Meant masters...but yeah that won't go either.

I'll be honest, my morale would be increased so much more by eliminating the queepy bullshit we have to do (check in the box PME, ect) rather than the token gesture of running shoes and some velcro backed cloth. I see this as the easy thing to do for a quick artificial boost in our morale. Meanwhile no one is stepping up and dealing with the serious shit.

Expedited TSA Screening for Active Duty Military Effective 20 Dec
contraildash replied to a topic in Squadron Bar
Wish I had this a couple weeks ago going through OAK, the security line in the Southwest terminal wrapped back around the baggage carousels. It took over an hour to get through. There was only one regular check line open, while there were two precheck lines open. Couldn't figure that one out....oh yeah...it's TSA. -

FY 14 Force Management Program (RIF, VSP, TERA)
contraildash replied to AOF_ATC's topic in General Discussion
When they look at AFSCs to RIF, do they break it down further than just the 11M or 11S? Do they consider what you actually fly and the manning state of that community or is this just a broad stroke against all 11M/S/Whatever? -
There is a push in leadership to not allow SOS in correspondence until you've hit your 7th year and haven't been in-res. I don't foresee this happening with any urgency.

Two Planes Collide Over Wi. Everybody made it out.
contraildash replied to B52gator's topic in General Discussion
Anyone notice homenugget paying attention to the jumpers and not his 'lead'? No wonder he ran into the other plane...and of course the guy that caused the accident is the one that landed ok..... -
I don't understand how we push this safety culture, yet we don't readily share safety information to everyone. The 'I have a secret' culture in many safety offices is rotten. Glad someone is bringing this up on a higher level. Anyone read Approach magazine? Why doesn't the AF have something like that?

Just saw an email on this. They are proceeding as if the 28 Oct - 20 Dec class still happening. The cutoff is 21 Oct for all these budget shenanigans. No fix by then, no SOS class this fall.

Looked into it once, quotes ranged from $1200 to $2000. Google is your friend.

Fozzy, If you are looking for a decent 3B/2Ba house in the 'nicer' neighborhoods, you are looking at $1,500 and up just for the rent. That's right at the cap for an O3 w/ dependants. Good luck if you have pets, very few rentals allow pets and the ones that do charge up to a few hundred per pet. AHRN is very fluid as demand is high for rentals, we also looked on real estate websites, craigs list, zillow, and trulia. Calling around to different realators was helpful as well. If you find something, you have to jump on it quickly.

Having drove around town for several days on the hunt for a good rental, I was amazed at the number of houses for sale. Friends there had told me, including one who's wife is a realator, how the market is definetly a buyer's market right now but it sucks for everyone trying to sell. I'm not a realestate expert, but I think that the new housing will hurt sellers for a period of time, but will drive down rental prices in the long run. What infuriated me was that the rentals in Clovis were more expensive per sq/ft than anything I've ever seen, by a wide margin. Most rentals are two-three times the going mortgage rate if you bought a new house. Several friends bought a house since their mortgage was around 50% of their BAH. I just don't want to have any connection with Clovis when I get outa there. Fortunately, I got really lucky and found a great rental that is a new build AND within my BAH. Seriously felt like we won the powerball.

It's fun trying to convince the combat arms guys at a non-flying base that aircrew can and do wear over the shoulder holsters and thus need to qualify with one.....absolutely no outside the box thinking at that place.

It sounds more like they are trying to work out the queep on the pre tiral hearings in this case. I think this is the key paragraph: It seems that the defense attorney is butt hurt that the judge dismissed the motion for a full pre trial hearing (because it's absurd), but since the law wasn't clear on this point he decided to file the emergency petition with the S.C supreme court. It's a matter of if a full pre trial hearing required. Not a change in the law. Don't worry, this guy is still gonna fry. On a side note, good on law enforcement for re-examining the evidence. The murder was in 2005, they picked up this douchbag in 2012.

...and it lasted all of 30 or so minutes. The BX was a zoo. The gun counter was a zoo on methanphetamines. The mariachi band was a nice touch though.

Going to shoot my 597 this afternoon, zero it in and see how it shoots. Already have a list of mods (hammer and extractor first) to make it a fun little tack driver. How is the ammo situation for you guys? It seems to be getting better here in ABQ if you stay away from the BBSGS and even they aren't typically selling out of stuff same day. I've been taking my wife with me so I can get 4 boxes of .22 LR (CCI & American Eagle) at a time, will have bought 1200 rounds in three days come tomorrow.

I was back home recently and saw a lot of people out supporting the recall petition, it was awesome to see folks standing up against Morse and Giron. My home state has Colorado liberals have gone full retard and it's not just the gun stuff. So back to the topic of guns, anyone here have any of the newer Remington 957s? I've shot the standard 22lr, but am curious about the heavy barrel versions. Just looking for a fun semi-auto 22 to help with the prairie dog population.

Saddle up for Syria? Or Op Deny Christmas '13
contraildash replied to brickhistory's topic in General Discussion
So we'll give weapons to the rebels in support of their fight against Assad (but make sure only the 'good' rebs get them), but we are prosecuting Eric Harroun for fighting with the rebels (at one point he was allegedly with a group labeled as an AQ affiliate....allegedly). ?
