  1. A Toast to my friends. That Others May Live.
  2. that chapter doesn't apply to me. I get HOR, not HOS. I'm not getting severance pay or being forced out involuntarily, my ADSC expired and I'm getting out, and my separation orders specify HOR. doesn't NTS occur where you are currently living (last PDS)? When I was stationed overseas, my NTS was held at my previous PDS, and when I returned to CONUS it had to be released from storage and shipped across the country to my new duty station. So I don't think I would need a pre-determined location, as it would go into NTS where I am right now.
  3. FG - I can't seem to get a straight answer from the local CPTS or TMO right now - I am separating, and am authorized to return to my HOR (not HOS). I have a line of accounting on my orders for Non-temporary storage, and I'm trying to figure out if I utilize the NTS option, does this void the GOVT payment to move my HHG to my HOR? I will most likely be travelling farther than my HOR to my next job and understand I will have to pay the difference, but that location is as yet an unknown quantity. So the idea is to put my stuff in NTS until I can determine where I'm going, and rent out my house. I think, from reading U5630, that I can use NTS up to 180 days, then my goods need to be transported ASAPly to their final destination, all without additional expense incurred by me (assuming final destination is HOR). Where I would have to pay more is if HHG are not going to HOR and this cost for the GOVT exceeds the shipping cost to HOR, and/or if I extend the NTS past 180 days without getting an approved extension. True?

to clarify, we're not talking about a poll, we're talking about the up/down votes you can give someone for a post

same here, FF 26.0 on OS X 10.9 and iOS 7.
  6. seems to me the Army does't value a well educated warrant officer and enlisted force. 10 years between? That's ridiculous, if there's someone out there who has a vested interest in continuing their education, they shouldn't be penalized for that.
  7. time logged in the actual aircraft as "sim inst" should count. You could also use instrument time logged in a simulator, but only up to 25 hrs worth, per the CFR above. ALWAYS go to the source for these things. Example: the FAA's definition of PIC time is NOT just Primary vs Secondary time in the USAF. All your Primary time (sole manipulator of the controls), plus all your Secondary time logged when you were the A code, and all your instructor time (A code when you're instructing) count toward the FAA definition of PIC time, if your aircraft requires two pilots to fly (the 60 does, not sure about the Huey).
  8. yeah, it's you. Either your browser or your internet connection...I just tried the thread and it opened like a champ. I was having the same issues with FF over the holidays, turns out the new version (26) screwed up my FF profile.
  9. The word "unaided" does not appear in the CFR. https://www.ecfr.gov/cgi-bin/retrieveECFR?gp=&SID=ce5753492082abb56d9271e7586598bc&n=14y2.0.1.1.2&r=PART&ty=HTML#14:2.0.1.1.2.7.1.9
  10. what would the app bring that the mobile version doesn't bring? Right now the mobile version is sufficient for my needs (but maybe I don't know what I'm missing).
  11. most likely. The mobile site it's bad, tho. Never felt the need to go the tapatalk route for that reason. EDIT: BTW, still getting the same post behavior, where it doesn't refresh to show my post after I've posted something. EDIT 2: Though it works fine when I edit a post I already made and hit "save changes". My post is then refreshed to show my changes. So the issue may only be with new posts.
  12. just posted, got the green thing at the top that it was "posting", but didn't take me to my post like it used to. I navigated away and saw that the post had actually occurred. OS X 10.9 with Firefox 26.0
  13. I flew around with the canopy open on my first solo in the T-34. All I needed was a scarf flapping in the breeze.
  14. Huggy's back!
  15. shit, we have CF-18 Toughbooks that screw in to a port by the copilot's leg to connect to the GPS. iPad would be a third the size/third the weight, even inside an otterbox.
  16. or something happens during a practice auto that leads to an inadvertant touchdown (wind shift to a tail wind during the flare makes the level/cushion sporty...as does a water bottle jamming between the collective and the armor wing on the seat). re: WAATS sim, we have permission to use it and log currency for Contact, EP, and 50% of our Instrument approach requirements from ACC. Trying to get permission to do every other DLQ there to reduce trips to NASNI, but ACC won't currently accept the Navy paperwork allowing the Army sim to be used for this purpose IAW the DLQ MOU, because the Navy paperwork isn't dated. Even though it's attached to the most current MOU. We cannot log sim refresher at this sim b/c we don't have the capability to conduct the rest of the sim refresher syllabus, namely CRM refresher (systems and tac academics aren't cosmic), since no one in our community is a certified CRM facilitator. The WAATS sim only benefits the DM units anyway, since everyone else would still have to go TDY to use it. Plus, since it's not our cockpit or systems setup (the Lima had differences in the hydraulic system), so it's not a perfect solution. No collective trim, our nav system replaced with the IFR-certified GPS, buttons on the cyclic and collective are different, no FLIR/HDD, etc. We'll send a crew up there occasionally to keep the hands warm, etc, but it definitely doesn't replace flying in the real bird. Even with the Sikorsky aero package (unlike the bastardized T-38 aero package we have in the ones at Kirtland), it still doesn't feel right.
  17. how about take the discussion over to Baseops SIPR? It exists for this very reason...
  18. can't speak to the Hueys, but we have a 3 month EP sortie currency requirement. Mandatory items include a hydraulic malfunction, stabilator malfunction, engine malfunction, single-engine approach/landing, and straight-ahead/low altitide autorotations. Besides the fact that helo sims are only at Kirtland (24 month currency for sim refresher), the sims do a very poor job of modeling takeoffs, landings, and autorotations. That stuff HAS to be flown for realz. So landing from a Boost/SAS off situation, when the helo is statically/dynamically unstable, needs to be done in the actual aircraft. We actually allowed to log one EP sortie per 12 months in the sim, but our next EP sortie MUST be in the actual aircraft and MUST include autos.
  19. You guys still do 180 autos? We haven't had that requirement for years (straight ahead and low altitude autos for us). By doors open, do you mean the cabin doors or cockpit doors? Either way, that's what gunners belts and 5-pt harnesses are for... The AIB President is a 60 guy by trade, maybe he did a little helo education with your OG while he was there.
  20. they have 9 tie-breakers, is this because they actually needed them at one point, or someone got bored? Reverse SSN with lowest number winning...I supposed if you and your twin were equally ranked at the Zoo, then that one would come into play.
