  1. well it ended up being moot, b/c on Tues morning they put me in the penalty box (kiosked) for the overdue IA, thus not following their own guidance. "oh, ADLS is down? Hmm, I didn't know that..." Took an entire 3 days (until this afternoon) for an override to go through so I wouldn't be locked out, and I expect to be locked out again tomorrow afternoon since the override is apparently only good for 24 hrs. The best part is the popup I've been getting for the last three days "Your IA is overdue, would you like to complete it now?" becomes 4 popups when you click it (it's like being rickrolled), and the phone number listed is for the Enterprise helpdesk that no longer exists (DSN 510 something). ETA: now that I can go somewhere other than the portal/ADLS, I could knock out the training on the DISA website, but that wouldn't update ADLS, and ADLS can't be manually updated because it's down... #catch22
  2. this is hilarious. ...but Mommmmmmmmm, it's not fairrrrrrrr!
  3. have your CC call their CC, to ensure support on Fri for you. You should not have to jump through hoops on your PCS because of poor planning on their part. Seriously.
  4. so at work today, I could access gmail on the interwebs, but every other non-mil/gov site I tried to visit gave me the big FU. Displayed error message was that my profile or workstation had been restricted to viewing only .mil/.gov websites. WTFU? If it matters, my IA just expired but since ADLS is down, can't rehack that. I know that the CS was given guidance not to disable accounts for that reason while ADLS is down, so seems an odd coincidence. Thoughts?
  5. HerkStud, have you tried working with TOML, ARA, etc to appeal to a broader audience who might be interested in an HC watch?
  6. crisis averted! Hope she was good...
  7. if you do get tapped for a SEF deployment, they have in the past attempted to put you at a location with your qual'd aircraft so you can continue to fly. If you are an 11HXX (RW only), you're excluded from consideration for safety deployments since the career field is critically manned and ops tempo is so high. Your MAJCOM manages the safety deployment buckets and tasks wings as appropriate to fill the requirements. I spent 1 yr as the SQ FSO, 1 yr as WG FSO, 1 yr at new duty station as SQ ADFSO (I was Chief of Training at the time), and 1.5 years as the WG Chief of Flight Safety. I dig safety. I have done 2 Class A SIBs (one as the Pilot Member, one as Investigating officer) and 2 Class B investigations as SIO. And of course too many to count Class C, D, and E investigations at my wings. If AFSEC was hiring right now on the GS side, I would be there in a heartbeat. Safety's not for everyone, and I'd ask you not to half-ass it if you do get the stink on you. It's something I care deeply about - I've lost several friends and family members over the years, and almost lost several others.
  8. what does renew with checkride mean? I can send in a copy of my most recent Form 8 that's less than 12 months old as proof and reset my CFI clock?
  9. it's also great when the A-10 is trying to tell you where a TIC is and they don't have the time to get coords and pass those over the radio... or to pass a ARCP to the tanker during a TEXACO.
  10. I personally knew: Dave Wisniewski(PEDRO 66) Sean Ruane (JOLLY 22) Dan Zerbe (EXTORTION 17) Jesse Samek (HALO 42) Tamara Archuleta (KOMODO 11) Randy Voas (ROOSTER 73) Scotty Bobbitt (GHOST 69) Derek Argel Jeremy Fresques We Remember.
  11. Aside, if your unit is the one requiring the paper version, someone there probably has the .xfdl version.
  12. at your extended TDY do you have access to a NIPR computer? If so, it has Adobe Pro, and you can digitally sign shit to your heart's content. also, can't you do the accrual thing via vMPF? That used to be an option, not sure if it still is.
  13. ah. I have a Mac so I can't open .xfdl files anyway. Why doesn't the PDF work for you? You can fill it out via adobe reader, can't you?
  14. it's on e-pubs. https://www.e-publishing.af.mil/?txtSearchWord=travel+voucher&btnG.x=0&btnG.y=0&client=AFPW_EPubs&proxystylesheet=AFPW_EPubs&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&output=xml_no_dtd&site=AFPW_EPubs

NT, where is the Command Post verification? Would be helpful to point folks to something official as FB is awash in unconfirmed reports, as you mentioned.
  16. if Gorenc is the next CSAF, that would be ok... Goldfein still needs to get some 4-star stink on him.
  17. wrong thread. If you want to start a new thread related to this topic, then do so.
  18. if you are considering punching, sounds like you've already made your mind up. I don't regret for an instant my decision. Also, you can take TAPS up to 2 years out from your expected DOS, so if you're within 2 years of your AFSC, you could easily sign up and knock it out. If you haven't already set up a LinkedIn profile and used some resources to get a resume squared away, you're behind the power curve. Get on that ASAP.
  19. I was a free agent, applied for separation on 25 Nov 13 to establish a 1 Apr 14 DOS (my ADSC had expired on 13 Nov 13 already), was approved on 26 Dec 13, and started terminal leave on 3 Feb 14 (final out 31 Jan). Also had to route it through the WG/CC for the less than 6 month request, just put "job opportunities" in the justification block.
  20. every instance I've heard of this results in the member remaining at current duty station. Not cost effective for DOD to move you with less than 2 years retainability, and in this day and age of tightnening of purse strings, odds are in your favor you'd stay there.
  21. that's because for some idiotic reason crash suppress in the AGSS disables the seat shakers and screws up the aero package. (in the OFT and WST we usually have crash suppress/override on). BTW, got 5 red screens of death in a row today in the OFT, while sitting on Pad 3. It won't be missed.
  22. our sims will be running 20 hrs a day starting next week, b/c the OFT is going down for 3 months at the end of this week for computer/software upgrades. Finally ditching the 386 processors and the horrible UI...
  23. don't kid yourself, there's already a stipulation for premium pay outside the defined "normal" hours, and more premium pay for overtime. I get premium pay if my shift starts before 0600 or after 1300 (standard 8 hr day).
  24. shit we can barely network sims in buildings 100 ft apart! And we're only ~300 meters from DMOC. Doesn't help that each of our sims was built by a different vendor, with technology decades apart...
