Acquisitioners (proper term?) have opportunities to deploy because one is my friend. She has deployed for three 180's in seven years and says that's average at her unit. Interesting is that they're so undermanned (reference their bonus) they rear-deploy the people who are medically DQ'd or the like, and think it was in Ohio somewhere...perhaps the nominated General has rear-deployed as short, stateside TDY? Also from that linked report is this snippet. Acquisitions/Contracting wants a big dog in the fight... "Furthermore, the Gansler Report identified a lack of general/flag officers in the acquisition workforce. While this was focused toward the Army, the Air Force is actively building the contracting general officer pool with a five-year plan, which manages high-achieving senior officers. Our Contracting Developmental Team is also identifying and vectoring select company grade and field grade officers for deliberate developmental assignments based on the potential of their records to date. This should result in several officers from the contracting career field being competitive at the general officer selection board."

FYSA...so SOS is currently running a max of 840 students per class for the next few classes. Accoording to an O-6 in the school's leadership will be at 600 per class thereafter. Promises of 100% attendance seem to be fading fast.... reference the math... 3,009 Captain promotions in the 2011C board alone (not including the other promotion boards, Medical Officers, JAG, etc) and 5 SOS classes per year To make things worse they're beta testing some B.S. that the in-residence course will actually have the first 3 weeks as distance learning through the software Blackboard from your home station. The first class of beta-testors will actually be TDY to Montgomery for those first three weeks "interacting" from their lodging. ...yay! BTW - Battleshots was a bad, but fun idea...

Their brewery in Juneau, AK has an awesome tour. Depending on the base you're at and the Class Six's distributor the Class Six will take special orders. AK Brewing is starting to serve more distributors too and is migrating through the Northwest and West Coast. The Nellis Class Six manager hooked me up w/ Alaskan Amber as well as some of their seasonal ales...good stuff.

Good luck and hang onto your seat. You'll see everything only once. The transition courses (PXA/PXB) will leave you wanting more instruction. The J-schoolhouse doesn't have the same over 180 day TDY exemption letter as the Legecy shoolhouse does. No exception letter as of a year ago that I know of, thus it's a PCS.

I did that, but you can't use the weight of the trailer. So you must weight it w/ the trailer empty & car/truck empty, then weight w/ the trailer & car/truck full. If you're paranoid have the scale operator sign off that the trailer is attached and empty, then attached and full. -

Yep. Designer emailed the beta testors the app file. -
So excited to go now 9 Jan after reading the thread - yay. Where are the good hog hunting areas? Hopefully they have rifles/handguns to borrow. I'm thinking NC-style pig pull on the grounds the ole' lodging buildings (aka "crack houses"). Have all the buildings been renovated? Nearly ten people in my ASBC class had a respiratory infection from mold after the first week in those buildings. Who wants to go deep-sea fishing? It'd be a long day of bottom fishing out of the Port of Destin, FL. Bottom fishing is the only thing in season.

Received this e-gem today.......where is your fold? "This, for some reason, has become an issue with the base. This goes for both the Sage and Black cap. 6.2.8.1. Cap will fit snugly over top of head (tight fit). Adjust cap so it may fit squarely on head. Fold edge of cap all the way around, adjust crease so that the folded edge is no more than 3 inches wide. The back of the cap should run across the nape of the neck and the front should rest within ½ inch of the eyebrows. The watch cap should reflect a diagonal line across the ears moving downwards, from front to back. No bunching and no sagging. 6.2.8.2. It will be commercially designed, plain, solid, sage green knit or fleece/micro fiber material. 6.2.8.3. Rank insignia is not worn on the sage green watch cap. I know it says no more than a 3 inch wide fold, and that no fold is “less than” 3 inches; however, it WILL be worn with a fold. Lastly, do not wear one with logos on it. There have been people walking around with the under armour caps with logos showing. Shirt"

AMC is the biggest user of FLIP, with the AETC being second from the NGA briefer. Break, break... There is only one guy working the iPad 2 app. Other versions for different devices (blackberry, whatever, etc) years down the road. I'll scan and post the briefing and it should answer several questions tomorrow. -

I'll post a review of the app after testing it on a few missions. My first request would be to integrate the FCG if DoS wants to play. Ramstein uses the FCG alot being OCONUS based, but can someone say how often CONUS based airlifters use it - especially heavie? -

So I haven't loaded the whole, new FLIP library yet, but will soon. Just got the NGA App installed upon my iPad 2 after updating to iOS 5 (app requirement). (edit: this would've been so much easier with Gallery permissions...) -

Combination of pre-authorized leave, travel days, and proceed time. It gets a little tricky if you're talking about R&R after a 180 or 365 or IPCOT. For that consult JFTR and individual service regulations (AFI TDY travel). Other small things like Post Mission Crew Rest can be factor as well, but that is small potatoes in the grand scheme. Try AFI 65-114 or 65-113, but only after JFTR. -

I'm a Beta testor for the new NGA FLIP app and will post a few screen shots and such after figuring it all out. Downloading and installing everything in the next few days Discovered that iOS 5.x or greater is mandatory upon first installation attempt. -
An easy analyzation would be to compare the new SOS in-res class size multiply by classes per year then compare that number to the yearly Captain promotion list quantity. However, don't stop there - w.a.g. the backlog of those Captains who haven't been and add that to the promotion quantity until the backlog is depleted. Now compare. Is it sustainable? My guess is no and in that case what could they use as a comparison basis to allocate the scarce slots? SOS via correspondence.

LOL. Straight from the man himself.

Another step closer to becoming droids ourselves, so much for diversity...guess that comes in different programming. edit: sweet picture interweb link fixed

Wonder if they'll have the new syllabus worked out or if they'll be like previous, in-transition, test-less classes? Either way...eight weeks of something.

Heard the same thing from the AMC iPad conference...except the iPads will be significantly locked down (aka no WiFi or non-approved Apps). No mention of Jepp Apps - though definitely needed. We use Jepp's when away from ETAR all the time. So remove the functionality of an iPad and put just e-Pubs, FLIP, and maybe Jepp's ... Big Blue/AMC mothership will screw this up somehow. The Comm SQ is going to love Apple products on their network...not.

That was filled one year ago by a friend of mine. ...TDY to nearest USAF H.A.W.C. for PT tests...go figure.

FAIL. To fight the Finance shoes your midichlorian count (aka AFI, JFTR, and DoD FMR knowledge) must be higher than theirs.
