Safety School (Albuquerque, AMIC)
FSO is no longer offered. IFSO (International FSO) is for foreign military students. AMIC+ASPM= what FSO used to be. So if you are just going to AMIC, then you won't get the program management aspect. ASPM is only a week long, so you should see if there's one conveniently aligned with your AMIC class so you just roll from one straight into the other, then you get the S prefix.

New BAH rates are out.
mine went up $6. Which is still less (by $8) from 2010 BAH for this area. AND, somehow BAH in Valdosta, GA is higher than Tucson, AZ. Something ain't right...

Finance Problems
I think he was saying you said that CPTS doesn't fall under MSG or FSS, but then you didn't offer who they do fall under (until the later post). At least that's how I took it.

Blues on Monday
-----Original Message----- From: ACC/CC Commander Sent: Friday, November 30, 2012 5:13 PM To: A bunch of WG/CCs and other staffers Subject: ACC Uniform Guidance Commanders, As you have all heard by now, CSAF does not intend to reissue the policy mandating the wear of Blues on Mondays. Effective immediately, uniform wear in ACC units will be at the discretion of Wing Commanders. NAFs and other staffs may set uniform policy for their respective headquarters. At Headquarters ACC uniform wear will be commensurate with the expected duty that day. For example, if in the performance of your duties you interact with counterparts who normally wear business suits or business smart you will wear Blues. Otherwise, ABUs or flight suits will be the normal duty uniform. As always, Commanders and supervisors should ensure that our Airmen present a professional image and possess/maintain properly fitting uniforms. If you have any questions on this guidance please contact the ACC Director of Staff at ... Gen Mike Hostage Commander, ACC (edit: remove phone #)

Air to Air Photos of Military Aircraft
HH-43: the original Pedro! BTW, your sense of scale is waaaaay off. I'm not sure how anyone could confuse an H-21, CH-47, and HH-43. This is an H-21: This is a Chinook (CH-47): edited to add photos

F-22 crash?
Col Graff has been the Wing King for a little over 24 hours. Talk about a job welcome.

F-22 crash?
Yup, word is he's ok. The local WX guy just showed a return over the location where the jet went down and threw out his theory about how the jet may have been flying into the wind...

Military Academies - Infantilised Universities or Laboratories of Leadership
one data point: my class had 862 graduates. 6 of these were not commissioned, there were 7 foreign cadets, and a total of 7 who cross commissioned to another service (3 USA, 3 USN, 2 USMC). There were 561 pilot slots given out that year at USAFA, which equals 65% of the total class size (67% if you don't count the 20 who didn't enter the USAF).

C-17 Lands at Wrong Airport
interesting read. A couple queep points [nerdy safety hat]...the SIO went to the trouble of having his final message be in Tab T format, but he still screwed it up. Three things listed in the factors section were concluded to not be factors, so they should have been down in the NFWODs section (since they were worthy of him discussing in multiple paragraphs). And I know Findings and Recommendations are not required for Class E mishaps, but seriously, if you go to that much effort to write your analysis and then not have any recommendations, that's a bit absurd. I can think of at least two recommendations I would make for this event (and having to scroll back up to the narrative to figure out where the causal findings were was annoying). [/nerdy safety hat] I still want to know how the conversation went with the O-10 once they told him they had not, in fact, landed at MacDill.
