  1. Back when we shared the pattern with the T-6s and T-38s, we just went down to VLD for CEPIs.
  2. and there's still someone coded as an MH-53 pilot even though those were all retired 5 years ago...
  3. were you asking because of this: https://www.10news.com/news/man-says-helicopters-flew-close-to-his-ocean-beach-home-08192014
  4. https://access.afpc.af.mil/vbinDMZ/broker.exe?_program=DEMOGPUB.static_reports.sas&_service=pZ1pub1&_debug=0 Scroll to the bottom to the [RETENTION] section and select MDSACPSUMMARY. It seems that only Hueys and F-35s are happy pilots these days and have a take rate that exceeds the non-take rate. Everyone else is hovering around a 20-30% take rate. And the FY15 numbers aren't better.
  5. while in the pattern yesterday: TWR: "The ceiling is at thirteen thousand feet, and since it's below fifteen thousand, the square pattern is closed." Me: "?"
  6. I'm guessing they got confused because the Test Wing is at Eglin. The 88 TES is at Nellis, however. Also, there are no longer any HC-130N/P aircraft at DM (haven't been for a while now). And no, AMARG doesn't count.
  7. the GO couldn't figure out how to use self-help? Or have his aide do it for him?
  8. all hail the Glorious Commandant
  9. Syracuse also offers a Scrum course through their vet initiative.

    USAA

I just shopped around last week and found that I would save upwards of $500 switching home/auto to Geico. One unknown is how much of a "bundle" discount Geico gives. Anyone have gouge there? Also, how responsive is Geico/Liberty Mutual to claims against the homeowners insurance? If you've had a claim, have you seen your rates rise after that?
  11. no, closest it came was back in the 07-08 timeframe, but got shut off at the 11th hour. Ops and MX haven't been together in at least 11 years.
  12. oooh airshows, thanks for reminding me. Had to design and get a demo approved a few years back. Also, with a 4-year degree you only need 4500 hours...
  13. so I got accepted for the next quarter (starting in Oct) for the Project Management track. I'm curious what sorts of things can be used as a legitimate "project" to meet the hour requirement for the PMP certification. Does safety program management at the squadron/Wing level count? What about creating and managing a flying hour program? How about managing a 30 year plan for an HOA? What about being on a SIB, is that considered a "project"? ETA: the PMP handbook was less than helpful, ditto the application, for what constitutes a "project".
  14. I've heard third-hand no more CV-22s dropping out of Rucker. Have not been able to validate this information.
  15. You can fly as long as your FDP, and you must rest IAW crew rest rules, but the crew rest clock starts when you are done with post-mission stuff, not when the engines stop.
  16. No, that's Sushi Zen. Yoshi Hachi has pictures of Yoshi with a bunch of golfers plastered all over the walls, and it's up off 23 near Kadena Gate 5 (ish).
  17. HOS vs HOR is dependent on how you departed the military. In my case, my ADSC expired and I decided to get out (no VSP, no other force shaping measure). Since this was the case, I only got HOR for my HHG. Had I force shaped or retired, I would have gotten HOS. I served 12 years, 5 months, 28 days for reference.
  18. Are you referring to YoshiHachi? It's ok, there are plenty better. Sushi Zen, Transit Cafe, Arin Krin (if you love garlic and wish to smell of it for the next 3 days), and Jiro Cho (if you are feeling adventurous and don't mind there are no English menus)...
  19. I know someone with last name K who got approved. Not sure his AFSC, but he was a T-6 FAIP to C-130s at Pope to KC-135s at SJ guy. Barely got C-130 qual'd before that unit shut down, and now he's barely been qual'd in the KC-135 before his VSP approved...
  20. he knows.

    database error

I am getting a database error when I try to open a thread in General Discussion. Not sure if it's temporary or not, but it's been occuring for the last 5 minutes for me.
  22. Butters, do you believe MH 370 landed somewhere and everyone is living out their version of LOST?
  23. not where, but who is Welch?!?!?
