Expedited TSA Screening for Active Duty Military Effective 20 Dec
You can't expect the TSA to know their own rules can you?!?! Just like when they try to tell me I can't carry on my LPU, the look on their faces when you tell them that you can and to look it up in THEIR reg, is priceless. Usually they just give in and let you through.

WTF? (**NSFW**)
They don't make the F-16J. My union refrence was toward MX, which is mostly technician (ie..union). They pretty much dictate the flying schedule. We can fly all we want as long as they get their union breaks, their lunch and are out of work on time. Land late...sorry not getting those jets the next am!

WTF? (**NSFW**)
I am Guard, and get to deal with the union often. The union allows many to forget that the jets on the ramp are the reason they have a job... https://www.wbir.com/story/news/local/east-knoxville/2013/12/16/developing-road-rage-leads-to-shooting-of-motorcyclist/4044821/ Another car vs. motorcycle road rage story. But the WTF is the on scene reporter!

Military retirement under attack
The technician work force has a union and I think they've been on a pay freeze for a few years now. Or were for a few year period in the last 3-4 years.

Selling leave
Not true. If you take leave, sure you get all your normal pay (which you would be getting anyway), you just don't have to show to work. But if he's satisfied with his time off and he sells leave, he will make more $$$ (at base pay only) ON TOP of his normal pay. Strictly speaking in $$$, it's a net gain. I won't even get into the value of time off here. I should caveat this with, I use all of my leave as I enjoy the time off. Last I knew, you could sell back a max of 60 days in a career (unless you're Guard/Reserve). Swing by finance and they will explain it all to you. You should be able to sell it anytime you want.

Aviano F-16 pilot KIA
It's a damn good seat. Ejecting at 569kts or in an out of control aircraft is going to be a pretty dangerous proposition no matter what seat. But I agree that we shouldn't just call it good enough. Hopefully we dump the HMCS and pick up the HMIT (Scorpion), I believe that will help out the ejection issue, not to mention it's a way better helmet. However, I would have rather had them spend money to get auto-GCAS developed and in the jets much quicker. That would have saved way more lives!

What has 'improved' in the AF?
Haha, well played! Actually, both my WG/CC and OG/CC are airline pilots (on mil leave). I just like to be able to access my flight records at home...makes things much easier for me. There is plenty of airline talk in my squadron, to include all of our EPs (on just got hired at Delta, all of the other have their apps in). Good luck trying to give a ground eval because we're talking airlines...you'll probably get laughed out of the room.

Done...it's already in the -1. Ejecting above 450kts with the HMCS could mean bad things for your neck/life. Hell, not routing the Upper HVI properly could cause severe neck injury. Also, briefed to knock off the NVGs before you punch.

What has 'improved' in the AF?
Guess I should add what I think has improved. Aside from various updates to the jet...I can more easily access my flight records at home (via the portal), which makes it easier to update my airline apps.

What has 'improved' in the AF?
Agreed! I've been in over 12 years and only switched to DTS in late 2011. Not once did I ever have a problem with my orders/tickets/reservations, until I started using DTS. I carried a travel voucher on the trip and logged shit as I went. When I got home, I just dropped it off at finance and was always paid pretty fast. Since I've started using DTS, more often than not something is fucked up. Hell, a few weeks ago I ended up with no airline ticket there or home (ended up non-revving out since i had no time to contact SATO), and my rental car had 3 different reservations. My authorization wasn't approved until a week after my TDY (I created it about 1.5 weeks prior). When we had the Debit card, I got so accustom to not having funds loaded that I just left my per diem on my card so I knew I could always get tickets/ hotels. There is a special place in hell for whoever thought up DTS (right beside the creator of JMPS)!

What the fuck ever. WE caused it? How about our current leaderships generation? They clearly did so much to stop this "culture" when they were mid level Captains/Majors. But sure, WE pissed it away... It's those damn fighter pilots and their rape songs! That and their mermaid handled mugs just drive them to rape and sexual assault.

Is the KC-10 going to be cut?
No arguments here. I guess I should throw out my list. F-35 C-21 RQ-4 B-1 KC-10 The Guard wishes this were the case. I couldn't agree more. You save money in many different avenues. Lets use the Viper for example, the following (plus much more, I'm sure) would be cut. The fleet obviously, Depot MX, SPO, Paint facilities, Test (ET/OT), AATC, Regional support centers, personnel, training, Simulator facilities (at least 5), logistical supply chain, etc... you get the point. There is so much more than just the jets themselves.

Where do you think most of the Guard budget comes from? I'll give you a hint, it's not the state...and the AD still owns the iron. We are flat broke and something has to be done. I tend to agree that cutting an airframe completely gives you the best savings. Cutting various airframes here and there just drive up the operating costs. What airframes would you chop?

Sad that the Guard has come to this...
I would say it varies wildly depending on your leadership. When I first enlisted we did 30 day AEF's with a swapout at the 15 day point. Then it went to 30 no swap, then 45, now 60, the next is supposed to be 3-4 months no swap, with rumors of 6 months. If 6 month deployments happen, we will start to see a huge retention problems, which has generally never been a problem. Heck, at one point we had a 1 year waiting list to enlist. We've gone from OPRs being another pain to accomplish to them now being scrutinized heavily. No one knew WTF an ODP was until this year. We are being briefed that if you want O-6, the criteria has changed big time. Need to hit 3 of 5 criteria (masters, joint command, In-residence PME, staff, can't remember the last one). I know one particular squadron who "highly encourages" getting a masters (their state pays for their masters, most do not). Medals have suddenly become a thing. Some states don't allow alcohol on base, no friday shirts, "morale" patch police. Also, coming to an ANG Wing near you...active duty WG/CC! Not a dude getting out of the AD to GO GUARD, but an AD O-6 doing a 2-3 year tour then moving on to his next AD assignment. This could be huge, I will be watching to see how it pans out. Overall, I we still have it pretty damn good, stories from bros and the endless stream of AD guys rushing our squadron are always a good reality check. Times are changing for sure, some good, some really bad.

What's wrong with the Air Force?
Did you not do MSN checks? I can't think of anyone better to do MSN checks, but our patches don't downgrade for BS shit. Then again, inst/mission checks are really just another flight for most.
