So I want to order direct from Glock but their paperwork requires a copy of a military ID. I'm fairly certain that this is NOT one of the exceptions to the rule, that we can't make copies of our ID. Has anyone dealt with this? Just want to make sure before I talk with Glock directly about this. Edit: did a search and this was already discussed. Or my last weekend...

One of them was just worried about selling to someone who isn't legally allowed to own a gun, I guess. I think it's so they will sleep better at night, to be honest. I don't worry about it because I don't sell my guns...just buy more! And it just got a whole lot of gay up in here! Must talk guns...Considering picking up my first Glock soon. Have never been a fan, but I do like the looks of the compact gen4. Thinking of the 32, have wanted a .357 sig for a while.

I know many people who have done this. It's just a way to CYA and you charge the buyer the 20 bucks for the transfer.

Depends on your status. There is a breakdown on the Glock site on who is eligible. If you're retired then yes. Not sure about if you got out and are no longer on IRR. You could probably sell it online for what you paid, maybe more. Then go buy on at the mil price, if eligible.

FFLs are generally easy to find and you should be able to get a transfer for <25-30 bucks. If you check out the link I posted above, you can see the MIL/LEO discounted prices. I'm not sure which Glock you picked up but you can get a Glock 23 Gen 4 (.40 S&W) for $399. Go to Glocks website and in the upper right hang quarter there is a find dealer by zip code container. Once that pops up, click on the LE dealers tap to find a place close to you. Not all Glock dealers can offer the MIL/LEO discount. Find a local FFL here. https://www.gunbroker.com/FFL/DealerNetwork.aspx

https://www.vancesle.com/category.cfm/CurrentPage/1/le/firearms/brand/ALL I'm sure there are more around but here is a website I stumbled upon, that has a separate website for LEO/MIL prices. Of course, every gun I want has been "temporarily out of stock" for a while. Hopefully the idiots will stop buying up everything known to man soon, so we can get back to collecting/shooting our guns.
  8. Talk about hyperbole! You said, no one cares about this, when clearly they do. I'm not arguing that it's destroying mission effectiveness.

    You and me both!
  10. I think he's referring to the fact that flying an airliner is relatively easy work (it is). Also, when you're home, you don't even think about work, I know I don't. I don't know anyone that is gone 15 days/month (that doesn't want to be). Most of our guys bid reserve and sit on the porch while "working," rarely getting called. We have quite a few part timers that are contractors or some sort of businessmen. Most of them are on the road quite a bit, they all seem to have platinum status... Also, when they're on a TDY, as soon as we get done with work, they're in their hotel room on the computer working their other job. A few of them have apps in at the airlines. If you've found a job paying 150+ (in a place that doesn't have a ridiculous cost of living), that keeps you home every night, then more power to you. I'm not going to say the airlines are the end all, be all. I will always keep an ear to the ground for good gigs (outside of flying) out there. Just pointing out some observations I have seen in my little corner of the world. Just give him your cash and he will get you first in line!!!
  11. Ya, the AF cares so little that they created a website, and a reg. Have you looked around? https://www.af.mil/diversity.asp Ya, because a careerist would ever tell someone to go study anything related to their real job...fllying. They're more likely to tell them to read stupid ass regs like this!
  12. Had a college friend get hired by United last week. My current airline has recently lost a few to US Air as well. But you're right, I highly doubt anyone is making 97k their first year...Maybe year two. All bets are off for the FedEx guys...year two is ridiculous. Edit: totally missed your latest reply. All of our guys hired in the last wave, got the 75/76 right out of training. FWIW...I was in a Delta jumpseat a week ago, and from the Captain (who had recently attended training) The latest numbers from Delta were 60/month for the first 6 months of 2014, then 20/month. Take that with a grain of salt.
  13. If someone lets their fear of failing UPT keep them from trying, it probably wasn't for them anyway.
  14. Spoo...did you eat paint chips as a kid? More WTF!
  15. No, it's 59 easy payments and 1 really fucking hard one (STS).
  16. Well we have to be "more fair" to certain groups, if not, that would be discrimination...
  17. Not even for fini flights! When you're on state property, you play by state rules. I know of at least 3 states with the same rule. It also doesn't help when the Army is part of your chain of command.
  18. STS... I thought it was rather well played.
  19. Welcome to the party! We "gun nuts," hate to have to defend our right to own guns every time some shit head commits a crime with one, as well.
  20. Been here for more than a year. Also, no alcohol on base, no Friday shirts and no Friday or morale patches.
  21. So this is THE first BMC letter.

Ya buddy...wasn't fast enough! I really didn't NEED them so no loss. I just hope we'll be able to buy ammo soon. Heck, I'll settle for just being able to find the gun I want, in stock (at a reasonable price)! Prior to Newtown, I had a list of 4 guns I was preparing to buy, but was holding off until I funded accessories for the guns I already had. So far, I have only found one of them in stock! I'm hoping by the end of the year, things will be back to somewhat normal levels.

Went to place an order for 10, was told only 2 were available. Hit place order...sorry, sold out! Shit's still going quick. Copy all on the safe. I figured as much as far as the home security. Just looking to protect from fire and you every day B&E. If someone wants them bad enough, they'll find away.

Any safe recommendations? From my limited research, it seems Liberty, Patroit and American Security all seem popular. I'm thinking I'll be in the market for a 50-64 gun, safe. I have had 10+ long guns (multiple scopes) and had 10+ handguns and will be buying wish I could buy more. Plus I'd like to have room for ammo random non-gun related stuff/accessories/paperwork/etc... Would like to keep it ~$2k.
  25. Get rid of the thunderbirds...fund an east & west coast demo team instead. Get rid of the "pots" or "colors" of money. Fewer Generals. Unfuck the acquisitions process. We pay 10x as much and get 1/2 to capability...or the shit is already obsolete by the time we get it! Start with JMPS and PEX... Stop changing uniforms every other year. Also, why does everyone get the "OTW" uniforms, now? Last time I deployed, only people who were actually going "outside the wire," received these uniforms... I thought thenideamofmthe ABU was to be world-wide deployable, so we didn't have to issue more uniforms to go to the desert. They have already started fixing this, but the whole ORI process costs so much, it's fucking criminal!
