T-6 Instructor Requirements
first pilot = AC. Any FP time logged is AC time. #4: no, the ones I've known to go to white jets always came back to the community when they were done with that tour (I know of at least 4), or got off active duty.

you should go find his USAFA speech from when he was Commandant. He's wearing a flight suit in that one (for vis recce of the right videos).

Flying VFR
13,500. I don't think I went this high in the T-34...it was for some PJ HALO jump currencies. ha.

Flying VFR
"VFR On Top" is for aircraft on an IFR flight plan https://www.faa.gov/air_traffic/publications/atpubs/atc/atc0703.html "VFR Over The Top" is for aircraft who are NOT on an IFR flight plan https://www.risingup.com/fars/info/part1-1-FAR.shtml (scroll down to the definition of VFR Over the Top; the definition for VFR on Top can be found by scrolling up to "IFR Over The Top") https://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/publications/tp14371-rac-2-0-2599.htm#2-7-4

C-17 Pilot Charged in Training Jump Death
Privilege has NEVER been automatic. When you provide a written statement, you sign first you understand that you are giving a privileged statement, or giving a non-privileged statement. If being verbally interviewed, you read the privilege or non-privilege statement out loud. The only reason a statement given under the promise of confidentiality can be released is if it's determined the individual lied in that statement.

C-17 Lands at Wrong Airport
flew 3 Southwest Airlines legs this week, and every single one was a VFR approach to the airport (LAS, ABQ, and TUS). Established downwind leg turning base to final, and none of them under or overshot final. Had a copilot a few weeks back when we were flying VFR cross country who didn't know "nee odd sweeven" (but both the FE and gunner knew it).

HC-130 info
During our OPD session with the RQG/CC today, I learned that there's something in the works to get rocket pods installed on the HC, and talk of a further upgrade to mount .50 cals below said pods. Given his drive to get the HC back into an RMC role, this doesn't surprise me, and would seem to be well suited for that role.

Pilot watches
M2, base on your earlier discussion, I bought a Suunto Core Regular Black last week on Amazon ($215), and it arrived 2 days ago. Love it! Hopefully my 30 day assessment is along the lines of yours.

HC-130 info
there is one J at DM. I HAAR'd off it Tues night. There is an HC WIC standing up at DM, with the first class slated to be 14A. I'm not sure when the 79th will be IOC, so those who haven't jet gone for the J transition have been augmenting with the 71st for their deployments. Sooner rather than later, tho, all the 79th folks will be J qual'd, waiting for taskings.

Transfering airframes
RWQC doesn't exist for the AF anymore (reference dodo in busdriver's post). Pretty sure everyone does the full 6 months at Rucker now, regardless of background.

Transfering airframes
he was referring to the helo functional...outside of coming from another RW platform, the only way I've seen FW bubbas come over to the dark side is by getting hired by one of the Guard/Reserve units that flies 60s.

Good military/aviation books

Information on PIT (Pilot Instructor Training)
do PIT TDY orders specify it as an accompanied TDY? If not, then they aren't doing anything wrong or unexpected.

Oxygen masks
actually, the maxofacial shield was designed originally for the frontenters, to mitigate smaking your face on the cyclic in the event of a crash. Only a bene for the backenders as mentioned above, and it's also great to keep the dust out of your face when doing brownouts with doors off (all crew positions). you've been hanging out with Ralph Royce too much

Kadena information
yes to on base, no to off base. And your quarantines starts the day you get your pets' blood drawn for the rabies test. My cats 180 day quarantine was served entirely in CONUS before I PCS'd. The Japanese vet site is accurate. https://www.kadena.af.mil/library/factsheets/factsheet.asp?id=16520
