HH-60G Pave Hawk Down Okinawa
https://www.google.co...0a4542e971d.421 edit: I hope this is true. All other news articles, including those from military sources, still say the 4th crew member hasn't yet been located. The fact this dude was also quoted in a different article as saying 3 crew members ejected and were fine now leads me to take anything from his mouth with skepticism, unfortunately.

Questions on TPS (Test Pilot School)
Of the 5 helo guys I am aware of who went to TPS in recent times, two are in RW test, and one is in CV-22s. Not sure about the other two, I lost track of them.

US KC-135 Down - Kyrgyzstan
One of several queepy things I once got QC rejected on was that my one-liner had too many acronyms. Well, assholes, if you limit how many characters I can use in a one-liner, then yes, it's going to have a lot of acronyms and abbreviations.

CV-22 Osprey info
so, what exactly is the CV-22's mission?

US KC-135 Down - Kyrgyzstan
I worked an F-22 SIB recently that took 4 months to complete. The evidence gathering took 3 months and 3 weeks. It's amazing how much things can change given one new piece of evidence...we deconvened for two months to let the smart folks do some testing. I'm not too worried about it. There's also an 85% QC rejection rate (per AFSEC) for final messages right now, so the MAJCOM may have spotted a few things that needed fixing, to try to not get the big FU from AFSEC a week after final message release and the SIB having already been deconvened at that point. Enormous PITA once you've gone back to your normal job to get sucked back in to fix queepy shit.

US KC-135 Down - Kyrgyzstan
as I said before, it's still there.

Sweet pad...
reminds me of that nice big DFAC that was built at Balad, before they realized it was too close to the fence and susceptible to IDF. I'm pretty sure it sat there empty till we left, too.

US KC-135 Down - Kyrgyzstan
umm, what? Anyone who has received their annual privilege briefing and has a need to know (read: all aircrew definitely have a need to know on this one) can read the SIB final message. Other services will need to go through their Safety Center to request a copy. For the general public, you will need to wait for the AIB.

Look out below!
well it's obvious it came from a non-mil aircraft. But I'll still blame the FEs, Gunners and Copilots.

Leave Questions
If you submit for leave on leaveweb, then the "start and end in the local area" requirement applies. AND you'll be double-charged for leave when you file your voucher. As long as coord has occurred with home station, with the expectation that the DTS voucher will reflect the leave days, then that should be sufficient for any LoDD.

as an attached flyer, I make sure that I make myself available to fly, and I'm proactive about letting scheduling know this. I see other attached folks who just kind of disappear, don't pop into the SQ occasionally to remind folks they're still around, and they're the ones who fly once a quarter and then feel bitter about it. If you don't make yourself available and bug scheduling on occasion to get on a line, it's your own fault.

CSAR-X
Please no! Even though we've been passed around since our inception, a move to AMC would be HORRIBLE! I was in Pakistan when we found out we were moving from AFSOC back to ACC. Literally changed patches overnight. Even in AFSOC we were treated as the red-headed step children. At Balad we lived and worked in the JSOAC, but we had to stay in our little corner the entire time ("well, you're not really SOF, so we're not actually going to give you any details for the missions you're supporting daily, or allow you to talk to anyone, or eat at DFAC 5, or have access to X pot of $$, or really support you as a command"). We've been treated better in ACC. I'd only want to go back to AFSOC if it's done right this time. edit: multiquote fix

we had ours today.

Aviation Continuation Pay (ACP - The Bonus)
wait, so the FY12 ACP only applied for those whose commitment was up in FY12? So since my Pilot Training ADSC is Nov 13, I won't be eligible for the FY13 ACP (or whatever it's going to be called)? Well, that makes choices interesting...

National Air Cargo 747 Crash at Bagram
wow.

It's also interesting to note the decline in experience in communities...retention dropped 30% in CSAR from the previous FY, and TARS dropped 2.5 years worth of experience. Someone should correlate that to mishap rates and see if anything significant shows up.
