  1. This is why I loved the fact that my boss for a lot of my career (SQ/CC to OG/CC to WG/CC) married a 1CO from his squadron when he was on AD. There's no top cover like a fellow player of the sport of kings. That said, you got to be smart enough to keep it out of their face so you don't force their hand. Maybe I should write a book for the 2Lt single guys...could save a career lol.
  2. I know they love my 670 cubic inches of radial powah as I loudly fly over their telsa and solar powered homes. I just wish global warming would kick in a bit more. My latitude needs just about 5-10 degrees higher temps in the winter to make it more manageable.
  3. https://www.avweb.com/aviation-news/money-losing-spirit-stops-hiring-flight-crew/ Saw that Spirit stopped hiring, which got me wondering about FDX/UPS. Any of you cargo bros hearing anything about hiring starting up? I had a few friends ask but I haven't kept up with the cargo hiring situation.
  4. IDK man, but that's no bueno! Sounds like they're cash strapped big time, here's hoping they pull through! Shit, they need to pass around a collection hat to the Vans AF to keep it afloat.
  5. This! Someone should get ahold of the most gruesome of pictures/videos from Israel, I'm talking headless grandma's, burned children, grenades exploding in shelters full of innocent civilians, girls being raped by the Hamas militants and run them on a loop on a mobile billboard. Then drive them around college campuses with pictures of signatories interlaced in the loop saying these people support the people who did this. If you support them so much, own it.
  6. And quite a few Alaska pilots got to move up a number.
  7. I mean, I'd be pretty pissed if I had a daily commute of 1.5 hours on the front/back end of work. I'd be equally as pissed if I had to work a 9-5 office job. It's one of the reasons I disliked being full time in the military, though ours was 0645-1730 (4 days/week). Groundhog day every day, to the same dingy building built in the early 50s as a fallout shelter (painted cinder block walls and no windows). In the winter it's drive to work in the dark and drive home in the dark. I genuinely disliked the repetitive nature of the work, even if the flying was a nice break from my office duties. This is one of the big reasons I've been a part timer nearly my entire career. Rona has really reshaped people's view on work/life balance. For some it's all they know now and going back to work in office is a shock. Many are opting to move along than go back to the office, and there are remote jobs for the taking if you have the skills. I know my gf will never go back...her job has already tried. They keep granting her "waivers" because she valuable (as SME in her field) and they know she isn't bluffing. Going into the office isn't an option because her employer is located 3 hours away. Of course this is her second career and not starting out like this broad. Anyway, all her friends are probably remote and living it up (according to their SM accounts anyway...another big issue) while she slogs it out with the rest of the suckers. I also don't envy the shitty economics situation (pay vs cost of living today) many of these kids find themselves in, especially anyone who works in the city. That said, after she finishes her little breakdown, she needs to do something about it, get a new skill, find work closer or get roommates and move into the city. And yes, I get it, all previous generations had to walk up hill, while fighting off manbearpig with one arm and starting a business with the other arm. Before college, I worked a construction job that started work a 0630 and often didn't finish the day until well after sundown. It sucked, I thought to myself this sucks, I was pissed about it, I just didn't have SM to vent about it lol. Of course I also actually did something about it. I wonder what she'll do.
  8. 2k hours in fighters, and the only time I ever circled was on the my I-3, which was the last of 3 Inst rides in the B-Course. Probably still a decent thing to practice, but it certainly doesn't get much use.
  9. From what I've seen, like rushing a Guard squadron, you need to start networking and making friends in that world. They have a system that is supposed to stop nepotism, but... Aside from the link above, this is the governing document. An AOPA article that provides a little more insight.
  10. Probably a jilted FA who saw the pilot that caused all her anguish.
  11. You can take the the General out of the LPA, but you can't the LPA out of the General. *not condoning unwanted acts!
  12. Only thing wrong with this picture is that they'd FB live stream it and tag all their friends. As CH posted above, there are some insanely disturbing stories surfacing every day.
  13. What ever came of the UPS voluntary retirement initiative? Hopefully they got more than enough volunteers to not have to move to further steps.
  14. Story of my career!
  15. It's just too bad that Auburn didn't pull it off over Georgia, that would be have been a nice scrambling of the rankings.
  16. Problem is probably the standard everywhere else, the wrong persons pockets are getting lined and someone doesn't like it.
  17. On the topic of DPE's, good little side gig if you can get it. Not necessarily and easy world to get into, but as it seems like shifting duties to the DPE will be a norm, it seems like it could be a worthwhile endeavor for the airline guy with lots of free time.
  18. What's the big deal, the airport was closed... Remember when things used to be fun?
  19. Competence...arrogance, ignorance, righteousness, etc... It's always amazed me how much the different FSDO's are NOT on the same page on things. FSDO shopping shouldn't be a thing, but it is. As to the original question, many FSDO's just don't have the time/man power so a DPE is just much easier.
  20. Not to mention that there were several times during that "demo" that he appeared raggedy edge of departing the jet (I've never flown an Eagle, just fought them). It looked badass and I loved it...we'd all love to do that, but if you're not a demo pilot, I can't imagine you'd think this would end well for all involved.
  21. Another vote for keeping your own logbook. I bought the blue logbook with silver wings from Sporty's and kept track of my flights since day 1 of UPT. Found a few errors over the years, quite a few during UPT/B-Course, when bouncing it off my line-by-line during the yearly review. Just leave it in the AFE locker and fill it out after every sortie with notes. I brought that, along with my green folder when I went to my interviews.
  22. Mediocre level trolling, you're better than this Chang. Anywho, I was happy to get lost this year, though it had nothing to do with diversity initiatives. My great-great-great grandma was full blooded Shawnee Indian, so I appreciate these initiatives that help my people. On another note, and maybe this is good enough topic for to warrant a separate thread. The Officer corps is getting d-u-m...dum!
  23. For fucks sake, "I lost it in the wx," does not mean he ejected for bad weather...this is the worst reporting I've ever seen. I can't speak for the 35, but the only wx we have onboard is foreflight if your bring a ADS-B puck.
  24. Specific you say? I could probably negotiate away the following; My hometown: Wayne street east of Main st., and all of Patterson street. Current town: pretty much everything downtown, east of the river. My state: Ironton...all of it! United States...San Francisco.
