. Long story, but there is a lady of questionable morals (and looks) that may have a little SocialD running around. But anyway, after some careful research, turns out not every Air Force base has a runway...who knew?!?!? *If they ever turn on X/C flying again.
  9. And a part timer! *Or full time on mil leave...still a cool story.
  10. You can't expect the TSA to know their own rules can you?!?! Just like when they try to tell me I can't carry on my LPU, the look on their faces when you tell them that you can and to look it up in THEIR reg, is priceless. Usually they just give in and let you through.
  11. Ugh, obviously YOU'RE part of the problem! Go sing your rape songs and drink with your mermaid mugs elsewhere! [/sarcasm]
  12. They don't make the F-16J. My union refrence was toward MX, which is mostly technician (ie..union). They pretty much dictate the flying schedule. We can fly all we want as long as they get their union breaks, their lunch and are out of work on time. Land late...sorry not getting those jets the next am!
  13. I am Guard, and get to deal with the union often. The union allows many to forget that the jets on the ramp are the reason they have a job... https://www.wbir.com/story/news/local/east-knoxville/2013/12/16/developing-road-rage-leads-to-shooting-of-motorcyclist/4044821/ Another car vs. motorcycle road rage story. But the WTF is the on scene reporter!
  14. Now add a union to the military...that shits just fucked up!
  15. https://www.foxnews.com/us/2013/12/10/colorado-boy-6-suspended-accused-sexual-harassment-for-kissing-girl-on-cheek-148424908/ We've gone full retard! This school must have some former AF leadership.
  16. This really causes people emotional distress? Who are these pussies? No wonder we're fucked! Standing by for Liquid to defend them.
  17. The technician work force has a union and I think they've been on a pay freeze for a few years now. Or were for a few year period in the last 3-4 years.
  18. Is Egg a chick? If so, then I would say she has it pretty damn good.
  19. Not true. If you take leave, sure you get all your normal pay (which you would be getting anyway), you just don't have to show to work. But if he's satisfied with his time off and he sells leave, he will make more $$$ (at base pay only) ON TOP of his normal pay. Strictly speaking in $$$, it's a net gain. I won't even get into the value of time off here. I should caveat this with, I use all of my leave as I enjoy the time off. Last I knew, you could sell back a max of 60 days in a career (unless you're Guard/Reserve). Swing by finance and they will explain it all to you. You should be able to sell it anytime you want.
  20. It's a damn good seat. Ejecting at 569kts or in an out of control aircraft is going to be a pretty dangerous proposition no matter what seat. But I agree that we shouldn't just call it good enough. Hopefully we dump the HMCS and pick up the HMIT (Scorpion), I believe that will help out the ejection issue, not to mention it's a way better helmet. However, I would have rather had them spend money to get auto-GCAS developed and in the jets much quicker. That would have saved way more lives!
  21. Haha, well played! Actually, both my WG/CC and OG/CC are airline pilots (on mil leave). I just like to be able to access my flight records at home...makes things much easier for me. There is plenty of airline talk in my squadron, to include all of our EPs (on just got hired at Delta, all of the other have their apps in). Good luck trying to give a ground eval because we're talking airlines...you'll probably get laughed out of the room.
  22. Done...it's already in the -1. Ejecting above 450kts with the HMCS could mean bad things for your neck/life. Hell, not routing the Upper HVI properly could cause severe neck injury. Also, briefed to knock off the NVGs before you punch.
  23. Guess I should add what I think has improved. Aside from various updates to the jet...I can more easily access my flight records at home (via the portal), which makes it easier to update my airline apps.
  24. Agreed! I've been in over 12 years and only switched to DTS in late 2011. Not once did I ever have a problem with my orders/tickets/reservations, until I started using DTS. I carried a travel voucher on the trip and logged shit as I went. When I got home, I just dropped it off at finance and was always paid pretty fast. Since I've started using DTS, more often than not something is fucked up. Hell, a few weeks ago I ended up with no airline ticket there or home (ended up non-revving out since i had no time to contact SATO), and my rental car had 3 different reservations. My authorization wasn't approved until a week after my TDY (I created it about 1.5 weeks prior). When we had the Debit card, I got so accustom to not having funds loaded that I just left my per diem on my card so I knew I could always get tickets/ hotels. There is a special place in hell for whoever thought up DTS (right beside the creator of JMPS)!
  25. What the fuck ever. WE caused it? How about our current leaderships generation? They clearly did so much to stop this "culture" when they were mid level Captains/Majors. But sure, WE pissed it away... It's those damn fighter pilots and their rape songs! That and their mermaid handled mugs just drive them to rape and sexual assault.
